Today's Ultrasound

We had our 5th ultrasound today to check Nathans size and recheck dates because of the gestational diabetes.. He's right on at 33 weeks. He weighs 5 lbs and some ounces, I can't remember anything but the 5 pounds.  Everything looked good still. And she confirmed he's boy. She said she is 100% sure and we have the picture to prove it!  He moved quite alot during the ultrasound and kicked several times at the thing they use to see with. So cute!

So I'm relieved that he isn't measuring bigger than he should be.

I have my first childbirth class tonight. I'm looking forward to it. I know some people say you don't learn much, but I don't know much about it. I wonder if I'm going to be the only one with my mom as my coach. HHmmm.

Well, I'm off to plan dinner that way I can get my blood sugars checked before class tonight. TTFN!

Diabetes Update & Etc . . . .

Well, I had my weekly meeting yesterday with someone from the diabetes team that is working with me. They put on insulin shots becuase even though numbers are coming down, they aren;t where they need to be. I have to give myself a shot once daily in the tummy for now. She started me out at a low dose to see how I respond. They may increase as I get further along because I'll need more as the next few weeks go by. It's not as bad as I thought it would be, as a matter of fact, it doesn't hurt to have the shot in the tummy at all. The needle is super fine, so there is no bruising. And the insulin is long lasting so the one shot will work all day. So that the latest there.

At my OB appointment, my doctor informed me that after my next visit in two weeks, I'll start non stress test (NST) weekly to see how Nathan is doing. He's also sending me for another ultrasound to check how big Nathan is (weight, head, tummy) since with the GD he can become big. He said I won't go past my due date which the doctor shows as Oct 1st, but the last ultrasound says Sept 27th. So either way we look at it he'll be here in 7 weeks.

Thats all the news for now, my ultrasound is on Thursday, I'll update more then. TTFN

So Cute . . . . .

A couple night's ago I was laying on the couch watching Nathan move the belly, with some prodding of course. He hates when I put the tv remote on my tummy, he tries to kick it off. Anyway, I was watching the belly moving and giggling like I normally do and Darren comes and sits down by me and put's his hand on my tummy. Nathan, being the stubborn little boy that he is stopped moving around. Always does when Darren tries to feel his movements. Darren put his hand in different places to try to get him to move but to no avail. So I took his hand and pressed in where Nathan usually kicks, remember, he hates the pressure of the remote so I knew he would hate the pressure of Darren's hand. And he kicked. And just a second later moved a great big movement. That was the first time Darren got to feel him move. His face was priceless! He face lit up and he said 'wow, that was big move' with a huge grin on his face. Made my day to see the excitement in Darren's face.

In the begining of the pregnancy, I wasn't sure how Darren felt about it because even though we had been sorta of trying, I'm not sure either one of really expected to actually get pregnant. He didn't really say or seem to feel much when I told him we were pregnant. Of course, he was doing what any good husband and future father-to-be would do . . . . Worry about finances and how to take care of a baby.

He is now more excited about it and helps me pick out baby clothes when we go to the thrift shops (our favorite thing to do together) and was even the first to want to buy some little onsies for Nathan. He likes to put his hand on my belly, even if Nathan isn't kicking, and doesn't let me do anything that could harm myself or Nathan. Not to long ago he even starting calling Nathan 'my son' (in reference to me being hungry, 'you need to feed my son'). Anyway, it makes me feel good that Darren is forming a connection to Nathan.

I have an appointment with the diabetes team tomorrow (Monday) and then an OB appointment on Tuesday. So my first couple days this week will be busy with that. So I may update again depending on what happens at those 2 appointments.

TTFN!

Let's Try This Again!

So for the 3rd time this week I have tried to update here at the jourmal and everytime this week I have managed to make a wrong key stoke or something and end up with nothing. So here we go again, for the third time.

I had a follow up meeting on Monday with one of the people who are helping with the diabeted control. She loved my record keeping and praised me that I was follwing the meal plan so closely. She was concerned that I dropped one carb from my main meals and called the dietician to see if it was ok. I haven't heard anything so I imagine cutting out 100 calories in bread isn't going to hurt me. She wasn't concerned that it was a carb but the calories. As of monday my levels were still over where they needed be but coming down. So she was glad to see that. As of today levels keep going down. Yesterday all my level except lunch were below 130, which is awesome! Now if I can just get the after lunch levels down I would be a happy camper!

I lost 3.5 pounds which she felt was a little more than I should've lost, but the dietician had told me last week that I would be ok since I was overweight at the start of the pregnancy any. She called it 'extra fat stores' so as of monday my total gain for the pregnancy is 16 pounds, not to bad. But I did lose 18 pounds before I even knew I was pregnant. But I remember what I weighed before and thats what I'm counting. I wouldn't mind losing a few more pounds but whatever is better for my little Nathan. Oh I am taking some natural liquid herbs to help with the bloos sugar levels and it really is helping alot. So ya for that!!!

I'm not feeling very good today, real blah. I'm not sure what it is, I doubt it's a virus although thats what I thought it was at first, I pretty sure it's just pregnancy hormones making feel dizzy and yucky. Welcome to the 3rd trimester Joely.

Nathan is doing good, his movements are slightly decreased but I think cause he's a growin' boy. He does have his day though where he just is movin' & groovin'.

Well, I guess that all for now. TTFN
