2nd Doctor Visit
I went for my 2nd doctor check-up yesterday.  Everything is going well!  I heard the heartbeat again on the clinic machine.  I have gained 4lbs so far and the doc is thinking that 25 will be about what I end up gaining in the end.  I had a ton of questions for her this time but the answers were very easy.  I purchased a pregnancy belly button ring at www.pregnancypiercings.com that I am going to try and wear so I don't have to take mine out.  I'm not ready to let go of it yet!  I have had it for almost 10 years now...wow!  I'm still wearing my regular clothes but I'll have to go shopping soon.  I still haven't told work yet either.  Doesn't look like I'm going to get my review anytime soon so I may just have to let the cat out of the bag.  I picked up a really bad head cold last week that I am just getting over now.  I was out of commission for about 3 days.  I haven't gone to bed at 9pm 3 days in a row....ever!  Not my style!  I'm definitely feeling much better today.  Brad and I went to the Waunabowl for dinner last night before it got too smokey because I really wanted a BLT sandwich from there.  YUM!!!!!!  :) I'm currently in the process of searching for baby bedding.  It is way too complicated!  I just want to pick one and be done with it.  Other than that, no news here!  I'm off to start getting ready for errands.  Talk to you soon!

Answer to Aunt T's Guestbook Entry

Did you pick a "b" name for the boy after "Brad" and "m" for Melissa????

We actually did not!  Once it was brought to our attention though we liked the names even more!  The funny part is that we picked these names a long time ago.  We had one of those conversations after we had started dating that went 'if we were to stay together, and if we got married, and if we had children, what would we like the names to be?'.  We have had these names picked out for about 3 years now!

First 3 Months

Where to start!  It is a little hard to start this in my 3rd month because so many thoughts have gone through my head since we first found out.  I'll give it a try though.   (This will probably be the longest post since it covers 3 months!)

Brad and I found out we were pregnant at the beginning of December.  We were having a horrible week...the snow wouldn't stop, Brad crashed his truck, we were getting a new floor so our house was torn up, etc.  I decided to take the test not because I was having the 'you might be pregnant signs' but because I was having first month of pregnancy symptoms.  I took it the morning our floor was being stained upstairs and I was working from home because Brad had my car.  I pretty much knew it was going to be positive so I wasn't too surprised by my heart still skipped a beat.  I was SOOO nervous b/c I didn't have any good food in the house, I couldn't go buy food, and they were staining which is toxic!  What a day!  I stayed downstairs for most of the day and covered my nose if I went upstairs.  We really had to air the house out once Brad got home too.  I called Brad early in the day and said "hey, you need to take me to the doctor at 4".  He said ok and that was it!  Only later when he called back did he he ask why.  When I told him I think he was kinda shocked b/c he didn't say much.  The pregnancy was confirmed and we were then scheduled for an early ultrasound b/c I had NO idea how far along I could be since I still had period-like symptoms.  Turned out I was 5 1/2 weeks....the baby was just a little light on the ultrasound but it had a strong heartbeat!  Brad was very nervous to tell people but I on the other hand wanted to tell my family.  When I say family it doesn't mean mom, dad, sister...it means FAMILY.  :)  So our family found out and Brad ended up telling a bunch of friends around Christmas.  Then we started getting nervous b/c I was STILL having period-like symptoms so we were worried that I could be miscarrying.  We had another altrasound a few weeks ago and I had a healthy pregnant 10 week old baby growing inside of me.  In this one we could see arm and leg nubbies, the umbilical cord, and the baby was dancing!  :)  The heartbeat was very stable still too.  We felt much better!  I am now 13 weeks pregnant and we are feeling much more confident in this pregnancy even though I'm still having "the symptoms" once in awhile.  Oh well!

As far as everything else goes, Brad is being very cute.  He is telling B.S.  (Baby Straw) about baseball already.  For the past 3 months I've been very grumpy but I seem to be in a better mood for the past 2 weeks or so.  Yeah!  No morning sickness so I've lucked out with that one.  I've been SUPER tired and have slight backaches, but that is about it.  I do seem to get hungry every few hours too.  Besides being nervous about miscarrying, I was also being very harsh on myself on what I did and what I ate.  I have since learned to relax a little bit and take it one day at a time.  I don't dictate every little thing I eat but I try to have some fruits or veggies, milk, and water daily.  I splurge every now and then on chocolate and chips....and sometimes on french fries.  :)  I haven't had too many cravings yet, but I waiting for them!  It will definitely be something weird.  I absolutely cannot eat alfredo sauce though.  Ick...and I used to love it!  The cat likes to sit on my stomach and relax still and I got it cleared from the doc that this is ok.  I'm thinking the purring calms the baby and relaxes it.  I am kinda in the tweener stage...I'm gaining a little weight, my clothes are a little tight or too small, but I'm not looking 'pregnant' enough for maternity clothes.....I just kinda look like I got a beer belly growing.  You can tell though if I wear a form fitting sweater.  I still haven't told work yet because I'm waiting for my review but I don't think I'm going to make it.  The reviews aren't the top priority right now.  We'll see!  I think thats about it for now...I can't think of any other blubs to write.

Thank you everyone for being so supportive!!!  I'll be in touch soon...my next doc appointment is next Friday.  :)

Love,  Mel

Baby Names

Lindsey came up with some cute baby names so that we can refer to the baby now while talking even though it is currently genderless and namesless.  We'll hopefully know the gender in 2 months but for now we like Baby Straw or Strawlet!

Baby Straw, Uni-Straw, Madebryce (or MB), Brycelynn, Strawlet, Mini-me, Mini-Straw, Kiddo/kiddie

Something based on the place/date it was conceived (e.g. my friend nicknamed her baby "DC" because it was conceived in Washington DC) lol - in our case Home!

 Thanks Linds!  :)
