Contractions...They're not just for English class!
So we went to the doctor today. When she came in to talk to us, she took one look at my belly and I think she wanted to jump back in shock. Thomas has a tendency to be really lumpy, so he was lying completely sideways which is pretty funny to look at. The good thing about our visit, though, was that she told me I was having contractions. I know it may sound crazy, but I'm a little relieved just to know that I'm not just making this all up in my head. She wants me to drink lots and lots and lots and lots and lots of water, and sit down as much as possible. She also gave me a prescription for my heartburn which she said should help with the nausea that I have been having as well.
We are finally to the point where I have to go in every two weeks, so at least I feel a little better about how often I will get checked up on while all these awesome contractions are happening.
Otherwise, life is good. Work is exhausting. I'm not sure how long I can keep up this pace, but I'm going to try while I can.
We took our hospital tour yesterday. It's funny the preconceptions that we get in our heads about things. I know that life is not like TV, but I had a picture of what I thought a delivery room would look like as well as a nursery. I am glad to say that Northside was much nicer than the picture in my head. I'm glad we decided to go with that hospital. It may be a little father from our house, but I feel so much more confident about the quality of care given there. Even while we were on the tour they were already taking care of me since our guide must have asked me at least six times if I needed a wheel chair. (I guess I looked like I needed it!)

More fun on the pregnancy front
So there's one week left until school starts back in full swing and I'm more than a little apprehensive about how on earth I am going to survive. I am exhausted! I am worried that I won't make it working all the way through October. The other fun bit I have discovered is that restless leg syndrome (which already affects me when not pregnant) is apparently aggravated by pregnancy and anti-nausea medicine. So basically, I am doing all that I can to make sure that my legs hurt all the time. Yay!
Otherwise, things are going well. Thomas seems to enjoy dancing and going crazy with kicks and punches. Yesterday, he had finally calmed down when the Guns n Roses song 'Sweet Child of Mine' came on the radio. Apparently, Thomas loves that song, because he went spastic. I thought it was funny. I never thought any kid of Matt's would be a Guns N Roses fan.

I passed! Wahoo! I passed the latest blood sugar test!
Also, the pictures from my maternity shoot are up on the web. I have a few of them posted here on the blog, but you can see all of them at www.seitzphotography.com. When you get into the site, go to client galleries, then Families where you will find Jaime and Matt Adams gallery. Personally, I like the pictures of Matt and I the best, but I could be wrong.

I failed...
So I failed my glucose test which means I have to go in for another sugar test that will take 3 hours. Yippee! If I fail this test too then it means I have gestational diabetes so I will have to limit my sugar intake until after Thomas joins us, as Chris put it, for some 'fresh air.' That is not going well for me. Last night I dreamt about eating handfuls of cake icing. Matt calls me dessert ADD when we are in the grocery store because all I do is get distracted by the cookie aisle.
We started looking for a day care today. That started to make this whole baby thing a bit more real.I think finding a place that makes me happy is going to be difficult. One place we have looked at and liked the website for is
SunbrookAcademy
in case any of you all want to check it out and give us an opinion. We have to schedule a tour and find out how much it costs and things like that, but I really like that it is NAEYC accredited. Some of the other places we have looked at are KinderCare, Kids R Kids, and the Sunshine House. All three seem like good programs, but they aren’t with NAEYC, so that makes me a little more apprehensive about using them. We’ll see how the tours go, though.
Today was also our maternity shoot with the ever prestigious Seitz Photography Studio.I will try to post some photos from that when they are ready or the site where they are posted.I know we are all excited about photos of me with a fat belly!
