not hot for sausage!

Last night I had my first full blown pregnancy hormonal tidal wave! Now I've gotten upset, weepy or grouchy before with little things...but this really takes the cake! I was going to make pizza for our dinner. Since we moved into our smaller place (and since we are moving shortly again) we didn't bring everything we had and left the majority in boxes in the storage room. One thing we left in storage...the big pizza pan I always use. Needless to say, this sent me into whirlwind of tears. I couldn't make the "perfect pizza" I'd seen in my mind. Ian grabbed a smaller pan suggesting I just use that one. But I didn't want that one. I wanted to BIG pan that I could spread cornmeal around and have the crust perfect and equal in size. Kneading dough on a new pan would take me time to think of how to get everything to size how I wanted it. Well, I left the room in tears. At least my husband understands what I'm going through and just kneaded the dough himself. He came and got me a few minutes later to tell me it was all done so I could put the toppings on. I hugged him.

So the pizza turned out just fine and yummier than ever (though it was a bit smaller in size...).  After dinner and William in bed, Ian decides he is going to fry up his italian sausages for lunch tomorrow to take to work. OK, fry them up big boy. *side note* < raw meat smell has bothered me ever since I was pregnant with William. it is  a bit better this pregnancy since it is not making me puke, but it doesn't make me feel all warm and gooey either. > After the cooking process started up, I could smell it in the living room a bit. Not bad, but  not good. I tell Ian I'm going to go ahead and take my shower while he finishes us. Once I get out of the shower, I'm hit with a fuzzy, smoky view and a horrible stench. Here comes the gagging! That's always fun! I can't go anywhere that the smell doesn't follow me except the bathroom. I once again am reduced to tears as I barricade myself in the bathroom. Ian's doing all he can by spraying scented spray and opening windows, but it's just too late now. I decide to just turn in for the night...with the covers nearly over my head.

Poor Ian felt SO bad. It was just something we never thought about, but we will remember for next time. Turn on the stove vent and open windows before we start. I'm still a little whoozy today from the memory...yuck. No more sausage for a while please!

your daddy

Hey little one. Just thought  I would share some news of how good your dad is treating me lately. Of course, he always treats me well but he has been on top of his game recently. When we went home for our two week vacation, you dad got up at 6:30 - 7:30 every morning to take take of your big brother while you and me slept in. When my skin is getting dry and itchy all over, out comes the lotion...and he always warms it up first!  The other night I was CRAVING some onion rings (or I guess I should say you were) and dad ran out and got us some to enjoy. Yesterday with the rain coming through town, my knee was acting up...so your dad once again comes to the rescue and walks Downey for me so I don't have to do stairs. He cooks and cleans, tends to your brother and the dog and puts up with all of my weird hormonal craziness too. If you are a girl, I hope you are just as lucky as I am to find such a rare catch. If you are a boy, I hope you use him as a role model and dote over you future wife and children like he does to us.

Tonight I have BBQ chicken going in the crockpot and I'm planning on a feast as a thank you for thinking of us. I'm sure you'll enjoy it too!

ultrasound

We had our first ultrasound on Monday. Everything is going swimmingly so far. I was 10 wks exactly, and baby measures 10 wk 5days so we are growing well. Saw the heartbeat, but couldn't hear it yet. My next doctor's appointment is next Thrusday morning when I'm 11.5 weeks...should be able to hear that sweet sound then if the baby cooperates. Please cooperate! The good news and excitement of the day was a little bittersweet when I heard from one of my closest friends that they couldn't find a heartbeat during her ultrasound. It really did sadden me, but I know she is strong and will get through this with support from family and friends.

My stomach I believe has already popped. Now I know there is only one in there...unless the ultrasound tech didn't do a full circle! I guess I just really enjoyed my Christmas. SO happy it was morning sickness free. So happy this pregnancy has really been morning sickness free! Just a little queasy if I go too long with out eating, but that doesn't happen much. (typing as I'm sticking a 6 inch Subway sub down my mouth) Hey, this might possibly be my last pregnancy...I'm going to enjoy it!

Well, it's harder to type and eat a sub than  I thought it would be...you really do need both hands to do both things. So, that's all for now! Ta ta!

I'm back!

I know...it's been awhile. Just having too much fun in GA! We told everyone while we were down there. I can safely say by the reactions, most are thrilled with another new addition!! I told me parents the night I arrived, I couldn't even wait until morning. I took out the Christmas pictures and let them see. They (will ok, my mom) oohed and awwed over them. Then I pointed out that there was another slip of paper in there they missed. My dad thought it was a bill we were handing him for the portraits (nice dad!). After my read it a couple of times (it takes a minute for her sometimes) the light bulb came on. She started screaming and laughing! She just gushed!!! My dad was happy too, but showed it a bit more calmly. My mom couldn't get over it, and kept remarking on it the whole time we were there!

On Christmas Eve, we went to Ian's grandparents to party it up with that side of the family. After the feast and before the chaos involved in 20+ people opening presents, we decided to give everyone their present from us. We told them we had Christmas portraits with different scenes and they had to open there gift so we could see which one we had already given them and then they could take one of the other if they wished. Unknown to them was a picture of a pregnancy test in the frame. The all unwrapped it, stared a few minutes, and then Ian's grandmother came to the conclusion...we forgot to put the picture in there! We smiled and said, yes...there is a picture. They kept staring... Finally Aunt Jennifer pops up and shouts YOU'RE PREGNANT! Lots of hugs and kisses ensued! And we finally passed out the REAL pictures too.

For my brother and his family we decided to do things a bit more subtle. My SIL has taken three pregnancy tests and would have known the minute she saw something like that. I had brought William's big brother shirt with me for him to wear under his outfits. After Christmas dinner, we all went into the living to get ready for presents. William had his top shirt taken off with his brother shirt on underneath. We just decided to wait and see how long it would take. My parents almost gave it away too, they were acting so goofy, snickering back and forth to each other the whole time! David and Kristen were giving me the "we've got to start looking at homes for them" looks! Once we were all in the living room, I notice David do a double take at William and then look at me. He smiles and nods, but keeps it quiet thinking our parents  haven't guessed yet either. Well, they already knew, we were waiting on Kristen. But as any mother knows...especially a mom of a toddler...you don't have much free time to read the shirts that other kids are wearing! Finally my dad grabs William and holds him up in front of Kristen. You can tell she's surprised, but she finally catches on and reads. Congratulations are spread along with a reminder that I still have some catching up to do with their clan's size.

Overall a wonderful Christmas full of surprises and magical memories. And next Christmas we will have a new little person to make memories with! Yay!

Ultrasound tomorrow afternoon, I'll report back then! Ta ta!
