I was induced 30 hrs ago w/ 12 hrs of pitcin. There was no progress in cm dilated at the end of the day or station where the head was lying. All night they gave 2 suppisitories to soften the cervix which it did a little, but did not open it past the 3 it's been for 2 wks. So now I'm a new day w/ pitocin and don't really notice any contractions even tho I've been on it for 4 hrs. The doc I have today said there's no protien in the urine even tho there was yesterday. So if there's none later on today and the BP looks good, even tho I'm not progressing she said maybe I can go home. I would like to wait for labor to happen naturally cause even w/ a regular dose of induction agents, it doesn't seem to help! He wants to stay in there. It sucks, but we might have to let him decide his b-day which can be this wkend of later.

I've been functioning on minimal sleep and minimal food (today's doc seems to be OK w/ me eating lightly, and I was allowed to have a sandwitch yesterday. but otherwise popicles only) Let's hope the next entry will have baby here, but it seems so far off now!!

Well, had my 40 wk appt today and they said last wk they'd prefer suggesting induction once I reached this point b/c of my BP. It was 140/102 both x's they checked it today even tho I'd rested the 2nd time. It was also that high Sund. The non-stress test + amniotic fluid look fine, but I guess this is just the philosophy is for them to do this w/ people w/ chronic hypertension even tho there was only a trace of protein in the urine for the 1st time. My doula said I could request a 24-hr urine, and even try acupunture, but the urine, even if it's normal, would not be their deciding factor. I've never tried acupunture before, so now's not the time to try. Their deciding factor is the BP. I'm just concerned about not having as much a natural labor as wanted, too bad I didn't go into labor yet. My doula said when they give you pitocin they want to keep the monitor on you continuously but they might have a waterproof device so I can get into the tub. I  will try to get them to keep the dose low + not raise it so often as they try to w/ others since watching "The business of being born" the other day, I know the medical profession is gung-ho about progressing labor... I also do NOT want to have to stay in the bed w/ out being able to walk around, use birth ball etc. I heard if the BP is really high you might have to stay in bed, we'll see how it does, hopefully it stays around normal.

So we'll see how everything goes. I hope the birth exp will still be fine (my doula said some people are still able to have a good exp being induced) because I don't have much of a choice having this chronic condition and my body's telling me it's ready for him to be born since BP's gone up. More when he's born or during labor!

New pics are posted from the now finished nursery and the 2nd baby shower my mother-in-law had Sat. We got the bathtub, some soaps, the playpen, and more clothes. We are still being patient, knowing that he'll probably not make his appearance till due date. If only I could leave work earlier tho...  We'd hoped he'd come tomorrow the 6th since it's the day before my hubby's b-day and 2 days b4 his late dad's, but he might come the 9th, which his step-mom wants, the day after the 2 b-days in the family. Well he might just wait till til the 17th, which is significant because it's Norway's natl. holiday (where I've spent yrs) and mother-in-law's 60th b-day. WE'll see!!
