starting to walk Well, it's happening now my baby girl is starting to walk. She's taken 17 steps so far. She started to take steps without holding onto anything on Tuesday. I can't believe my baby girl's growing up so fast!

got poked My baby got her heel poked today for the blood test. A WIC employee did it. Rae's hemoglobin's a little high but not in the danger zone. They have to send out a blood sample so that Wayne County can test her blood for lead. We got a bunch of coupons for milk, cheese, juice, cereal, eggs and dry peas or beans. We don't go back now until October. RaeAnna didn't cry or flinch when she got poked. It was one of those fast poking needles like diabetics use to test their blood every day. I'm so happy she didn't cry. I was so worried and now I'm happy everything went well.

doctor's appointment-12 months So today was RaeAnna's doctor's appointment. She had 2 shots, MMR and Chicken Pox. She has to get her blood drawn to check for lead and anemia. We couldn't get the blood drawing done today because the lab was closed. I would've wanted to wait anyway because 2 shots in one day is enough. I'm really worried about getting her blood drawn. I'm afraid she's going to move and get hurt worse. I know how uncomfortable and painful it is for adults to have their blood drawn, I couldn't imagine how bad it is for a child. Rae cries just for her shots but this is going to be worse because it takes a little longer to draw blood than to give shots. Rae is 18 pounds (25%), 29 inches (75%), and 44cm (25% head circumference). The doctor said no milk or even milk/formula combo at night. This is NOT going to go well with Rae. I tried one time giving her a sippy cup with water and she wanted nothing to do with it. The doctor also said she can have anything to eat except shellfish, peanut butter and chocolate. She'll have to wait until she's 2 for peanut butter. She also said Rae can have 2-4 ounces of juice but she really doesn't want her to have it because it's not a requirement and it rots teeth. So I'll only give her juice if she's constipated or once in a while but not all the time. The doctor was really impressed that Rae can drink from a straw. Tomorrow is Rae's WIC appointment at 3pm. Then in 3 months she goes back to the doctor's. For whatever reason today Rae had really bad poop. I mean this was the worst by far! She had poop all the way up her back and all over her clothes. She pooped like that twice today. I couldn't believe it! Well, that's it for now. I'll update maybe tomorrow if not I'll update when Rae gets her blood drawn. I hope it's not too bad.

went to the Golden Corral So yesterday Darrell and I decided to go out to the Golden Corral to celebrate RaeAnna's birthday just the 3 of us. Rae had some macaroni and cheese and pieces of pot roast. She kept looking at this little girl. I'm not sure of her nationality but the little girl was beautiful. RaeAnna wanted to play with her so bad that she didn't eat as well as I thought she would. We also gave Rae a cupcake before we went to the Golden Corral. It was one of the ones from her birthday. Since I told the waiter that it was RaeAnna's 1st birthday, he decided before we left to surprise RaeAnna. Well, needless to say we were surprised too because we knew Red Robin clapped and sang happy birthday but not the Golden Corral. Well, they did! They clapped and sang happy birthday and RaeAnna started crying. I felt so bad for her. Of all the sweets that they had at the Golden Corral they gave her a chocolate cupcake. Of course I didn't let her have it because she's never had chocolate. Besides that she was full anyway. The kind of cupcakes we gave her for her party and then on her birthday were yellow cake and white frosting. It was a nice thought of the waiters and waitresses of the Golden Corral. We ended up leaving after that because it getting time for it to close.
