Baby has arrived!

What a disappointment!

Well ~ I woke up this morning all excited because I FINALLY got to go to my very first pre-natal appointment.  I've been counting down the days!

I get to the doctor's office and fill out a TON of paperwork.  The nurse takes me back and does another pregnancy test (yep, still pregnant) and then we wait for the doctor.

The doctor comes in and right away I really liked her.  I was sure we were going to click and I was really gonna enjoy having her as our doctor.  But then she informed us that she only delivers at one particular hospital here in town and it happens to be the one hospital that my insurance doesn't contract with.  So, I could either stay with her and deliver at that hospital and have a MUCH higher out of pocket expense for the hospital charges, or I could switch doctors to one who delivers at a hospital I can go to.

So, we decided to switch doctors.  She gave us the names of a few and I called one of them and made an appointment for August 16th.  Thankfully that's not TOO far off.  I'm hoping that maybe by that time they'll be able to let me hear the baby's heart beat.

So anyway ... no exciting news today ... just more waiting.  Mom made a good point though ... we already know the IMPORTANT part ... I'm pregnant!

Telling MY family

I finally got to go visit my family and deliver the news!  It was AWESOME!  My family was all really excited.  Probably the best reactions came from my mom and my neice.  My mom completely flipped out just like I knew she would.  She hugged me probably four times and just kept yelling "OH KIMMIE".  It was awesome.  She was really shocked.  She said she had really just decided that it just wasn't going to happen for me, so this was really a surprise.  My neice was jumping up and down yelling "Kimmie's gonna have a baby" ... she was so cute.  Then she was touching my tummy wanting to know if she could feel it move yet.

My mom gave me all kinds of great reading material about pregnancy and babies.  I'm slowly getting through all of it, but it's really good information.  I also already got a car seat for the baby!  How fun!  It looks so cute in the back of my vehicle.

This Thursday is my very first doctor's appointment.  I'm really anxious about it.  I don't know this doctor at all, so I hope I like her.  I'd hate to have to switch to another one.  I'm hoping to be able to hear the baby's heart beat.  I don't know if I'll be far enough along for that yet or not.  We'll see.  I'm also hoping that she schedules me for an ultrasound really soon.  I can't wait to get to see that little baby in there!  Michael is going with me to all of my doctor's appointments.  I think that will be really good.  He seems excited too.

Well I guess that's it for today.  Probably my next update will be Thursday when I actually go to the doctor!!!

Delivering the News!

What a fun weekend it was!  We came home from San Antonio on Sunday and my husband's mom had a dinner to welcome us home.  It was the perfect opportunity to tell his family about our new little addition to the family.  His mom must have said "thank you Jesus" at least 10 times that night.  She was so cute and SO excited about the baby.

She called to check on me last night to see how I am feeling and to tell me that if I need anything I should let her know.  It's really cute how excited she is about the baby.

I'm going to visit my mom this weekend and will get to deliver the news to her on Friday evening.  I CAN'T WAIT!!  It's been KILLING me not to tell her already, but I really, really want to be able to SEE her reaction and I just think it will be more fun telling her in person.  She's gonna be really psyched about it!

I found these fun facts about our baby on the internet:

Fun Birthday Facts

  • Your baby's birthstone will be Aquamarine (Courage)
  • Your baby's Astrological Sign will be Pisces
  • Your baby's Flower will be Daffodil or Jonquil (White or Light Blue)
  • Your baby will be born in the Chinese Year of The Pig
  • This time next year your baby will be 19 Weeks Old!
  • Your baby will start kindergarten in 2012, be old enough to drive a car in 2023, finish high school in 2025, and will graduate from college with the class of 2029, give or take a year. Can you imagine?

Back to Albuquerque!

Today is my last day working in San Antonio for this trip!!  YIPPEE!!    I am so excited to finally get home to Albuquerque so that I can tell all my family and friends about our little baby.  We'll be driving home Saturday and Sunday, so when we arrive on Sunday, we will tell my husband's family.  They are going to FLIP OUT and be sooooo excited.  I feel kinda bad that I'm telling them before I tell my mom, but unfortunately, I don't get to go see my mom until next weekend and I definately want to tell her in person.  I can't wait to see her reaction.  She's gonna be WAY excited too.

We are starting to consider a few names.  So far we like "Jacob" for a boy and for a girl we like "Brianna" or "Evangeline".  I'm sure we'll think of others and it will be some time before we really decide on one.

The next journal entry I get to be will be about the reactions of family and friends to our news!  I CAN'T WAIT!
