Baby has arrived!

2008-08-06  (34 weeks)
Week 34

Our appointment last Thursday went just fine...no problems, no surprises...so that's good.

I had a great time at another shower over the weekend!  My family threw a lovely party for our friends and family in IL.  It's so comforting to know that so many people are out there supporting us and already love our son :)  Thanks to everyone's generosity...I think we are actually ready for this little guy to arrive.  Well, from the practical standpoint at least.  Mentally and/or emotionally, I'm still trying to adjust.  I keep getting stuck in my mind at the actual point of labor and delivery!

Tonight is the big Breastfeeding class at the hospital.  I'm hoping that we learn a lot b/c this is one area that has me a bit concerned (along with about 20-30 others)!  Between the latch and the pump I'm not sure which one requires more instruction!!!

I think I'm officially waddling now.  Walking has become a much slower activity and it seems that I can't remember a time when moving around and picking things up off of the floor came easily to me :)  It's funny how my perception of 'normal' has changed as my memory has faded.

Still no official name.  Josh is waiting for him to tell us what he wants to be called.  He poses options to my belly frequently just waiting for a big kick that will confirm his name.  But...nothing so far.  The results are mixed as the voting continues to change :)

Week 33

Oh my...I don't think I ever thought my belly could get this big!!!  As of my last appointment, I had gained 25 pounds.

The nursery really came together over the past 2 weeks...and I think it's actually ready to house a baby :)  I put a few new pics in the photo album.  It's all becoming more and more real...Josh installed the car seat in my car this weekend.  I can't believe I'm actually driving around with a car seat base in my back seat!!  YIKES!

My sisters, Maureen and Lisa, just made flight arrangements to come into town to help after the baby arrives.  Woo hoo!  I am so excited that they will be here for a visit!!!

I think that's about all that I have to report right now...we have another appt on Thursday.

Week 32

Today we went to the doctor's office for the "fun" 3D/4D ultrasound...no medical purpose at all...just another peek at our baby.  Our little guy didn't really cooperate as much as I'd hoped he would.  His hands were constantly in his face blocking our view!!!  But, we were able to snap a few pictures of him where we could actually see his mouth.  Attached is one of those pics that I think is probably the best one of the group.  Isn't it amazing what technology can do these days?!  His arms are folded just under his chin.

Oh and BTW...We did verify that he is still a boy...he was showing off again during the ultrasound :)

Week 31

Woops...I missed another week!!  I've really noticed that my belly has grown considerably over the past couple of weeks.  It's crazy how that happens!!!  It just seems like all of sudden I actually look like a full blown pregnant woman :)

Nursery update...the crown molding is officially hanging in the nursery...woohoo!!!  That was our 4th of July weekend and yes, that means that last weekend was an exercise in huge amounts of geometry and patience for both me and Josh.  It was our first experience with crown and OMG...how long has it been since high school geometry?!?!?!?  The geometry finally came around after MUCH trial and error.  The patience?  Well, let's just say that we're thankful that the geometry finally came around :)  It looks awesome. and I'm so glad that we decided to put it up.  I put a picture of it (and some other nursery pics) in the Photo Album so you can check 'em out if you want.

My girlfriends, Pam and Stefanie, are graciously throwing a shower for us tomorrow for our Missouri friends and family.  I'm very excited and am looking forward to seeing everyone!!

My health has been good...no more retinal migraines (cross your fingers!).  I don't know if the iron had anything to do with it or not...but since I've started taking it, I've been 'episode' free and have had more energy.   Hallelujah and a big WOOHOO on that!!!
