First ultrasound appt So yesterday was our first ultrasound appointment at 7weeks, 4days. We were both kinda nervous about going, but a good nervous I think. I wanted reassurance that there was a heartbeat since I haven't really felt pregnant (except the boobs growing). They tried an abdominal u/s first and they could spot the sac, but it was hard to see the baby, so they did a transvaginal. We could definitely see the little bean much better this way. It was so neat to see the heart beating--nice and strong at 130!! The bean measured 1cm, exactly 7 weeks, so we are right on schedule with a due date of Nov 22nd. We felt so good after the appt and reassured that everything looks great. I think my weight gain is 2 lbs so far, and my BP was 116/70. We go back in 4 weeks for our big visit with the health history, bloodwork, and followup u/s--hopefully we will be able to see more than just a bean!! I feel great, am still working out 2-3 times a week, although I am a bit slower on the elliptical these days!! We feel so fortunate that this has been nothing but a pleasant experience so far, and cannot wait for what is to come--hopefully just more good!! We love yall, thanks for sharing this most joyous time of our lives.

Exactly one week It has been exactly one week since I went to the OB to confirm the pregnancy, which makes this week 5. Even though I am only 5 weeks, I told my boss this week--actually she guessed I was pregnant when I told her I had to talk to her--she was wonderful about it--I think I make the 6th one who is due this year!--I wanted her to know in case I got to the point where I had to call out sick--the way that place is though, when I go back to work on Tuesday the whole unit will know I am preggers!! I told my boss that I would need a part time position when I came back from leave, and she said not to even worry about it. In fact, she said it may be possible that I could work one 12 hr shift and 2 6hr shifts instead of two 12hr shifts (that's part time, as opposed to now, three 12hr shifts are full time). I was really happy about that b/c that would alleviate our childcare situation totally!! I was supposed to work Sun night, Mon night, and Tues night this week, but I was put on call Sun night and Tues night, so I only had to work one night this week--my paycheck will suffer, but it was nice to have the time to spend w/ Drew and get paid $1.50/hr for it. I do have a class all day at work tomorrow though for which I have been studying for all day today, which will make up some of the missed time. We went to the grocery store Sun night to stock pile pregnant food--100% juices (orange, apple, vegetable), almonds, string cheese, fruits & veggies, whole wheat English muffins, chicken, etc. I think not being able to have my sodas is going to be the hardest thing for me. I am so used to the diet drinks and artificial sweeteners, but OB says no, that's why I went with the juices--I am diluting them though so I don't get as many calories from the sugar. I've been addicted to the message boards this week on thenest.com (part of theknot.com website). I am on the 1st trimester board and it is so nice to talk to girls who are at different stages in the 1st trimester and experience different things. I like reading about the ultrasounds the best--makes me so excited for our first one--April 9th @ 3:00, 7 weeks--we should be able to hear the heartbeat by then--I can't wait!! We have decided to wait to find out the sex until delivery. Still haven't gained an ounce (130lbs), I guess that's a good thing. Hopefully I won't start showing until the 2nd trimester--I have 2 bridesmaids dresses to get into @ 11 & 14 weeks--don't think it'll be a problem. I am still working out at the gym same as before--about 3.5 miles on the elliptical machine, followed by abs ad weights. I try to go 2-3 times a week--today was a lazy day though as I was studying. Am looking forward to the entire weekend plus Monday off--Drew gets his wisdom teeth out Friday, so say a prayer that everything goes okay--hopefully it will be better than when I had it done--I puked for 2 weeks!! I am so blessed to have you all in my life, and am so glad that I get to experience this most amazing journey with you by my side. Thank you for the love and support. Post your comments in the guestbook, I love reading them, and I love you all!! God Bless, Nene

First week So I've known since last Wednesday that I am having a baby. We have chosen to use a midwife, and after meeting with her last week, I am confident we made the right choice. We are so excited about having a baby. We have been praying for a while for it to happen in the Lord's time, and he has answered our prayers. We are lucky to have conceived on the first attempt at this. We told our family and close friends as soon as we found out. I think my youngest sister was the most excited. We are still a bit nervous about getting through the first 8 weeks with the high miscarriage risk and all. After that, I think we will be able to relax a bit more. Except for a few backaches, and sore breasts, I feel no different than I did before I found out I was pregnant, probably because it is still so early. I haven't felt sick at all yet. I prepared for this pregnancy by losing 17 pounds last year. I wanted to be at an ideal weight before we got pregnant, so that I would be more comfortable during my pregnancy and not have to lose as much weight afterwards. My staring weight is 130 lbs. We go for our first u/s on April 9th to hear the heartbeat. I must say I am nervous and excited at the same time. My biggest prayer right now is that we deliver a healthy baby. We would prefer a boy first, but will blessed with whatever the Lords decided to bring to us. We can't believe we already have names picked out--Aaron Lane for a boy, and Hailey Marie for a girl. I am pretty sure we are going to wait until the baby is born to find out what we are having. I think it will pregnancy that much more exciting! There is so much to do to prepare for a new baby it's unreal, but so exciting!! I am looking forward to the next eight months as we get to experience the greatest blessing from the Lord!!
