 A Powell family update
Well, what can I say? Talon is growing like a stinkweed, that's for sure. Havent had his weight checked in a while but I know for certain he is gaining weight... How u may ask? by the little pudge he is getting in the middle. That certain baby fat that makes him so adorable.
Today, Talon followed his daddy and brother with his eyes. Searching for them if they went out of his sight. I noticed it with David as I was cooking supper for us. I asked him to walk around Talon just to make sure I was right! Oh yeah.. I was. As for Gary, I noticed his earlier in the day. Gary gave me a kiss and started to walk away when Talon followed him with his eyes and turned his head to find him. It was SOOO cute! Mine was last night. I just finished rubbing IcyHot on my husband's back and was going to the bathroom to wash off the excess. He had watched me the entire time as I was rubbing his daddy's back.. as I was leaving, he followed me out and when he couldnt see me anymore, he raised his head over the couch arm and the pair of jeans sitting on it to look for me. How do I know this? Gary was watching him do it and I was looking from the corner of the dining room into the living room. I laughed because it was TOO CUTE! I got back into the room and he lifted his arms to me as if to say.. Okay, ur done with him.. my turn! Only 2 months old. He also knows his name. He recognizes us calling him. Gary called to him Sunday and he got quiet for a few mins. It was just interesting.. plus when I call to him he looks at me. Maybe he doenst recognize his name yet but is following my voice.. any which way.. when we say Talon, he stops what he is doing and looks at us.. if we are nearby. If not, he stops what he is doing and searches.
We did notice one thing from the Labor Day weekend. Talon really hates his car seat. You see, Talon, we have noticed, is the kind of baby who is VERY curious with the world going on around him. Hed rather someone STAND and hold him than sit and hold him. Gary figured that out here today. Ive noticed it but never thought too much of it. Talon is also the kind of baby who cries and cries until we finally pick him up. He loves to be held. Talon is just a needy baby in that regard. Gary says its my fault but I think its just him. Dunno!
Also, Talon is such a happy baby. He smiles all the time when he isnt crying. Its so cute. I play a game with him that noone else can play with him. They try but he gives them this look of.. thats mom and mine's game.. not our game. Its called Budda. What I do is say Budda Budda twice running my finger over his lips and he just goes NUTS.. he'll smile really big.. Ive added in a beep beep at the end and will beep beep his nose.. oh yeah.. he just LOVES that too... Last week.. I did the pinch the chubby cheeks in with it and he just loved it! Yep, such a happy baby.
While we were on our trip, Talon amazed us Sunday morning. I went to SIT him down on the table. Just to hold him but out of my lap. Little turd didnt want to sit. He stood right up and started to WALK on the table. I had him by his underarms but he literally was doing it. I didnt move his legs or feet.. that was his doing. When he got to the end of the table, he took a step back.. as if he KNEW he was gonna fall off if he took another step forward. I mean WOW! We were ALL impressed!
Gary is still working like mad. He leaves so early in the morning to beat the heat of the day. I am still not working though it isnt a major concern at the moment. Gary's parents are doing well.. as is mine. My stepmom is in Korea right now visiting her family. I visited my dad and brothers last weekend.. just because. I hadnt seen one of my brothers in a very long time. I enjoyed it!
As for the oldest son.. my firstborn.. I couldnt be prouder. We got his Mississippi state scores back. David scored Advanced in Reading and Math and Proficient in Language Arts, missing Advanced by only 7 points. I am impressed and so was he! He also received his progress report. 4As, 1B and 1C. The C was in Science. He has been flunking his tests but I helped him study for this last one and the boy made a perfect score on it. He also did some extra credit work.. which was drawing either a plant or animal cell or even both and turn it in.. He did both.. and he said noone in his entire class made a 3-D picture of the cells. Brillant!
Anyways, thats about it! I am hoping I can reach Angela tomorrow to see if she'll come weigh Talon. When we went to Jonesboro, my friend Sami gave me all of Ian's old clothes and by God, there was a BIG boxful... Talon does not need clothes for a LONG TIME! I mean a really long time.. maybe the earliest he'll need them is 18 months. I really need to know what he weighs for 2 reasons.. 1) for the website and 2) what diapers is he actually in now.
Im updating pics to the website as well. I am getting a few of them developed tomorrow too.. so I can start updating his picture book. Everyone take care and enjoy them babies. |
