First week baby appointment
Today we saw RaeAnna's pediatrician Dr.Saxena. She asked a bunch of questions about my pregnancy and RaeAnna's eating habits. I told her I put RaeAnna on Isomil formula because my nephew and I were allergic to certain formula's. I feed RaeAnna Isomil during the night so Darrell and I can get some sleep. She used to eat 1 1/2 oz but now eats 2 oz. During the day I feed her breast milk. She used to eat 1-1 1/2 oz and now eats 2 oz of breast milk. The doctor showed us to clean her cord with alcohol as close to the belly button as possible. She also checked RaeAnna's eyes for yellowness and listened to her heart and lungs. RaeAnna now weighs 6 lbs 3 1/2 oz. Her next appointment is August 21st.

Got Sleep?
RaeAnna sleeps a lot during the day but is up quite a bit during the night. Thank goodness my husband took a week off of work to help me out. I have no idea how I'm going to do it when Darrell goes back to work. He's even signed up for overtime so that means even more time of being alone with RaeAnna with no help at all. This is my 3rd day of feeling no pain from the episiotomy. I can't believe Rae's already 1 week old. Well, enough rambling I have to feed her at 2am and then go to bed.

I had her!!!!
On Monday, my doctor stripped my membranes and then she said she was going to see if the hospital could fit me in for an amniocentesis since I was already having an ultrasound done. Well, unfortunately they couldn't fit me in so the doctor gave us a plan B. When she had stripped my membranes I had bloody show. She said to tell the hospital I was having contractions and bleeding and not to mention her stripping my membranes. So I did that and they monitored me on an NST for a few hours. Then the on call doctor checked my cervix and called my doctor. My doctor asked the on call doctor to break my water. At 5:00pm my water was broken. I went for a couple of walks. My contractions started to hurt more. The next on call doctor checked my cervix and I was at 4cm and fully effaced. I asked for an epidural and she said are you sure you want one right now. My mom said well it might take awhile to be ordered so yes get one now. Mind you this doctor has never had children so I wanted to slap her. Well, once I got the epidural I didn't feel much but my contractions lessened so I had to get pitocin. My left leg was completely numb. At around 10pm the on call doctor checked my cervix and I was at 9cm. The nurse had to stright cath me since I couldn't get up to use the bathroom nor could I feel the urge to go. At 12:00am I got a second straight catheter and this time the nurse said is that hair? She opened me up more and it was hair. The baby's head was 3/4 of an inch from poking out. So she said your next. Meanwhile my doctor had to hurry up because she just got done delivering the lady across the hall's baby. So at about 12:15am my doctor came in and I started pushing. At 12:36am RaeAnna was born on 7-11-06. The cord was wrapped around her neck so the doctor cut the cord. She let Darrell cut part of the cord. I also had to have an episiotomy. So now I'm a little sore. But my baby girl is so precious and beautiful!

possible induction tomorrow
Tomorrow at 8am I have an appointment with my doctor. I'm supposed to have an amniocentesis/ultrasound to check the baby's maturity. If the baby's mature enough then I might get induced sometime tomorrow. So I could have my baby by Tuesday :-)
