Whoa! We have a big baby brewing apparently. According to Dr.Pillitterri's calculations and the sono measurements; the baby's head is fairly very large for a gestation period of 34 weeks and the baby weighs at 7lbs right now. He was blown away. His reaction took me by surprise and then his sister Dr. Eileen came in to do my beta strep test thought it was too amazing. Ultimately we became the talk of the office in just a few minutes. No change in due date but he will start seeing me every 2 weeks and hopefully we'll have more of a definitive as to what he feels is more appropriate of delivery and when. He doesn't want to jump to conclusions but he doesn't want me to try and pass a large headed baby through normal delivery if it can be difficult for baby and I. In a way I was relieved to read in between the lines I have a better chance of having a c-section than having to go through the whole breathing and pushing thing. I told him I was comfortable either way as long as it's in the baby's interest.
Okay so let me back track to Sunday June 29, 2008 (week before the doc's appointment). It was a beautiful summer day and I was in heaven floating in our pool. Richie and the family was invited to a luncheon for Richie's uncle who just got home from the hospital. I won't lie, I was in no mood to go anywhere at that point because I was so content sleeping in the water with Richie. So Richie said, "we better get going". We went to Bella Napoli's Italian Restaurant to find out our family through us a surprise baby shower instead. Needless to say my bad attitude once again changed very quickly.
A lot of people were there and everyone who planned the shower (both Mom's and Jenny) put together a beautiful shower. It was so nicely decorated with grean, yellow, blue, and pink and with the Noah's Ark theme decorum too. My favors were a small water bottle with a label made for "Veronica's Baby Shower". It was so cute and I loved that it was a practical favor. So me!
Aunt Dee made pink and blue baby rattle pins for all to wear and Aunt Joy made her famous baby sugar cookies. We made out so well with all the gifts everyone showered us with. My goodness it was an awesome overwhelming amount. After awhile people had to leave because I couldn't go through opening all of them quick enough :-)
Like any occassion there are some people that could not make it. I was very disappointed especially my grandmother wasn't there but that's a whole other issue, but I was siked to see Jeanette, Ashley, and Andrea there. They live upstate and I hardly ever get the chance to see them. It was so touching they made the effort to come to be there for me.
Our baby has a great start in life with all they received. Richie and I have been busy trying to get things together so that we're as prepared as possible for when the baby arrives. Maybe sooner than later at this point. All clothes and bedding washed. Some items we didn't receive we purchased or exchanged for. I've pretty much completed packing my hospital bag and the baby's diaper bag for when we go home from the hospital.
As I was packing the baby's going home outfits (not an easy task because they're so cute) a part of me didn't know whether I should bother packing the newborn sizes vs. 0-3 or 0-6 month clothes if in fact this baby ends up being born 9 lbs or more. For all I know....I won't be delivering a baby; more like a toddler....L.O.L :-)
I have a little of each just in case. Worse comes to worse Richie will have to pick out something at the last minute from the dresser draw or closet. No biggie....ha!
It's just a matter of time now. We're very excited to see the doc next week to find out more. My guess the baby will be born much earlier than anticipated (somewhere late July).
As the baby gets bigger and stronger so are their kicks and rolls. I am in love with him/her. I look so forward to feeling and seeing the movements usually 3 times a day at a strong clip. Once I wake up in the morning, as I'm sitting at my desk at work, and right before I fall asleep. I'm happy to soon meet the baby's arrival but still in love with being pregnant with him/her.
The best is yet to come! |
