Baby has arrived!

We're Home!

And...you're still inside me! Yay! Dr. Gomez was a miracle worker and found a good spot to get some fluids into you. You are swimming and flipping and kicking now as we speak actually. I look like I just swallowed a watermelon whole with all the fluid they put in me (750cc's). We now will be going to appointments twice weekly so they can make sure I will not go over a weekend and get that low again. More needles, but at least it also buys us more time. You are getting hiccups on a regular basis now I've noticed. You've gotten them every day since we had our steroid therapy this past week. Lung development seems to be going well!

So we are a go for further cooking, which makes mommy very happy. Makes everyone very happy. The whole family has just surrounded both you and me in prayers and they seem to working so far. We are just hoping to get to the end of June now. But we were told it will definitely be a c-section now. I guess with all the stuff I've endured with my belly...I can handle another scar. But you owe me little one...car washing every week when you are a teenager. Enjoy your swim little man, I'll enjoy the movements I'm feeling. So sweet! I still remember on Friday when Dr Gomez got that tube through with all the fluid starting (it comes out on the ultrasound as bubbles) you just started kicking. Like you had been looking forward to it ALL week, which I'm sure you have been.  You even pricked your little feet on the needle and few times and didn't even stop, just pure happiness of movement. You've always been active!! You even amuse the doctors. YOu are just so cute. I can't wait to really see you...in at LEAST a month!

here we go!

Well, your dad and I have always joked about going to our "home away from home" with all of these procedures we do weekly...but had hoped it wouldn't REALLY come true. But it has! We came up here on Tuesday for a standard tap and infusion, but all of my fluid was gone and Dr Nathan couldn't get a pocket to put any fluid in. So, now we are rooming in until you decide (or they decide) it is time for you to show up. We are being monitored twice a day to make sure you are not in stress.

Dr Gomez is going to try another infustion tomorrow and if that takes, we'll be able to go home again for a short time! I'm really missing your brother and your "sister", but I've got to do what's best for you right now.  Even though you are BIG handful you are still so cute. I look forward to seeing your little face tomorrow. I hope we are able to infuse you so you and I will both be comfortable, but we'll see. I'll still love ya anyway....I guess.

I'll post more this weekend either from the high risk unit or from home! Kisses.

little gymnast

Geez! After doing these procedures over and over again, I admit we have started taking things a little lighter than we are probably supposed to. It's dangerous everytime they do something to me or you. Every time we see our doctors, they have to remind us of all the "bad" things that could occur. We just repeat them as they say them since we have heard them so much. We all chuckle and make jokes about me being the human pin cushion.

So during our routine fluid tap on Monday, you decided to add a little "excitement". Dr Gomez had just started on our second syringe withdrawing fluid when Matthew just HAD to flip. Yes....FLIP! A needle is in both him and me and he decides he wants to get a round of tumbling practice in. The doctor gasped, I screamed Matthew NO, and the ultrasound tech frantically searched for the needle point. No one could see it so the doctor had to pull out immediately so as not to puncture any of Matthew's internal organs.

He told me he really wanted to just stop for the day, because it could be too much trauma to go back in...but after looking around with the ultrasound, the leftover pocket of fluid was just too big to ignore. We had to go back in. So, back in with another needle, and back out with three more syringes full of fluid. We both had to go back on the monitor to make sure I wasn't going into preterm labor with you and you were still happy. We both did good and came on home.

But I guess it just goes to show you can't take anything for granted huh? AND...the minute you are walking...I'm enrolling you in a baby gym class!

fluids

Hey baby boy. Just got home this evening. You are completely drained (a little over 110 cc's) and I am completely engorged (600 cc's). And you think you are uncomfortable. HA...imagine that much fluid being pumped into you over a five minute period. Talk about bloated! Ouch! But you did so good. You started to squirm at first, but once I told you to not make me come in there...you settled down once you realized it was a relief from the pressure probably. We have our next appointment with Dr Gomez next Monday to drain you again. I don't think they'll need to add any fluid. Seems they added quite a bit today to me.

Part of your nursery set came today! You got some of your bed sheets, your canvas wall art and you music mobile. And it is so pretty! I know boy things are not supposed to be pretty...but I'm sorry...their pretty! It's called Moo moo baby and it's a farm theme. Grandma was kind enough to get you your nursery set. We are still shopping for cribs though. You make sure you give us time young man and stay put.

Well, it's beddy bye time for mommy. Lots of love to my wiggle worm. Kisses!!
