My pregnancy classes are:
- an antenatal class, where we learn about childbirth;
- a baby care class, where we learn about taking care of a new baby; and
- a breastfeeding class.
|
|
| |
In the classes, I've learned how to:
Antenatal - We've learned all about the physiology of birth and how the body gets ready up to birth. We've watched a video of three births, learnt about natural remedies for getting through pain as well as drugs and interventions that can occur in labour.
Baby care - how to bath, change, dress, wrap, settle and make our home safe for a baby. The demonstration of bathing was even done with a real newborn baby!

some clothes, cot duvet, books for Mummy and baby, a musical mobile for the cot, most of the practical things we need (nappies, lotions, massage oil, cotton balls, the list is endless!), some toys, bookcase, drawers with a change table on top, borrowed a cradle, a baby carry sling and a baby capsule (hiring).
|
|
| |
What other people have bought for you:
pregnancy and baby journals, a lot of clothes, pram, wraps, blankets, baby shoes, safety gear and some other practical baby things (thermometer, etc), nappy bag, books for baby, some toys, money from a couple of people and a money box.

At my prenatal visit, I learned:
everything is still good and Lucy is facing my left hand side, head down, almost in the perfect position.
|
|
| |
My hopes:
that the placenta moves far enough out of the way for a normal delivery and that Lucy's birth goes smoothly.
|
|
| |
My fears:
that I'm not going to be ready for a new baby when she arrives.
