32 Week Update

Yesterday was my 32 week appointment (I’m measuring at 32 weeks, but I’m not technically 32 weeks until Monday). Everything went well and normal at the appointment. I’ve gained 20 pounds so far (yeah!) and apparently my blood pressure is extremely good for a pregnant person. Sierra’s heart beat was still beating at 140 and the Dr got to see her doing a little dance in my belly. Even he said “WHAT was that??”

I’m still just dealing with back pain, heartburn, foot pain, and occasional vomiting, but other than that things are going well. Sierra is moving like a crazy kid. Sometimes at night after I fall asleep Jeremy just feels her moving for a long time and is amazed that I’m sleeping through it. He likes getting to have his own special bonding time with her. It’s cute.

Last weekend we took our first bout of baby classes. Breastfeeding Basics, and Caring for A Newborn. Both were very informative and not nearly as boring as I’d expected. Next week we’re going to the mothership of baby classes “Preparing for Birth” where we get to watch the gross 1970’s videos of the lady giving birth and all that good stuff.

Until next time………

28 Week Update

What’s New:

Can you believe it, the third trimester is here already!?!? I have to say that the first trimester was never-ending, the second went pretty fast, and from what I hear the third will just fly by. Kind of overwhelming and scary. Can’t believe we’ll be parents in less than 3 months (81 days…eek). My 28 week doctor appointment was good. I’m still measuring correctly, the heartbeat is good at 148 BPM, and I passed my gestational diabetes screening! Thus far I’ve gained a total of 17 Pounds (must be the nightly desserts and morning chocolate milkJ). I’m hoping to stay under the 30 pound mark and apparently most women gain about another 11 in their Thrid Trimester, so I’m right on track (and trust me, I’m eating plenty)

Sierra is moving around like crazy, sometimes to the point it startles me. Jeremy has been reading to her pretty diligently. We think her favorite is a book called “My Little Dinosaur,” but she also likes Dr Seuss “Marvin K Mooney” and some kiddie Bible stories. Her bedroom is basically ready now. I enjoy going in there and looking at all her cute stuffJ.

Mom’s Physical Update:

The morning sickness has gotten much better. I’m only throwing up on the occasional morning when I’m just beyond hungry. My newest ailments are as follows:

Foot and back pain: If I’m on my feet for more than an hour my feet just start to kill me and then my lower back feels like death too. I hate it because I like to always be doing something, but having all these “bodily restrictions” makes it difficult.

Heartburn from hell: Let’s just say I’m living on TUMS and they do no good. Sleeping 4 pillows high helps alleviate it, but then my back is in pain the next day.

Leg cramps during the night: My calves and even my butt have been having the occasional cramping up at night. It’s such a terrible feeling to wake up to. I’m trying to remember to stretch before I go to bed, but I don’t always remember.

24 Week Update

We just returned from California a few days ago. We had a wonderful visit and a great baby shower!! Everyone’s generosity truly amazes us (and yes, we were able to fit every gift in the extra luggage we brought….I couldn’t believe it). Thank you all so much!

Sierra was glad to get home. She didn’t kick much the whole trip and I was somewhat concerned, but as soon as we were on our way back to the Twin Cities she started kicking away and hasn’t stopped much since. She’s already like me in that she likes to be home and on her routineJ.

Yesterday was our 24 week appointment. Sierra’s heartbeat was normal and I’m still measuring “right on.” Not a whole lot more goes on at these appointments really. Next appointment (28 weeks) I’ll have to drink this sugary potion for a Glucose test which rules out Gestational Diabetes. Please pray that I pass with flying colors.

I’ve been working on decorating/organizing her room which is fun, but tiring. It’s pretty fun having a dresser and closet full of new clothes even if they’re not your ownJ. OH, I did have an exciting find yesterday at “Once Upon a Child” (secondhand baby store). I walked in and saw the mobile that goes exactly with her bedding set (chenille with pink toile)! I had ruled out getting it because it’s 35 bucks on ebay, but they were selling it for $15 so of course I had to get it! It looks very cute and I’m sure she’ll love it.

That’s about it. Hope everyone is doing well!
