Marayla NOs the rules - Mommy

We have moved past the constant fighting and the frequent hitting stage.  It still exists of course but there is much less, and we are onto a new horizon of understanding.  Julia and Marayla are growing faster intellectually than I have ever experienced, and are endlessly curious about the world.  They point to everything they see and try to say the corresponding word.  Just the other night Ryan was mimicking Marayla’s speech and she hit him because she wanted him to say the actual word and not repeat her gibberish!  So, lately I have been saying NO very clearly to an action that should not be repeated, and Marayla is now repeating me.  She has started doing the said action and then following it with a NO.  Like throwing food on the floor than saying NO, or walking to the trash can and saying NO, or going to the Diaper Genie and saying NO.  I am trying not to laugh at her as I want to support this behavior, but I am finding it hysterical!  Julia knows the rules too but she is not as good of a listener and is a bit more headstrong in her actions, while Marayla thinks things through a little more.  My thinker is also my hitter, as she sits and stews on things or remembers something that happened a while ago.  She gets this look in her eye and I think she is going over things in her head, and then she starts to hit herself on the side of her head (there is a sound that both Julia and Marayla make when they are hitting themselves) and then sometimes me too.  But at least she knows what is right and wrong!

A sample menu - Mommy
We have officially dropped formula and bottles.  The girls are finally drinking milk well, despite my worrisome agonizing over it.  It seems that getting rid of formula helped their milk consumption.  So, they are completely eating table food and loving it.  Julia is a hearty eater and is not too picky; Marayla eats well but doesn't consume as much and is more particular.  At least half of everything the girls eat is organic as we are trying to buy as much organic items as possible.

Yesterday they ate:
Breakfast: Cheerios, they always start the day with some dry cereal on a plate which I put on the floor while I make their breakfast, a cinnamon and maple waffle and watermelon
Snack: YoBaby Yogurt and a banana cookie
Lunch: Turkey sausage crumbles, mixed veggies (carrots, peas and corn) and pear chunks
Snack: Rabbit cheese crackers and honey graham bear cookies
Dinner: BBQ Chicken, and more mixed veggies—almost all of which was thrown on the floor

Marayla's other top front tooth...
just broke through this week!  No wonder she hasn't wanted her teeth brushed and has gone into hysterics every night!!!

There was a journal entry that we wrote about Julia's two top teeth coming in but we were incorrect, she still only has one.

Animal Sounds - Mommy
Both Julia and Marayla are mimicking animal sounds.  It started by Ryan and I observing Marayla saying woof, woof while our neighbors dog was barking.  Since then we have been working on getting her and Julia to learn what animals say.  They both LOVE dogs and love to say woof, woof.  Marayla also roars like a lion.  Yesterday I was working on getting them to quack like a duck and they tried to make a similar sound.  Julia's favorite book is a Baby Einstein called Neighborhood Animals, so I read that about a dozen times a day to her.  It has actual pictures of animals, along with drawings of them and descriptions of their characteristics.

In addition to animal sounds, both girls can say ball very clearly, and just the other day Julia said button so clear, but since then we haven't heard the word.  They are thirsty for knowledge these days, when we are playing all together they throw books at me and sit on my lap for me to read the book over and over again!
