Baby has arrived!

First Bad Fall...

So last Thursday Carter, Cam and myself were outside after work.  I was grilling and cleaning corn on the cob.  Carter was in his stroller and Cam was playing with various toys in the driveway/yard.

Cam wanted my help with his 4wheeler so I walked over to help him and heard CRACK.  I looked up and saw Carter laying face down on the tar driveway.  I ran as fast as I could to pick him up - he was gasping for air and then SCREAM!!!!!!!!!!  I was scared out of my mind.

I could see that he scraped his face/forhead up pretty bad instantly.  I was craddling him saying "Oh my god, oh my god" then "it's ok it's ok" bouncing up and down like a madwoman.

I knew Erik woudl be home very soon so I called my mom.  I told her what happened and she told me to check his pupils, and asked if he was bleeding...she didn't know if I should bring him in but told me to call the nurse hotline.

Erik pulled in the driveway and he immediately knew something was wrong - I was bawling my eyes out and shaking uncontrollably.  I told him what happened and Carter started to act funny by now.  He was very tired and starting to fall asleep (and it was not nap time!) so no questions asked, I brought him to the ER.

I walked in and they didnt' ask me any questions, they saw him sleeping in his car seat and brought me straight back to a room.  They were very speedy and took it very seriously so that was nice.  A change from my normal experiences with Fairview.

It turns out that everything is fine.  Carter was ok and we were told to use a cold compress for the swelling and to use tylenol or motrin for the pain.  We had a sheet of things to look for regarding closed head injuries.  We also had to wake him up every 2 hours to make sure he was ok.

Needless to say, Thursday was a rough night.  Mom will never forget to buckle him in from here on out!!  I felt like the worst mom ever - thank god he is ok.

Never a dull moment!

Our little bugger is growing so fast. He is into everything now.  He can crawl all around the house and follows his mama through every room in the house if she isn't holding him.

He has been crying a lot more than normal these past few weeks.  Up at night and not very controllable with the crying.  He did get a top tooth a few weeks ago and I think the other is about to pop through so that could be why.

Other than that, he still loves his brother! He wants to do whatever Cameron is doing - already!  He is so cute.  He can sit himself up in his crib, and in the bathtub, or anywhere.  Soon he will be pulling himself up on furniture!

He eats fruits, veggies and dinners now.  However, he is a very picky eater.  He does like all fruits but only likes a few veggies and a few dinners.  It's really hit or miss.

We took the boys to the MOA with their cousins the other day.  Carter did SO good with all of the activity going on around him.  I was nervous for him to miss his nap but he did great.

That's about all for now.  I will update after his 9 month well child visit!

Crawling!

My little boy can crawl already.  It amazes me!  I do not like to compare, but since his brother Cam didnt' crawl until he was 11 months (haha) I wasn't quite expecting Carter to start crawling SO SOON!

He does the "army crawl" and pulls himself around using his arms.  He gets across the room fairly quick!

Carter also likes real food.  At dinner time he wants to eat off mommy and daddy's plates and he actually gets very upset if you do not share with him.  We've tried mashed potatos and they are his new favorite!  He also likes chocolate chip cookies (DAD!) and bananas.

He weighs in at 18 pounds!  He is wearing size 9-12 month clothes already.  Although he is small to us - he seems very big for his age.

We had his dermatologist appointment today.  Very informational and we got some samples of new lotions/creams to try and some hypoallergetic sunscreen.  He did tell us that he may not outgrow this as soon as we think he will...I hope the dr. is wrong there!!

Cameron and Carter are the best of friends.  If Carter is not with us - Cameron will ask "baby?" and put his hands in the air as if he is wondering where he went...and when they are together Carter smiles and reaches for cameron and when he gets a hold, he will not let go.  He tackles him with kisses...Cam also shares all of his favorite toys with Carter.  It's so fun to watch them finally interact.  And no jealousy issues YET!  :)

7 months

Carter was back at the dr. again yesterday.  I was concerned with his diaper rash or "so I thought"...come to find out, he has a yeast infection.  Wow, I guess I never knew boys could get them.  The dr. informed me that people with severe eczema get these more frequently than people who do not have eczema.  Interesting.  He also informed me that the corn starch baby powder can make it worse, as it "feeds" the yeast and the bacteria grows...

all sounds gross to me!  So we got some medicine and hopefully he will be back to normal in no time.

He is doing much better these days.  He is such a happy boy and we have more of a routine going.  He is very hyper-active...just like his dad.  If he is awake, he has to be going a million miles per minute...bouncing, or have you carry him around.  However, I can get him to cuddle with me :)

Carter is not sleeping through the night - YET.  I have come to terms with it.  No more fighting it, I just think he is a crier...not a sleeper.

That's about all that is new.  Oh wait, we tried pears yesterday - ALLERGIC REACTION!  He got a rash/hives all over his body approximately an hour after he ate them...or at least that is when I noticed.  So no more pears for him!

I've added his 6 month pics!
