1st Ultrasound....looks like we may be having a.......

We just got in from our ultrasound and all went well!!  We got to see it moving all around, twisting, turning, stretching and putting it's arms over it's head.  It was sooo cute!!  The heartbeat was 163 bpm which the technician said was good.  I asked the technician to let us know if she could tell the sex and she said that most of the time it is too early to tell.  I told her that my sister in law found out at week 12 that her baby was a boy so she looked really good.......and it looks like we are having a little GIRL!!  You could see the three lines as plain as day!  She said she thought it looked like a girl too but not to go out and buy a bunch of pink just yet but after she looked around a few more times she said she was heavily leaning towards a girl and that if she were me she'd be picking out girl nursery themes!!  It is so hard not to buy something pink-LOL!!  I had and still have a strong feeling it really is a girl!  My weight and blood pressure were fine.  I gained about 4 lbs during the first trimester.  Our next appt is April 23 at 4pm, I will  be 16 weeks then.

Our first ultrasound is later on today at 3:45.  I can't believe we are going to get the first glimpse of our child in just a few short hours!!  When I think of the near 10 years that Brad and I have been together, since I was just 15 years old, and of all of the life experiences we have shared, it just overwhelmes me with emotion.  We have so much love for each other that I can't wait to share with our child.  In other words, I think I may lose it and cry hysterically at the ultrasound!  LOL!  We have some family members coming with us too so maybe having them there will help me keep it together.  Really though, I want to do what comes natural to me and if it's to cry, so be it!  Brad's mom, his sister and our oldest nephew Micah are coming.  My mom may get to come too.  She has been having some heart issues and is not able to go back to work until Friday so it all depends on how she is feeling.  I am excited to see Micah's reaction to seeing the baby on the monitor!  He is almost 5 now and is facinated with pregnancy.  I am going to be well-covered but this is going to be a vaginal ultrasound so I hope it does not spark him asking his parents too many questions!  It does not seem like nearly 5 years ago that we watched him come into the world.  Time flies!!  We will get some pictures this afternoon too at the ultrasound and I need to take another belly shot.  I will try to upload them this afternoon.

I am now two days shy of twelve weeks!!  Not long now ans I will be out of the first trimester!  I have had more energy this week and have not been nauseated at all.  As you know I bought my first maternity outfit last week.....well, by Sunday let's just say my tummy was not that big!!  Yep, bloating, etc. again!!  I went to a birthday party Sunday and my coworkers commented on how "skinny" I looked.  We have been thinking more about names and I am not liking Ava for a girl anymore.....it is the #5 most common baby name right now......so....back to square 1....I'm liking older names though.....and want to pass on at least one of my names so either Kathryn or Elizabeth...... I don't like Jackson for a boy anymore either.....so back to square 1 there too!!  Brad is not into passing on one of his names.  Since my Nanny passed Mary to my mom and my mom passed Elizabeth to me, I want to continue their tradition.  Our first ultrasound is this Tuesday and I can't wait!!  I think it will feel more real to us then....I am not really showing yet and since most of the pesky first trimester symptoms have subsided (I am still an emotional basketcase), it will be nice to see the proof that there's a baby in there  : )  I am still so grateful to be pregnant and to have gotten pregnant so quickly!  God has been sooo good to us!!

Had to Go Shopping!

I had to buy my first Maternity outfit today.  My dress pants were so uncomfortable on my tummy this morning!  My manager gave me permission to buy another outfit on the clock while I was out marketing, I was soo grateful and I'm sure baby was too!!  It was such a relief to have room to breathe!!  The outfit is still a bit too big but I know it won't be for long!  The pants were a 2 and the top was XS.  I normally wear a 2-6 in pants, depending on the designer, and a small or medium in tops.  My lower belly is getting so hard!  I can feel my uterus in my lower tummy too, which is freaky/cool!  LOL!  I am feeling better overall this week; I am not AS fatigued or nauseated......On a funny note, I have had some WACKY dreams!!  I dreamed my teeth were cracking and falling out the other night!!  Last night, I dreamed that I was with my coworkers and we were walking through this house and I kept searching and searching for the bathroom because I had to pee so bad!!  Thank God I woke up and made it to my real bathroom in time!!  I have also been dreaming about houses with multiple staircases!!  Who knows??  LOL!
