So the other night, Riley and I are laying in bed when he asks me "what's a DUNDUS?" Of course I am completely confused by his question...but then finally realize that he is wondering what a FUNDUS is... since he had read our latest 24 week baby update. To be honest, I didnt even have an answer for him. He then replied "well, apparently it's above your belly button now, and I dont' know, but if someone told me that MY FUNDUS had shifted, I think I would be a little concerned to know what it was!!!" !! Oh my gosh, I have never laughed so hard! Well, for all of you that wish to know, here is the definition:
Fundus The top of the uterus. The height of the fundus is sometimes measured to help determine the length of the pregnancy.
There- now we all know!
Lately the baby has been kicking quite a bit. Making me jump out of a my chair on a couple of occasions. It's weird-- it seems to be kicking DOWNWARD... and not so much out toward my tummy. It's one of the most awkward feelings, but I am glad I am feeling it more. It shouldnt be long before Riles can feel too!
Well, HAPPY HUMP DAY to all-- hopefully the rest of the week goes by nice and fast... feeling it's time for another weekend already! Take care!

All Shopped Out!
Happy Monday All!
Well, finally someone trusted me to look after their child all by myself! Blain and Grace left Faith with Riley and I on Saturday morning. Had to set the alarm so I would be up and ready by the time she arrived. After giving a fake little (2 second) cry when they left, Riley and I were alone with Faith. (For those of you dont know... Faith is about a year and a half!)Luckily I had clarified with them, before they left, what exactly one should DO with Faith?! They didnt think I was serious when I said "what does she DO?"... "will she watch "CARS" with me?"... to which they replied "maybe for 15 minutes!"... hmmm... now I was scratching my head as to how I would entertain her for the next 3 hours! But I must say, it was lots of fun...and absolutely exhausting! I quickly found out that she really didnt need to be ENTERTAINED... but was quite content to follow me around doing whatever things I needed to get done. Faith and I managed to clean 2 bathrooms, empty the dishwasher (she helped), wrap a present and fold a load of laundy... nothing to it! I gave her some food... and even got to change a diaper. it was so cute to see her start squealing when Blain and Grace came back to pick her up! AHHH.. seriously I had lots of fun... and I feel like maybe I am more capable at this stuff that I thought!
This weekend we have also had Grandma Cheryl (not sure this is the name we have settled on!) down visiting us! As soon as she arrived on Saturday, we headed out to do some shopping. We traipsed across the city to go to Motherhood Maternity. Managed to find a few cute things including a black and white dress (thanks to my mommy!) that will look fabulous for work. Then we walked around Chinook and found a few things to buy there. We were both very tired by the end of the day... my feet were a little numb, but overall it was a good day! Of course, no shopping day could be complete without Grandma buying something for EMER... a little tiny onesie from the GAP that says "The Apple of Mommy's Eye"! ahhhhh! Since Riles already has a shirt that says "My Daddy is the Man"... she thought it was only fair!
Yesterday entailed a bit more shopping- with Riley joining us this time. We bought the diaper bag we had been eyeing up-- it even attaches to our stroller so I think we will really like it! I justified buying a nice one since I have a suspicion I will not be carrying around a "purse" of my own for awhile! Riley got his first experience in a maternity store...and looked quite pleased as he picked up a MECHANICS magazine off the coffee table! He was a good sport! Emer now has dangly toys for his/her carseat too.. we bought one and Cheryl bought a couple as well. We also bought a few different soothers... so we are almost all set! Now I am left wondering...what all GOES in a diaper bag! soother...diapers...wipes...hmmmm! From there I am not sure! oh well- we will figure it out! OOO-- one more feat this weekend... we finally picked the paint color for the room... IVORY TUSK is the name... its a nice creamy color that I think will be nice! I deliberately took the paint to get it tinted right then and there so I can't change my mind any more. I think Riley will get a start on it next weekend! I can't wait to see it! He still is not sure why we are "repainting" the EXACT same color...but I have promised him that once he starts putting it on he will realize it is NOTHING like the yellow we have now! He is so funny!
Well- you can check out the new picture I posted this morning... my belly button is starting to look a little funny now.. but overall I am in love with the bump still...and all the kicks that have been coming with it! Tonite Cheryl and I will go for a pedicure to heal our sore tootsies! I think we could both use it! Hope everyone has a great week!!

Into our 23rd Week
We finally made it back from our weekend in Sask. The weather kept us there a day longer than planned but it was nice to have the extra time with family. Everyone was anxious to see the baby bump and although some thought it was the HUGEST they'd seen, things seem to be progressing nicely. I am enjoying the little movements I feel now, although I still think our little EMER is a very sleepy little baby. Surprisingly no one made many predictions as to the sex of the baby. Anyways- I am still feeling really good...no headaches...little heartburn... feet have been pretty good too so hoping this feeling will last for awhile yet! If anyone is interested, I have included the 23 week update from the website I check each week...will let you know where the baby is at etc. Hope you all have a great week. Love the Spaks!
23 Weeks
The body of your baby is getting plumper but his skin is still fairly wrinkled due to the lack of subcutaneous fat. He’s starting to drink the amniotic fluid he’s floating in, and his digestive system is mature enough to absorb nutrients. And not only is your baby starting to drink and taste, but all of his sensory systems are maturing as well. Your baby’s face and body is looking more and more like those of an infant, the bones of his inner ear are beginning to harden and his pancreas is developing (the pancreas is very important in the production of insulin). Your baby’s fingernails are almost fully formed and the lanugo (fine hair) that covers his body is getting darker. Your baby continues to grow in preparation for the journey of birth. You baby is now more than 11 inches long and weighs over a pound.
You may find yourself having (or starting) mood swings. Don’t worry; these are normal and will subside either late in your third trimester or shortly after the birth of your baby. These mood swings are from the rising hormone levels as your body readies itself for delivery.

Bubblegum Bubbles!
Well, little Emer, Since the first kick I felt a little over a week ago I am sure starting to feel you more. It feels like someone is popping big bubblegum bubbles in my tummy. You are either very small still or sleep a lot since I dont get to feel you very often, but it's a couple times each day that I can almost picture you stirring around in there. It's really neat! dont worry though...there is definitely more room in there now as even my belly button is starting to look funny! Last night was the first time I have been treated like a "pregnant lady " by a near stranger... offering up her chair to me as I stood shifting my weight from one foot to the other while at a cocktail reception. It's true- people really ARE nicer to you when you are pregnant! This weekend we will likely get more than enough attention as everyone claims to want to touch our baby belly! Maybe someone will be lucky enough to feel you kick too! Gosh, I can't wait to finally meet you and see your sweet face... I am guessing you will be the spitting image of your Daddy so I can't wait!
Incase any of you have not seen, we posted a new picture of Emer's bump this week so check it out! Have a great weekend... looking forward to seeing all the NB'ers this weekend!
