How soon will it be now?
The night before last I took another dose of castor oil and oj mixed. I ended up getting diarrhea so bad that my butt hurt. No more castor oil for me! This morning my husband left for work. So I then got up to use the bathroom. I went pee and wiped when I wiped I had a yellowish brown color on the wipe. I'm still using wipes because my butt's still a little sore. So I put some more A&D ointment on my butt. Then I got up and went into the kitchen. I felt a lot of wetness on my inner thigh so I put my hand down there to see what it was. I had a brown glob of mucus about the size of a teaspoon or tablespoon. So I just lost my mucus plug! Yay!!! Hopefully I will have my baby girl soon now.

with doctor's help...
I asked my doctor if I can naturally try to induce labor. She said yes being as though I'm 36 weeks and have had the steroid injections that the baby should be fine. She mentioned trying castor oil, intercourse and said she could try to stretch my cervix. I tried castor oil mixed with oj last night and had really bad menstral like cramps throughout the night to where I couldn't sleep. I did poop twice but didn't have diarrhea and didn't throw up. My doctor stretched my cervix today and said I was dilated to 2cm and a little more than 50% effaced so she stretched me to 3cm. She said my cervix definitely changed since she checked me last Friday. I asked her that if this doesn't work if I could be induced since I want her to deliver my baby and she'll be out of town the 12th-18th. She said the only way I could get induced is to first get an amniocentesis to check the maturity of the baby. So if I don't go into labor by then I have that appointment on Monday at 8am and then an ultrasound appointment at 3:30pm at the hospital. So since I've been home I went for a long walk with my husband and our dogs, had sex and just took a dose of castor oil at 10:50pm. So we'll see if anything happens.

Almost time?
Today I had my doctor's appointment with Nora the nurse practioner. When I left a urine specimen there was little pieces of discharge that was offwhite but not yellow. Nora said it sounds like it's part of my mucus plug. I also had a culture for GBS. My husband and I told Nora that yesterday when we went to the hospital for an NST that the doctor checked me and said my cervix was 50% effaced and 0cm dilated. So she checked my cervix today and said I'm still 50% effaced but now I'm 1cm dilated. She said don't quote her on it but she thinks I'll go into labor within 2 weeks possibly even next week. I do know that sometimes you stay dilated and effaced for weeks without any further progress.I do hope though that I have my baby before July 12th when my doctor goes out of town. I also had blood work done to check my platelet count. Other than that everything's going good. My next appointment if I make it is July 10th for my doctor's appointment and ultrasound. I still have NST's every Tuesday and Friday.

Baby shower/Preterm labor
I had my baby shower on June 3rd. Everything went well and it was real exciting. We got a lot of stuff! I was drinking water like crazy because I was having lots of contractions. On Wednesday, June 7th I had a 2nd NST which RaeAnna passed. The nurse told my doctor I was having lots of contractions. My doctor checked my cervix and said it was still closed but she was sending me to the hospital to stop the contractions. I went to Annapolis at 6pm on Wednesday so I ended up missing my 1st childbirth class:-(. They gave me an iv to rehydrate me and gave me a shot of terbutaline (brethane). My contractions stopped immediately but picked back up after 1 hour or so. They gave me a 2nd shot of terbutaline and the same thing happened. So after that I was put on a iv drip of magnesium sulfate and an antibiotic. I was on the highest dosage of magnesium sulfate that I could be on which was 3 grams. I was so miserable! I couldn't focus or see straight, was slurring my words, couldn't walk, and I couldn't get cool because the medicine makes you warm and flushed. I couldn't eat or drink but could only have ice chips. I threw up 4 times and finally I was given something so I wouldn't get sick. I was also given steroid shots to develop baby's lungs. I was transferred from Annapolis to Oakwood because Oakwood has a NICU and Annapolis doesn't. They kept checking my cervix but nothing was happening. I got an ultrasound and they said my baby's in the head down position. I was put on 2 grams of magnesium sulfate after awhile. They tried to have me walk to the bathroom but I was still weak and took a slow fall on the way to the bathroom. Only 1 nurse was helping me so she had to call another nurse. I could finally have a clear liquid diet. I was then taken off the magnesium sulfate after I got all the steroid shots. So finally I could have real food. I was doing really well for the whole night I had hardly any contractions. My doctor came in and did the fetal fibronectin test but said it could come up positive because I was given a vaginal exam even though it was past the 24 hours. This test is supposed to say if I will go into labor in a week. The test came back positive but doctor's not concerned. My contractions started up again and I ended up getting 2 shots again of terbutaline. Finally the doctor said she's sending me home since my cervix wasn't doing anything. She gave me a prescription for oral terbutaline that I have to take every 4-6 hours until gone. I only have enough pills until tomorrow because then I see my doctor and we'll go from there. I'm on modified bed rest for 1 week. So I was in the hospital from Wednesday 6pm until yesterday at 1pm. My ribs and back were so so sore from the hospital bed. They are still a little sore. Since I've been in the hospital I have been getting acid reflux bad. I don't know if it's because I was lying down so much or what but I'm still getting it every few hours. So that was my "excitement" for the week. Hopefully I can have RaeAnna and she'll be healthy and not too early.
