Almost 2 and 1/2 weeks old Well, Jacob is 2 weeks and 3 days old today. We're doing much better than the last time I updated my journal. Jacob's still not sleeping that great at night, but Michael and I are taking turns staying up with him at night. It's nice because even though I know I'm probably not getting any sleep tonight, I know I get a full nights sleep tomorrow night. It keeps me going.
Jacob doesn't seem to have changed that much to me. His little face seems to have stretched out a bit, but other than that, I think he looks the same. Michael thinks he's grown quite a bit, but I don't see it.
So far, he doesn't have any good "tricks" to report. (who does at 2 and 1/2 weeks old, right?) He does, however, have a super strong neck for such a little guy. He lifts his head up all the time and can hold it up for a little while. It's pretty surprising for such a little guy. He also seems to smile every now and then, but all the books say it's not "real" smiles yet ~ basically, he doesn't know "why" he's smiling, it's more like a reflex right now, but it's still really stinkin' cute!
We've tried his swing and his bouncy seat and neither seems to impress him that much yet. The bouncy seat got far less of a reaction than the swing. In the swing, he at least seemed to be looking around a little like he was trying to figure out what was going on. I can't wait until he's more alert and aware of what's going on around him and he can start interacting with us a little. On the other hand, I don't want to rush it because I know he's going to grow up WAY faster than I want him to anyway, so I am trying to enjoy every minute for now.
I guess that's the update for now. I should have some new pics in a couple weeks. (And maybe some new "tricks" to report) |
