First Ultrasound!

On Thursday, August 17th we had our first ultrasound!  It was AMAZING!!

I was telling Michael how when I look at other people's ultrasound pictures, I can't really figure out what I'm looking at ~ it just looks like a big blob.  But looking at our little baby on that screen, I could tell exactly every little thing the technician was pointing out!  Our baby is just already adorable and I'm so in love already!

The baby was moving quite a bit, so that was fun to see.  The best thing we saw was the baby's little heart beating!  It was so strong ~ 170 beats per minute!  It is such a reassuring thing to see your little baby's heart beating.  The technician turned the ultrasound to color for a minute and you could see in blue and red where the blood was flowing in the baby.  It was amazing!

We got to see little hands and feet and all the little features of the face.  I didn't want to leave the doctor's office.  I just wanted to lay there all day looking at our baby.

The tech said the baby is one and a half inches long.  She's estimating that I was already 10 weeks and 4 days ~ A little further than we thought I was.  So she estimates my due date as March 11th.  I guess we'll see!

As soon as I get the ultrasound pictures scanned, I'll get them added to the photo album.  But for now, I guess that's it.

First Dr. Appointment

Today was my first doctor's appointment, finally!    It went really well.  I liked the doctor and she spent almost two hours with us.  She talked to us about nutrition alot.  Since I'm already over weight and there's a family history of diabetes, she wants to try to keep my weight under control.  She's sending me to to a nutrition counselor.  I'm looking forward to that.  She sent me for lab work and they took TWELVE viles of blood!  I couldn't believe it!  Apparently she's testing me for every possible disease known to man!  LOL

Today I have my first ultrasound!!!  I'm so excited!  I can't wait to see that little baby's heart beating.  It's going to be so awesome!  I hope the print pictures for me to keep.

Well, I guess that's it for today.

Yucky meat!

Well, I'm not really having any cravings yet, but I'm definitely having some food aversions.  MEAT!  Yuck!  I'm having a really hard time eating meat.  It smells disgusting and therefore I can't really bring myself to put it in my mouth.

Mike is pretty sure that this is an indication that the baby is a girl.  He says that boys love meat and potatoes.  I think this is an indication that the baby is a boy ... because it's so PICKY!

My next "first" doctor's appointment is coming up soon (Wednesday)!  I can't wait!  I was really hopeful that they would do an ultrasound at that appointment, but now I don't think they will.    I called the doctor's office and told them that I was trying to plan my expenses with my insurance and I was wondering if they did an ultrasound, would it be done in the doctor's office or elsewhere.  They said that they do have an ultrasound machine in their office but that the doctor doesn't do the ultrasounds.  They do their ultrasounds after hours (after 4:00) on Tuesdays and Thursdays and a tech comes in to do them.  I hope they schedule me for one soon!  I'm dying to see this little cutie!

Mike's mom is convinced that the baby is a boy.  Everytime she talks to me she asks me "how is HE doing"?  LOL  I think she's really wishing for Mikey to have a boy.  We'll see.

Mommy's coming this weekend and we're going to go look at baby furniture!! YIPPEE!!  I think I already know what I want, but I'm excited to take mom and see what she thinks of it.  It will be time to start painting the rooms soon.  We're moving Nicole into the the guest room as her new room and the baby will get her room.  Both rooms will need painted .... FUN, FUN, FUN!

Well, I guess that's it for today.  I gotta go see if I can figure out something that sounds decent to eat for breakfast.

I feel good!

I am feeling super duper good today!  I think I finally figured out the trick ... I'm eating little snack type things every 2-3 hours and that really seems to help.  I've been snacking on veggies and watermelon in between meals and that keeps my tummy pretty happy!

I had dinner last night with LaRee and she gave me some cute little baby gifts.  We got a little teddy bear for the baby, a journal / photo album and a cute little sign that says "shh ... nap time" ... LaRee says the nap time sign is for ME, not the baby!  She's funny!  We gave her a t-shirt and ball cap that said "God-Grandmother in Waiting" and she was just so thrilled!  We thought she might not appreciate us calling her a "grandma", but she was just so pleased that we thought of her that way.

Nothing else new to report ... counting down the days until my next (first) doctor appointment (Aug. 16th).
