Today's appointment
I had an ultrasound today and it was so cute. RaeAnna had her feet all the way up by her head and her hands were holding her feet. I was told that my Fibroid hasn't grown and everything looks good. RaeAnna weighs 2 pounds and 10 ounces already. Nora the nurse practitioner told me my blood test was negative so I got the RhoGam shot today. I had no idea they gave it in the hip. I was highly surprised because it didn't hurt at all. My belly was measured and we listened to the heart beat on the fetal doppler. Nora said everything was good. Then Nora talked with my doctor and other doctors about the NST because I was supposed to be monitored today. They said usually an NST is done at 32 weeks so they decided at 30 weeks I should have 1 done. So I didn't have the NST today. My next appointment is on May 30th.

Darrell went to the Red Cross today to donate blood for the first time. He wanted to find out his blood type. We will find out his blood type on Friday. After he gave blood he sat down and had water. He was supposed to sit there for 10 minutes but then he started feeling sick. He got sick in a basket then he layed down with a cool cloth and breathed into a paper bag. He was so pale! So I ended up driving him home. He's been fine the rest of the day.

Another trip to the lab
Nora the nurse practitioner called on Friday and said I needed more blood taken before Monday. I needed to have it taken before I get the RhoGam shot otherwise I wouldn't be able to get it on Monday. Anyway that was supposed to be taken when I had my glucose test same with the vials they needed on Tuesday for my lupus test. So I went yesterday to get my blood drawn but I almost didn't because the lady couldn't find my lab slip. Turns out Nora put my lab slip under K instead of J for my last name. Thank goodness the lady looked under K or I would've had a wasted trip and not been able to get my shot on Monday. On a happier note, my mom and I went shopping and I got 2 more maternity shirts, bigger panties and a couple of nursing bras that are much roomier and so comfortable. My mom also got a outfit for RaeAnna. It is so cute it's mint green with a little design on it and a matching diaper cover.

Tuesday 5-2-06
I had to give 2 more vials of blood. The lab had called me and said that they needed 2 more vials for my lupus test. This lupus test is called Russell Viper Venom. The guy that took my blood didn't act very experienced. He was looking to see which size gloves to put on, put the alcohol swab and gauze on the arm of the chair (gee how sanitary), then he was looking for the blue strap to tie my arm. When it finally came to him drawing blood, he was not very gentle. He jabbed the needle in took the blood then untied my arm and wasn't gentle about pulling the needle out either. Then I had to hold the gauze on my arm for about 2 minutes until he finally gave me tape. Thank goodness that's over with! Hopefully I never get him again when it comes to drawing blood.

On Monday.....
I had an ob/gyn appointment. I found out I gained 1 pound so for the whole pregnancy that's a total of 12 pounds. Some of my blood test results are still pending but my hemoglobin and platelet count was normal. I also passed my 1 hour glucose test thank God! I asked my doctor if my dad could donate his blood for me in case of hemorrhage since I'm on Heparin. She said yes since he's B- and I'm AB-. So he will have to go 2 times before I give birth. I guess he has to go to the red cross to donate and I'll have to ask if there's a cost and if so how much. The baby's heart beat was 150bpm. I also had it confirmed with my doctor that I can have the baby naturally instead of c-section. I'm very happy about that! Also Dr. Thomson said she'll tell me the baby's blood type when she's born. I'm so happy about that too! My next appointment will be on May 8th. First I'll have an ultrasound, then I'll be put on a fetal monitor for a 1/2 hour and then I see Nora the nurse practioner. Nora will give me my RhoGam shot at this next appointment.

On a different note Darrell's sick. He started with a sore throat and a stuffy/runny nose and a headache. He was running a low grade temp a couple of days ago. He had to go to the hospital on Monday night for an irregular heart beat. On the ekg some Premature Ventricular Contractions showed up. They weren't concerned about them. He also had blood drawn for cardiac enzymes and had a chest x-ray. Everything came out fine. He was released from the hospital at 1:30am. Then yesterday he saw Dr. Shah and had another ekg done. It came out normal with no PVC's. He also had a throat culture done to see if he has strep throat. Darrell has to see a cardiologist and be put on a heart monitor for 24 hours. We have to wait though until we get authorization from BCN. Dr. Shah gave Darrell a prescription for Amoxicillan and told him to take over the counter Advil cold and sinus. So I hope he starts feeling better. It's kind of funny because whenever he's sick he claims to be dying. Men are such babies let me tell you!
