oh dee, that sucks! Why is he just now telling you? Aw man, I hope you have the baby when he's there! I pray you don't have to go with someone you don't trust. But even if you do, I pray it's a good experience with no episiotomy or anything else you don't want!
sadie
okay D, I'm praying for a baby for you between now and Sunday!! Com'n Dyck baby!! show yourself!!

I only had "my" Dr. for one baby, and it all works out in the end no matter who you have! I totally understand wanting the person you've been through the process with, though. Dr. Reedyk is very good, you should request him. And, there's always castor oil! Worked like a charm with Laec (-:

Hey Dee, Dr. Dan left the week before I was due for a week too, (no time is ever a good time, he told me he had 70 babies to deliver in 6 months, so there will always be somebody that it's a due date for, just sorry it is yours) anyway, the point being that I asked for Dr. Reedyk. I have heard tons of good stuff about him, like him being the best baby doctor (don't get me wrong I loved Dr. Dan too) but Reedyk doesn't do deliveries unless asked for reasons like your doc being gone. Dr. Dan talked to him and he said that he would deliver if necessary in Dr. Dan's absence for me, and I really think that he would respect your birth plan and everything if you had him. Anyway, just a thought, you may already be referred to another doc but I am sure you could still ask.  Anyway, hope it works out well for you, we will be praying for you guys, can't wait to hear the good news.

I agree with Sadie... your son is going to come on exactly the right day. His times (and yours) are in God's hands, and He knows the exact times He has set for this kiddo. Although I will still say... I can't believe that your doctor only just now mentioned that to you! And that he is actually leaving for a whole week right after your due date! I think first babies average arriving 7-10 days after the due date if allowed to wait that long, though, if I remember correctly... so maybe you will have him after your doctor returns? Do you think it would be possible for you to sneak in an appointment with your doctor and whoever the sub doctor would be before your doctor takes off... so you could all talk over stuff together, like your birth plan and such? Just an idea. You've done so well through this whole pregnancy thing, Dee, I am sure you are going to do just great WHENEVER it is time for your wee son to come out.

you're going to do fantastic at labor!! and you have a great coach and a great birth plan, You ARE tough!! And God has the perfect day planned out for this little guy to be born on, you will see!! I really hated it when my midwife would describe my cervix as "ripe" like it was a banana or something.

Cervix still firm? Bummer! That's okay though. Like Lola said, losing your plug is a prelabor sign- yay! (I feel like I"ve been having prelabor signs for 2 weeks, but oh well). Other women have told me in the past to expect to be late so that just in case you are, you don't go crazy waiting. Just keep up your 'natural induction methods' ;) and keep active. DId you hate the cervix/dialation check as much as I did?
