Hopeful

Hello my little one. It seems your father and I will be enjoying another playful little son after your birth! This morning while I was trying to persuade myself to get out of bed, we played a little game of trading taps! I even called your dad in and he was able to get a game in before you tuckered out. It was very reassuring that you are at least able to stretch out even though you have no fluid to swim in. BUT...that's going to change by tomorrow!!

I am both excited and nervous about your little surgery tomorrow afternoon. It will be a great relief to BOTH of us once your bladder is able to empty on it's own! I can't wait to feel you just moving all over in great sommersaults of free movement! I will have an appointment to check on you on Thrusday with our regular doctor in town too. It's been three weeks since I was there...seems like FOREVER ago.

I will be so happy to have you in my arms (anytime past June preferably!!) and see how perfect you really are! But for now, I am content on singing to you and trading taps with you. I love you little Matthew. Be strong and hold on baby...help is coming!

It's a boy!

Hey there my little man. We have been going MANY days over the past two weeks to make sure you are doing well with your bladder obstruction. On Wednesday, we heard the good news that we are moving forward to put a shunt in so you will have aminotic fluid to swim around in again. I miss feeling you move! Also on Wednesday, we got your karyotype back from the geneticists...you are a boy! You are probably already aware of this, but it is nice to be able to call you son instead of baby all the time. Me and dad are still cooking up a name, but are pretty sure we will be going with Matthew for you. My strong fighting little son.

Monday we will be at Northside of the procedure and you will feel immensely better, while I am feeling quite sore immediately afterward. At least we get the great joy of seeing you so many times through out the pregnancy before you are born. It seems to me that you are much more mellow than your older brother...maybe that is just me HOPING for that. I don't know if I could handle both of you with that much energy! Luckily with us being near family now, everyone has been pitching in to help you and me out around the house and for appointments. Pretty cool to know how loved you are before they even meet you huh?

Well little Matthew, I am off to sing to you a goodnight song and then will be turning in myself. Your brother drained me of energy today! I'll post how our shunt surgery went. Lots of love, hugs and kisses to you from all of us! Remember, you rest and let us handle all of this. YOu will be out of discomfort soon son.

We're here!

We've made it to Georgia little one...you have no idea we even left did you? We are in our new house and already have the changing table and glider that we used for your big brother in your room. Moving has surprisingly been pretty smooth!

We had our first appointment with my new doctor today, and dad was able to come as well. We were surprised with an ultrasound and even more surprised when they recommended we see a specialist for a more in depth ultrasound. It seems someone is already resistant to potty training! You are holding large amounts of urine in your bladder and it has swelled up in size. The doctor assured me that it is treatable...we just have to find out the cause and then plan for treatment.

If you are worrying me at 16 weeks in utero...I'm scared to see what's in store when we hit the terrible twos...are the terrifying teens!!! But we love you baby, and don't worry...we'll take care of everything. You just concentrate on growing strong!

movement?

Last night laying in bed, I swear I could feel movement in my belly. NO not gas...though that was happening too. A swishing movement, like when you run your hand back and forth under the water...I felt the wave motion. It just seems a bit absurd to feel things this early, but they do say 2nd (and 3rd and 4th) feel things quicker since they know what to expect. I remember I didn't feel nothing until my 20 week ultrasound with William! It took an ultrasound tech to show me the baby was moving and then I was like...OH...that's what it feels like! I had been feeling something, but had just chalked it up to belly rumbles! So, maybe I am...maybe it's just wishful thinking....but it's nice just the same!

It seems I have "popped" also. I have always been able to tell I was pregnant since about week 6 when I noticed a pooch that was not there the night before! But now...it's a baby belly! A definite shape to me instead of just a wide bloat! I now look pregnant! Yay! I wait with anxious anticipation for this...to finally look pregnant instead of just fat!

Well, we are moving this weekend...hope I keep my strength and sanity up for the move. Wish us luck!!
