16 week appt and resolution
This morning we had our 16 week appt. and it was really great. As I mentioned before I had been having some spotting, which ended up lasting 9 days, two days of nothing and then started again today. So when I got the appt. she did doppler and an ultrasound. The doppler came back with 150 beats/min. So that was a good take the edge off relief! Then she did a cervical exam and determined that was were the bleeding was coming from. She said this is very common with having 50% more blood flowing thru that area so it's very sensitive. So the irritated areas were medicated and hopefully that will do the trick. Then she did the ultrasound to check for placenta location and overall baby health. Everything looked great! The baby has long arms now and we could see its spine. Its arms were wiggling around and we saw the feet too. Also, it turns out they have a specialist that comes to their clinic a couple times a week now. She said he should be able to give us a more detailed report during the 20 week close inspection ultrasound appt. Otherwise we'd just have a tech. so much better. Anyway, I feel a huge relief knowing what the real cause of the spotting is and feel like I can just start enjoying things again.

14 weeks and a little scare
Today I woke up to some spotting. So of course I was a little freaked out and called the doctor. I went in this morning and the doctor did an ultrasound. He said everything looks fine. No sign of my cervix opening or blood in the uterus. He thinks it probably left over blood finally making its way out. Who really knows, but I'll be so relieved when it's gone. It was fun to see the baby. It was so much bigger! I saw the heart beating and it was making twitchy movements. Mostly saw it from it's back side. It was neat too that he just did the ultrasound from my belly this time. Anyway, I know all of this is common, but still scary.

12 week appt
Yesterday we had our 12 week appointment. I was thinking we'd have another ultrasound, but turns out we only get one more at 20 weeks. We got to hear the baby's heart beating with doppler. It was 160 beats/ min!! Pretty amazing. The nurse had to move the wand around a little while before she found a spot where we could hear it clearly. I'm sure it will be a lot easier as the baby gets bigger. So another successful appointment!

First prenatal visit at 9 weeks
Today was our first prenatal visit and it was amazing. I was pretty nervous and Joel seemed completely calm (figures!). Definitely was a very thorough visit! Never had a full physical exam plus having to pee in a cup and have so much blood drawn. The doctor said it should be a lot easier next time around. I was definitely in shock when the baby made its appearance on the ultrasound screen! It was so cute! Its little arms and legs wiggling around. A little dancing teddy bear.  You could see the heart beating, like a flashing light.
