Baby has arrived!

2008-05-07  (25 weeks)
Hello Morgan!!
Morgan Marie Pratt....doesn't that sound good?  It is crazy that it took us this long to decide, especially since Morgan was the first name we discussed, but we finally did it!  MMP....mommy's little mmp.  I am very happy with it, and I can't wait to hold you, and hug you, and feed you, and call you Morgan to your face.  And, I am very happy that we finally decided; I have been dying to have a name for you for several months now!

And, we finished your sisters new room and she took to it right away.  She has been sleeping in it for two whole weeks now!  So, it is time to start getting your room all ready.  The recital is next weekend, so I think I will wait until that is all over with.  I am definitely looking forward to having time off from dance to get everything ready.  There is still LOTS to do.  And, I think that I am going to have to do a little shopping.  Because while I think that you will be able to wear many of the clothes that your sister wore, you will need some things of your own too.  I have already gotten you two Little Sister onesies...you are going to be so cute!!!  I wonder if you will have lots of hair?  And, will it be red like Addison's was, or blonde, or dark brown?  I can't wait to find out!!!  I also need to call the hospital about the childbirth education classes.  I know that it wasn't that long ago, but it is always nice to be reminded of exactly how it all works.  AHHHHH...I can't wait!

Well, that is all for now.  I go back to Dr. Shattuck in two weeks.  I am definitely looking forward to that time.  I plan to take it a little easy this summer.  I am going to walk in the Fitness Center after work to stay in shape, and I will probably have ensemble class, but that is all.  The rest is reserved for rest, relaxation, and getting ready for you!!

It's Dr. Shattuck Day!!!
So, we have an appointment with Dr. Shattuck today, and that makes me happy!  I love getting to see you on the ultrasound.  Moving around, opening and closing your mouth, kicking those long skinny legs.  And, it is always neat to see how much you have grown and changed in just a month.   I can't believe that there are only 4 more until you arrive!

However, today's appointment does have a down side.  Today is the "drink the yucky drink" appointment.  Dr. Shattuck is going to test my blood and make sure that there is not too much sugar in it.  So, you have to drink this GROSS glucola drink, and then they take your blood an hour later.  If you fail this mini screening, then you have to come back for a 3 hour test.  When I was pregnant with your sister I failed the first test.  So I had to go up to the office on a Friday morning and sit with the nurse for 3 hours.  And, I had to drink the yucky stuff AGAIN!  Fortunately I passed the 3 hour test so there was nothing to worry about.  But, I have been really watching what I eat in hopes that I will pass the mini test today.   I did try to get out of the test by dropping my glucola drink this morning.  It broke and splattered all over my feet....YUCK!  No glass cut me, so that was good.  Then your mean daddy said that I needed to call Dr. Shattuck and get another bottle so that I could still have the test at today's appointment.  If he was the one to drink that gross stuff, he would not have been so quick with that suggestion!  See the things a mother will do for her child! :)

We are going to start the LONG process of getting your room ready this weekend.  We are going to turn the guest room into Addison's new room.  It is going to take a lot of work, but your daddy and I are both taking Monday off, so hopefully we can get it all done.  Then we have to start slowly moving her, and making her understand that she has a new room.  Once she is all settled, it is time to kick your preparation into HIGH gear.  We have to get the crib back to the right height, get all your clothes out and put away, get some little diapers, get all the bottle stuff out, get my pump out, get the baby cabinet organized, and get out the newborn toys.  Lots to do!!!  But, I am looking forward to having the summer off from dance.  That will give me time to get everything ready.  And, I am sure that I will have your Memmie up here to help!

So, that is what is going on now.  I am VERY excited, and I will be sure to let you know what I learn after our appointment today!!!

What's in a name?
Hello pretty baby!!!  I can't wait to have a name for you.  Your daddy and I continue to disagree, and I am ready to be done with it.  I want to call you by name.

