Baby has arrived!

Bleeding Gums Murphy

My gums have been bleeding each time I brush my teeth for a couple of weeks now.

It's disgusting and at first freaked me out each time.  I had gotten kinda used to it, until just now I was in the bathroom plucking my eyebrows for goodness sake and I tasted blood in my mouth!

Sure enough, a spot on my top gum was bleeding!

This is getting ridiculous!  Just call me Bleeding Gums Murphy.

39 weeks

Not feeling too good today.

Not sure if it is just being this far along, and feeling constantly tired or if it is the change in the weather.  I feel exhausted and a bit chesty.

All I want to do is sleep.

I am 39 weeks today and on the homestraight.  It is strange sitting round wondering just when labour will begin.  Would be so much easier if I knew!

Think I am just going to take it REAL easy today.  Reading, resting and food.  Thank goodness the weekend is coming up, at least Caleb and I can spend 2 days together inching closer to baby's arrival.

In Bloom

It took about 37 weeks, but I finally have the pregnancy skin and hair you read about it books.  Thicker, stronger hair and smoother, plumper skin.  I waited and waited all pregnancy, because skin and hair aren't my best features, (trust me), and finally, finally at 37 weeks or so... it kicked it!

LOL.

I will actually miss the way my hair feels.  I have even taken to wearing it out alot, something I don't normally do as it is very fly away usually.  What a shame that I can't keep it...

If I could devise a list of things I would like to keep post pregnancy and things I would like to give back this is what they would be.

GIVE BACKS

  • the added pressure on the bladder... (no more endless trips to the toilet)
  • soft ligaments... (no more hobbling round and turning like an invalid ambling over a mountain in bed)
  • tiredness...(no more tiredness, even after a marathon sleep session)
  • the bad taste in my mouth (yep, still got the stamp glue taste going on)
  • the weak lower back that plays up every time I exert myself
  • the insatiable hunger (please body, give me a break)

KEEPS

  • the increased boob size (of course, everyone would keep this one, right?)
  • the thicker, glossier hair (can anyone say pantene?)
  • the stronger nails (again, not my strongest point usually, no pun intended)
  • the plumper checks and rounder face (I have a LONG face)
  • the general curvier body (oh, to feel like a woman)

Unfortuantely, I think most of the things on my keep list will fade away and I will be left much the same as I was before I got pregnant, if not a slightly more faded version of myself.

It is a strange thing to get my head around really.  After 9 long months of feeling heavier... experiencing such a DRASTIC change physically, to go back to being a little bean pole like before will be really strange.

Most of the ladies in my family like to tell me that I will never be skinny again.  Heck, they have been telling me that since I was 12.

'Just wait til you have your children!  I used to be skinny like you.'

I guess only time will tell.

So for now, I am just enjoying the last few moments (be they days or weeks) that I have being this pregnant woman in full bloom.

Getting there...

On Saturday I used my gift voucher and got my pregnancy massage and foot ritual.  It was wonderful!  I felt so relaxed, sleepy and appreciative to be experiencing such a blissful moment.

The foot ritual was great as I haven't been able to bend down and give my feet and legs from the calves down a good scrub for about a month.  Usually, I attempt to akwardly do it in the shower but it kinda hurts my back and groin otherwise I get Caleb to scrub them for me if he is in the shower too.  So having a beauty therapist slough away at them with peppermint scented scrub was a beautiful feeling!  They came up all shiny and soft as she then rubbed coconut cream and oils into them.  :)

Thanks Lou and Ali for the extremely thoughtful gift!

On Saturday night we completed the baby's room.  Yay!  Caleb put together the shelves he painted and drilled them in place on the wall and then he hung the 3 pictures I made.  Check out the album for some pics of the pics!

Yesterday we put the baby capsule into the car, which was no easy feat.  It took a LONG time!  And I will be glad when the baby is too big for it and simply sits in a baby seat facing forwards rather than back!

I also began making my meals-to-freeze.  I cooked a monster batch of spaghetti bolognese and plated it into a heap of freezer containers all labeled and ready to be defrosted when life is more complicated and cooking a meal is the last thing either Caleb or I feel like doing.

I am going to spend the rest of this week turning the bulk meat we bought on the weekend into other meals and stocking up the freezer... and then...once they are all done... everything will be in place and we will be ready to go... then the real waiting will begin, I guess.
