Baby has arrived!

2007-12-17  (baby has arrived)
20 weeks old.

My little guy is growing up so fast.  Carter can officially roll over now!  Last night he rolled from his tummy to back a few times for Daddy and then this morning when I went to get him out of his crib, he had rolled over and was facing the other direction.  What a big guy!!

We officially started Carter on rice cereal last Thursday night.  He isn't quite sure what to think about it...he eats is pretty good but a lot of it ends up on his face too :)  We have to alternate cereal with the bottle because otherwise he gets frusterated.  Since we started the cereal - Carter is sleeping about 10 hours at night, only waking once to eat :)  yes!  Such an improvement!

I also took Carter off all of his meds.  Even his reflux medication.  And he is such a happier baby now - he was having pains and throwing fits - we went to the dr. several times - for his ears and then on Monday his eye was swollen shut and he got a rash on his face, so I had it - took him off all medication and he is doing wonderful now.

Carter's first Christmas is fast approaching!  I'm excited...it will be so much fun to have both boys this year :)  Our family is now complete!

19 weeks old

Carter has been so sick lately.  He has been to the doctor 3 times in the past week.  Oofta.  We're tired over here!

Carter had an ear infection so they prescribed amoxicillin, 5 days later it wasn't working so I brought him back in - he had a 103.5 temp for 3 days.  They prescribed Cefzil for him and sent us on our way.  By Friday (2 days later) he had developed a rash all over his body and by the end of the day it was much worse.  So I brought him to the ER and we found out he is allergic.

So then it was Benadryl for him to get rid of the rash!

Him and his brother spent the night at Grandma's on Saturday and had lots of fun - he is feeling much better.  His skin looks perfect as of today and now we are just hoping that everything stays this way!

It's tough having a baby that is always in pain or sick.  You seem to run out of options and get to the point of not knowing what to do.

Carter is already into size 6 months clothing and I am sure before we know it he will be outgrowing that as well.  He is still in size 2 diapers and eating 6 oz every 3-4 hours.  However, he can last about 5-7 hours at night :)

Tomorrow big brother Cameron has his surgery for his ears (tubes) and his adenoids removed.  Pray for him!

18 weeks old!!

Carter is amazing.  He is such a doll I just love him to pieces!  I know, I know, all of you are thinking - ENOUGH ALREADY!

So something was wrong with Carter last week, every time he drank his bottle he would cry.  He was hungry and he wanted it, but something was hurting him.  I let it go for a few days, thinking it would pass, but by Friday when it was still happening I brought him in to the doctor because I didn't want to go all weekend with no answers.

The dr. looked in his throat for sores, but nothing.  She checked his ears which I was convinced were fine because he just had his 4 month check up on Tuesday and they were fine. but no, he had an ear infection!!!  Poor baby!

So he is on amoxicillin, which I personally don't like, it never worked for Cameron but she wanted to try this one first.  So I'm glad to say that he is already showing signs of improvement.  He doesn't cry when I feed him and he seems so much happier.

The boys and I helped me put up our Christmas tree and decorations over the weekend.  We had a great time and it was Carter's very first snowfall ever.  We got about 4-5 inches I think.  It was a nice cozy weekend at home for us, daddy was up north hunting.

4 month check up

Carter did so well when he went in for his 4 month check up.  He got 3 shots!  Boy did he cry.  He screamed his head off, but who wouldn't?

He weighs 15 pounds 9 ounces!  Can you believe that?  I couldn't.  I was baffled, I thought maybe he was up to 13 pounds.  What a big guy!  He is 25 inches long.  He is 68% for both height and weight.  He's growing like a weed.

We discussed Carter's eczema and it is pretty severe.  She recommended hydrocortizone 1% for the really bad areas for 5-7 days and then to put Aquafore over his whole body to seal the moisture in.  She said if it isn't better in a week that she will prescribe him a steriod cream.  She advised me that Carter should not start any solid foods for 2 more months!  Eczema can be irritated or worsen with different foods so until we get this under control she doesn't want him exposed to any thing different.  He is a sensitive boy!

It seems to be better after only 2 days - so that is good!

His eyes, ears and everything else look great.  Even the shape of his head looks a lot better than it did at his 2 month check up.  (I've been doing a good job at rotating him!)

He's doing great and he is going to continue his reflux medicine as his spitting up is getting worse again so he isn't ready to get off of it yet.
