Water broke at 38 weeks...Makenzie is here!!!
SOO...Makenzie Rose Brown is HERE! She was born at 2:32pm on Friday the 13th. She weighed in at 7lbs 14oz and was 20.5 inches long.  I posted a few pictures but you can also see more at a different website> Baby Makenzie I went to the dr at 5:00 on Thursday April 12th and found out my membranes had never been stripped....so the dr stripped them...then at the grocery store on the way home I had my water start leaking. So that was around 6. We took our time and packed and went to the hospital. We got there at around 7 and they told to us they would get a triage room ready. SOOO....luckily I had worn a big pad cause I kept on leaking a ton since my bag had never really gushed yet. So finally at 8 I got into a triage room and hooked up to some monitors. I was having some pretty regular contractions that were not too painful yet. They confirmed that I was indeed leaking amniotic fluid..duh and told me that I would be moved into labor and delivery soon. Well I finally got to L&D at 10pm. I was having more painful contractions at this point- about every 2-3 minutes. I think I asked for the epidural around 11- I really didn't need it at all at that point, but I didn't want to wait till I needed it- LOL. So I THINK I got it sometime around 12(midnight). By the time I got it I was ready for it. Things were just getting to the point where I really needed to breathe through the contractions. I got the epidural and it was A-MAZING! Oh my....it was WONDERFUL. My whole mood completely changed. It didn't hurt at all- the only pain was one little numbing shot which was less painful than the IV I had gotten. SOOO then once I got the miracle drug my contractions started getting shorter and more irregular. So around 1am I was still at a 4 (I came in as a 3) so they started pitocin. Well from 2am-6am the nurse (who was a pretty new nurse) thought the baby's heartrate was going down at the top of the contractions- then she would turn me so it would stop, but then my blood pressure would drop too low. So she kept turning down the pitocin. I slept a lot during those hours. At the end of her shift I was STILL at a 4 and very frustrated. Well my NEW nurse came in at 4...her name was Linda and she was AMAZING. She said- "Let's get ready for a bday party. We have to get things moving cause we aren't going to let this end as a C-sec" So she played around with my position and found when I sat up straight that both my blood pressure and the baby's heart were totally fine and she started back slowly on pitocin and everything was great! So after a few hours I got to 7. Then a few hours later I was STILL at 7. I think that was at around 10am. At that time they put an internal uterine thing in me to be able to tell the intensity of the contractions. This way they could tell how hard the contractions were- the upped the pitocin several times till I was having VERY hard contractions....but I couldn't feel them! So it was totally fine with me. Well by around noon I was at about a 9.5 and the nurse said she would call the dr but we could wait awhile to let the baby move down. My anesthesiologist did an AWESOME job- I didn't feel any pain but I could feel my legs the whole time. And I COULD totally tell when to push. So around 1 we did a practice push. The nurse was very impressed. They got some stuff ready and probably let me start pushing around 1:30. Well after 2-3 pushes they told me I COULDN'T push anymore cause it was going too fast. so for about 20-30 minutes I stopped and waited for the dr. Around 2 the dr wasn't there but they said I could start to push again- So I did. The Dr. got there and by 2:32 she was OUT! I only needed a few little stitches and I did get 2 little hemorrhoids but oh well. It was amazing. No pain. So easy. I stayed in L&D longer than usual cause they didnt have any available recovery rooms. Normally you stay there 2 hours but I was there till about 7pm (4.5hrs). I think thats about it...OH YEAH...Chip made it through the whole thing! He saw her head come out and had to sit down but he did fine! OH yeah...and one pretty scary thing was that she had the cord around her neck twice and then around her leg. And when she came out she didn't cry right away- they took her and put the oxygen on her and were suctioning her lungs. Soo... I just kept saying- Is she ok? Is she ok?? And when I finally heard her cry I started crying and so did Chip. Anyway- if you have any questions I didn't talk about then just ask and I'll share! It is good to be home. I am already getting tired of breastfeeding just cause I am the only one who can do it and you have to do it so much- plus it makes you cramp so bad. But I know it is good for both of us and it is way cheaper- and I will pump eventually and give other people a turn! Plus I am sure it will get easier and I won't have to do it quite so often. So I am sticking with it.
