Julia's baby teeth - Mommy Julia cut a tooth!!! Her bottom, front left. Ryan and I knew that she was teething and this would explain the lack of sleep lately. So, I am guessing that Marayla is just a bit behind her sis. This could also explain the fever.

A fever and new sounds - Mommy Julia is sick with a fever and the sniffles. She and her sister were tag teaming me two nights ago with one being up almost all night. I couldn't figure out what was going on. Julia felt warm and was a bit sniffly, but it was Marayla who ended up in our bed after hours of in and out of bed. That morning Julia awoke with a high fever and lethargy. Poor baby just laid around all day. Her face was cherry red, her eyes glassy and we barely saw a smile. We called the Pediatrician (it took me all day to get up the courage) and luckily they just wanted us to watch her closely and give her Tylenol--I was so afraid they were going to send us to the ER. The girls slept through the night last night--Thanks sweeties-and Julia is looking better today.
Marayla is so funny. The last few days she is experimenting with new sounds. She is our singer, a high pitched opera like sound. The newest one sounds like a motorboat, like an engine underwater. She does it for most of the day, it is so cute, unless it is associated with food because then it ends up on my face!

Just a few years ago... - Ari I was still figuring out my life. I was still growing and changing.
I moved from San Antonio to live with my Dad, back in my hometown, Allentown, PA. I knew that I wasn't going backwards by going home, I needed a safe space and a better relationship with my Dad and this was how I would catapult myself to the next stage of my life. So, I took it easy with my Daddio. I stayed working at Old Navy (doing lots of overtime), I spent time with my old friends, made a few new friends, and was a little girl at home. For over a year I was in a cocoon of love, security and guidance. When the time was right, I moved to my Mom and Ed's house and immediately rekindled my friendship with Ryan. It was clear from early on that we needed to be together (forever). I only stayed with my Mom and Ed for about a month then moved in with Ryan. At that time I was working three jobs, at the Gap, American College of Nurse Midwives and The Glen Echo Park Partnership (the job I kept through the birth of the girls). I feel like up until this point I took my life slow, I was a late bloomer (termed by my parents). I was fine with that until Ryan and I got back together.
I think we hit the fast forward button after our first, rekindled kiss and we haven't stopped since. Engagement, marriage, honeymoon, crazy pregnancy, early delivery, caring for TWINS, buying a house, and getting a minivan. We JUST unpacked our last box from moving two days ago, and still have organizing and decorating left. I am finally feeling more settled and I am wondering what is next.
Well, we do want more kids!

Marayla is our little snuggle bug - Mommy Marayla has been sick for the past week so she has been sleeping in our bed a lot. Last week Ryan was away on a business trip and Marayla got a "missing Daddy" cold. She couldn't breathe well so she was waking up crying a lot and needed a lot of TLC. She slept with me most of the time and although I was TOTALLY stressed out, it was special to wake up and look at her pretty face in the quiet moments of the morning.
Marayla is such a sweet, gentle baby. She exudes a very different vibe then Julia and I tend to handle her with more gentleness. She loves to give huge smiles and hugs, which is grabbing my hair and squeezing it tight around my head! Marayla is a great sleeper and if she misses some of her naps she is beside herself. She cries like she is in pain, it is the saddest sound and breaks my heart.
Marayla is a master at eating Cheerios (I need the registered trademark symbol here). She does not go as crazy as Julia when I shake the box, but she certainly knows how to get them to her mouth. When we lift them from their high chairs, Julia has them everywhere and Marayla only has a few. She is a very good eater in general, she loves her solids and makes an mmm mmm mmm sound if I don't feed her quick enough, I think she gets many more spoonfulls then her two pound heavier sis because she swallows so quick and wants more. Go figure that she's lighter.
Marayla is so different than Julia, I mostly just think of them as my daughters, and not twins.