My current favorite is Dylan.  I think that you are going to be my little athlete, since you have those long skinny legs and those super powerful kicks, so I feel that you must have a name that sounds good when yelled out by your teammates.   Go Dylan!!  Nice hit Dylan...don't you think that soiunds good?  You're feisty...I can already tell.  With you and your sister, we are definitely going to have our hands full!

Anyhow, back to the name biz.  My original favorite was MJ, short for Morgan and something cute with a J.  I thought about Jolie, and I even suggested it to your dad...Morgan Jolie.  His response...."like the actress?"  Well that just ruined it for me, because I don't really like Angelina Jolie, so I certainly didn't want my child's name to make others think of her.  And then your daddy reminded me that your middle name has to be Marie, so MJ wouldn't really work.  So, I  moved on to Daley.  I thought it was such a cute little name, but of course your picky daddy didn't like it because it was his dad's name with a y on the end.  I personally don't see the problem with that, but your dad has real issues with naming children after someone else.  Why it is ok in a middle name I am not sure......you will have to ask him about that.  A little disgruntled and with a slight pout, I began to think some more.  What should I name my sporty little baby?  Then I saw the name Dylan.  I think it was at Addison's school.  And I thought....hmmmm I like that....Dylan Marie Pratt.  I think that I will suggest it to David.  So, I did.  He said it was ok.....OK!  Really, just ok?  I thought it was GREAT!  He said he would put it on his list of names to consider.  Along with the 30 other ones that he has come up with.  Ridiculous names like Logan and Charlotte.  I said, let's just call her Agnes and dress her like an 85 year-old from birth!  I mean really....what is he trying to do to you?  I am still fighting for Dylan.  He certainly hasn't come up with anything that I like better.  I can't even say that he has suggested one that I would put on my VERY short list of names to consider.  On the way to Plano last weekend, your daddy started picking names of street signs.  I joined in, and we were coming up with some good ones.  All a fun game I thought....until he saw a sign for Campbell road.  Well, he really liked that one.  And I have heard him talk about it all week!  When I mention it to other people, they all respond..."like the soup?"  Don't worry, I won't let your name be the same as a MAJOR soup brand.

So, that is where we stand with your name.  It sure would be nice to know, but I am not that worried.  Even if it doesn't turn out to be Dylan, I know that it will suit you perfectly.  I can't wait to meet you!  I am even excited about my next visit with Dr. Shattuck; I LOVE seeing you on the ultrasound and hearing your little heartbeat.  Well, I am dying to see what your daddy writes about his name choices.  Until then....I love you!

So Excited!
I am so excited to be pregnant!!!  It is interesting how different it is to be pregnant for a second time.  I feel much more confident.  I do not sit up reading every page of every pregnancy book that I have....instead I am in bed with the lights out at the first possible instant!  I think this pregnancy has been much easier on your Daddy too!  Poor guy....with your sister I was an emotional mess.  No real issues with you.  I mean, I still cry at the sight of those Willis Knighton billboards with the babies and the teddy bears on them, but other than that I am doing good. :)  And, now that the first trimester has passed I feel GREAT!  And please understand....the minor queeziness that I felt is NOTHING compared to some poor women.  So I have NO COMPLAINTS!

I am just very happy to be pregnant.  Everytime I see you on the ultrasound, I feel a little closer to you.  I can't wait to know your personality, and to see what you look like.  Will you be like me, or your Daddy, or Addison, or what?  It is sooooo exciting!

And, I am ready to get the house prepared for your arrival.  I am ready to move Addison to her new room.  I am ready to get organized, and get everything all cleaned up.  And I am really ready to decide on a name!  I am ready to call you by name and really start caring specifically for you.  Your Daddy is the picky one when it comes to names.  He wants to look on the internet for some different ideas......we'll see.

Okay....I know this has been short, but I am glad to have this started for you.  It took me a while to get my new password, but everything is set up now.  I will defintely let your Daddy know that he can write to you now.   Love you!
