Baby has arrived!

2006-10-03  (34 weeks)
Graduated from Lamaze

We had our last Lamaze/Child Prep class last night, so we are officially "prepared" for childbirth.... ha ha ha..... We went over c-sections, some more breathing techniques and we watched another birth video. Or should I say Bobby and Sal and the other couple watched the birth video. Me and Kristee did not. I watched it until you saw the baby crowning and then I had to throw up in my mouth and turn away. Kristee didn't even get that far. She said unless they plan on holding a mirror down there while she is delivering, then there is no point in her watching it. The whole point of this video was our instructor wanted us to see how blue and discolored the baby looks when first coming out. Nice... She encouraged all the dads to actually leave our side and go down below and watch as the baby crowns and comes out. No thanks!! I asked Bobby if he is going to do that and he said he didn't know. He might, just depends how it goes. I would not think any less of him if he didn't because I sure as hell wouldn't if I were him.....

I am getting more and more uncomfortable these days and trying to sleep at night sucks. Doesn't help that Bobby snores and snores which causes me to get really pissed off and punch him or kick him until he rolls over onto his side, where he doesn't snore. Brianna has now learned where my ribs are and man that hurts sometimes. Only 39 more days to go, hopefully sooner, that is if I can get everything done soon. Still waiting for the other pieces of furniture to come in, they might be in this weekend and then I can finally finish the nursery. I will post some pics of it when it is complete!!

Great News from High Risk Doc

Yesterday I also had my High Risk Doc appointment and received awesome news.  I was so worried going in there because of the last appointment and the finding in Brianna's kidney.  The u/s showed that there is nothing wrong and the fluid in her kidney has proportioned out to her size.  The doc said that there is absolutely nothing to worry about there. She said a pediatrician would only do an u/s and monitor if the fluid was measuring higher than a .7 or .8 and it was a .5 To say the least I was so relieved!

We also discussed the calcium deposit in her heart valve still being present. She said that too was nothing as her or I or anyone could have one, it means nothing. There is no sign of her having Graves like me at this point so no complications from that for birth. And since we got this clean bill of health, I am done seeing the high risk group!! What a total relief!!!

It was really cute when the tech first looked at her on the screen. She had one hand over her head posing and the other hand was in her mouth. She was sucking on 2 of her fingers the whole time. She was jumping around in there and kicked the u/s thing a couple of times. She weighs right now 4 lbs 12 oz, which is right on target. Perfectly average. And she has LOTS of hair!!  Guess that old wives tale is true, heartburn = hair!!  Her head is facing down, so she is in position for now. Doesn't mean jack though because the doc said she can keep flipping around in there until it is time to vacate. So all in all, a VERY AWESOME appoinment!!!

Prenatal Visit and Nausea is back...

Yesterday I had my first 2-week Prenatal visit. Very happy to report that I have only gained 1 pound since my appointment 2 weeks ago!! WHOO HOO!!! Maybe I am tapering off now. Still measuring on time. My blood pressure was 120/70 and Brianna's heartbeat was 148.

I talked to my doc about the nausea being back again, which totally sucks. I literally threw up 5 times the other day and already once today (and it is only 9 am). He said it is perfectly normal being that she is getting bigger and running out of room in there. Apparently she is kicking my intestines and since she is getting bigger, everything is pushing on me upwards, giving me the nausea. He suggested eating 5 or 6 small meals instead of 3 normal but I don't see that working. My new BFF besides Tums is Ginger Ale. What fun. I didn't think that reverting back to throwing up was possible. Brianna is full term in 3 weeks, so lets hope she comes in 3 weeks 1 day!!! I am so ready to be over with this. The BH contractions are more and more, still not painful though, just uncomfortable. Bobby got to feel her kick a lot last night. She tried kicking his hands off of me pretty hard. Smart girl already

NO EPIDURAL!!!

Last night we had our second Lamaze class, only one more to go.  This one was a lot better than the first. We practiced a lot of different breathing techniques and different ways to deal with contractions. And I got to get 2 massages from Bobby while we were "having contractions".  So that was a first. We watched a birthing video, which of course me and Kristee had to turn away for. I'd rather not see someone else delivering. I'll wait until it's my turn to experience it. We then watched a video on epidurals and the benefits and risks of having one. OK, so before the video I was on the fence about getting one, the whole paralysis thing was freaking me out. But after watching the video last night, I AM DEFINITELY NOT GETTING ONE!!!!! I didn't know that having an epidural meant getting a catheter (is that how you spell it?) through your spine to administer the medicine and leaving it there throughout delivery. And then getting another catheter to go to the bathroom, plus being restricted to your bed, hooked up to all sorts of things.  The instructor informed me that yes, this is how it is done. Well, NO THANK YOU!!! I am very claustophobic and I can't be restricted in any way. I freak out at the little things and I know I will go nuts being restricted like that and having something stuck in me like that without being able to take it out. I was freaking out just watching it done to someone else. Everything started to hurt. So, lesson learned, no epidural. I will however take the demerol, since that is administered differently...... So all in all, it was a very productive and informative class. Only one more to go and we will be officially "prepared" for childbirth (ha ha ha).

Brianna is still kicking up a storm inside of me and she is really getting stronger. Sometimes she actually hurts me kicking so hard. Bobby witnessed my stomach getting kicked out the other night and he about freaked out, "what the hell was that????" I of course just laughed and said "your daughter kicking the hell out of me".  My mom is going over to our house today while I am here at work to paint the nursery. So awesome. We were going to do it this weekend but she wanted to get a head start and maybe finish it today. I was psyched about that  I feel bad though not helping her while she is there. But at least it will look great!!! Thanks Mom, you are the best!!!!!

Heartburn is still a killer and me and Tums are BFF. Tomorrow I have both doc appointments and I am hoping that the high risk doc tells me everything is OK, since he got me really worried last time......
