Baby has arrived!

First comes Crib, Then comes Baby

So a few weeks ago Derrick and Molly put up the baby crib.  It was such a sight to be seen.  Molly was up to her ears in packaging while Derrick was putting it all together.  I on the other hand was the photographer, it was for sure a picture worthy moment. So now our crib is up and just waiting for baby.  I've not "dressed" it all up yet with the bedding.  I figured that will come sooner or later.  I'd hate to set it up and it get all dusty and then I'd have to rewash it all again.  But they say nesting is coming soon so I guess you never know what I'll be doing.

Our changing table/hutch will be arriving a little later.  It is going to match the crib though, I just love it.

GEORGIA peaches anyone?!

As if the stress of being new parents isn't enough, the Air Force decided it is time for Derrick and I to pack our bags and move to Macon, Georgia (Warner Robins Air Force Base).  At first it was a little shocking; we love our extended family and the wonderful friends we've made here in Washington.  It will for sure be hard to leave what we have here in Washington.

In that same breathe, we have been in Washington for 4 yrs and I think it is time we have a change of scenery.  The area where we live now is wonderful and the company is amazing but Georgia is going to be so much closer to our families.  With a new baby I think being closer to our families is going to be such a blessing.

After some tough decisions and a lot of rearranging it has been decided that Derrick is going to move to Georgia in late Sept 08 and the baby and I will be following in late Oct / early Nov 08. (More on why Derrick is leaving early in the next blog post) I'm actually hoping maybe, just maybe we will be able to spend the holidays with our family in Ohio.

So in the meantime we have a lot to do i.e. have a baby, put our house up for rent, move our household goods, figure out how to get both of our cars to Georgia and find a place to live.  Not so bad right?  But we have until Derrick leaves in Sept to do it. See, I told you we have been busy lately.

June 7, 2008 - Baby Shower in Ohio

Well, the month of June started out fantastic.  I was able to fly home to Ohio for the weekend to visit with family and friends at a baby shower hosted by my parents and my best friend Tracy.  Needless to say the weekend was jam packed full of visiting and enjoying the company of those I've moved far from.  It was great seeing old friends from high school and family I've not see in ages.  Oh and another gift I got while being back home in the heat; I recieved my first pair of cankles ... awww the joys of pregnancy!

The baby shower itself was perfect.  Mom and Tracy did a great job with the party, decorations, games, etc. Thanks Grandpa Ron for cooking all the amazing food.  Oh and I must say, the bumblee bee cake was the icing on the cake, great job Grandma Tina! As you can see you name it we did it and then some.  I can't believe that there were over 50 people at my parents house that day.  It was a busy day with a baby shower going on inside and baseball and corn hole going on outside.

Derrick and I thank everyone so much for being so gracious with thier gifts and prayers.  We wouldn't be where we are today without the help of our family and friends.

The night before I left to head back home, mom and I found ourselves in the basement going through all the old clothes from when my brothers and I were babies.  I was able to bring home some great clothes and blankets for Baby Taylor to wear.  How amazing will it be to see our baby in clothes that I used to wear when I was a baby.  Talk about a full circle.

Thanks again to everyone who make June 7, 08 a day we will remember forever!  Mom and Dad you are the best!!

*Some of the photos are posted in the photo album for this blog.

I know, I know, It's been so long since my last update.

First of all I need to apologize for being so out of touch with our family and friends. Our summer has been anything but uneventful; you'll see, I'm going to write all about it.  Again, I'm so sorry it's been so long.  I hope you are able to understand once you read what we have been up to lately ...

We love you all!
