For the Love of....

I just wanted to take this moment to share my new found appreciation for GRILLED PEPPERS... particularly Orange and Yellow.  They are my newest thing!  I make Riley BBQ them for me almost every day.  And since I always eat more than I expect, it usually has me running to the grocery store each night after work!  YUM- I just cant get enough of them.  We brush them with a little olive oil...then sprinkle them with lemon pepper... highly recommend you all try them at home !

Also, in case i didnt mention, I have my Dad bringing me his waffle iron this weekend to "borrow" until Emer arrives.  It is hard to find a good waffle these days... and I think a few good feasts of them oughta get rid of that craving once and for all!  I think this was the strangest request my Dad has had in awhile....anyways, yay for waffles and peppers!!  Have a great long weekend everyone!

First Meeting with the OBGYN!

So this morning Riley and I met the new doc.  Much to my surprise she was ALSO 6 months pregnant when she walked in!  Immediately I am sizing her up thinking "there is no way SHE is delivering our baby!"... so I was a bit misinformed about this whole clinic thing.  The doctor was great, however I will NOT be meeting the other doctors that she works with therefore it will be 1/12 possible doctors delivering sweet Emer.  It will be a surprise for us all.  I think I am over all of that, realizing the doc will really only be there for the ACTUAL birth anyways... and as long as I am receiving good care up and until that point there is really not going to be that much difference amongst the docs.  9/12 are female which is also nice to know.  S

o once we got that all sorted out, the rest of the appointment was pretty normal. The gestational diabetes test came back good, no worries there.  I have only gained a couple of pounds in the last 5 weeks.. YAY!  Blood pressure was good and Emer's heart beat at only 140 this time... hmmm...really keeping me guessing as to the sex!  The doc could feel where Emer was lying.  He/She had it's head down, back to my left and legs kicking to the right of my belly button... AH!  Apparently I am measuring 1cm bigger than expected, but she was not concerned about my dates... apparently if it's more than 3 cm they start to wonder.  Other things the doc was unconcerned about include the "burning" sensation I have on my upper stomach... i'ts just nerves and stretching and the numb heels... this is normal and then the weird cramps I had last night... it's just pressure from the baby.  SO.... all in all things went really well and we really liked her.  From now on I have to go every two weeks... that seems like a lot!  the Clinic is a ways from work so could mean a fair bit of time away from work, but my boss seems fine with everything... he's been through all this before!

So that is the Emer update for today!  This weekend we have my Dad and Leslie coming down to visit so we are looking forward to some good "eats" and I am sure a healthy dose of shopping and lounging in the sun!  Supposed to be 28 degrees here.. hope everyone has a great weekend as well!

Love the Spaks!

15 week Countdown

Well we now have 15 weeks to wait for our bundle of joy to arrive.  You can sure see the difference that 2 weeks has made on my baby bump!  I am amazed each time I see the weekly picture!  I still feel fairly small and am still very comfortable so I guess that's all that matters.  I can feel the baby a lot more now which means he/she is getting bigger and stronger every day which is exciting.

Not too much to update- on Thursday I had the blood test done for Gestational Diabetes- it wasnt too bad but the sugary drink gave me heartburn...should find out the results this week.  Emer and I travelled to Regina for the day on Friday- it was a long morning starting at about 5am... flying to Regina, driving 2.5 hours to the plant site, then driving back.  We managed a QUICK visit with Andrea and Reid (Thanks for supper guys!), then flew back and got home around 11pm.  I dont think anyone on site even realized I was pregnant since I had my jackets on all day... this was just fine... didnt want any special treatment...so up and down the stairs we went watching the trucks get loaded!  Was sure nice to be home though!!

This weekend was pretty relaxing, we managed to organize a few things for Emer in order to make some space in our house!  Sunday Riles surprised me with the sweetest "mothers to be" card...and an awesome FOOT SPA!  He even cooked a gourmet feast for dinner too which was all very sweet!  The foot spa was like heaven as I got to sit in the kitchen relaxing while he did all the work.  Thank baby!  I am sure I will not get to relax like this on Mother's day again for awhile!  After supper we went to our neighbours house...they just brought home their new baby boy on Saturday.  He was so small! Even though he weighed over 8 lbs he still looked tiny to us.  If you can believe the chances.. our #1 boys name... is also the name that they chose!!  Riley was distraught!  All through supper he was mopping.  When I reminded him that MAYBE we will have a GIRL... he kinda snapped out of it and said "oh ya, I guess hey!"  Oh well, I assured him that if we REALLY want to name our kid that name, then we just WILL!  And NO PEOPLE, we will not tell you the name! haha.

Anyways- that's enough for one day. Only thing exciting going on this week is my first meeting with the OB/GYN on Thursday. Looking forward to meeting the doc that will deliver our baby.  Hopefully we like him/her!

Organ Kicking!

Hello All! There has not been tooo much excitement in the Spak household in the last week, but figured I'd update you on what I could.

According to the websites, the baby is just over 1 pound now and I can certainly feel that he/she is growing as the kicks are stronger and a bit more frequent.  Mostly while driving or checking email first thing in the morning.  I am really not sure WHAT is being kicked but some feel so weird!  Riley still has not been able to feel, but I dont think he is taking it personally! Soon Sweetie!

On Sunday we painted Emer's room-- IVORY TUSK they call it-- it's CREAM!  :)  We will move everything back into the room tonite as it required one more coat last nite.  It looks a little plain right now, but once everything is moved back in and pictures are hung I am sure we will be really happy with it.  This way, it's nice and neutral ...if Emer is a girl we can play up the creams...if it's a boy then we will do more blues and greens.  I can't wait to have that little bundle asleep in it's crib!

Speaking of actually HAVING a baby... last night it occured to me that I will have to HAVE the baby...until this point I was not worrying AT ALL about the actual ACT of having a baby!  I want a BABY I just dont want to go through Labour... Any suggestions!  ha.  The book I am reading made me realize how miserable I should expect to be during the last month or two and how humbling/humiliating labour will actually be... I am sure its also gratifying, but I really do see it as being humiliating... maybe women just all block it out of of their mind since no one I know has really described it this way... ??  Regardless... was a bit freaked out last night.  Poor Riles was like "well you knew all of this didnt you?"... ummmm. ... "NO"!  I mean you THINK you know....but the book I am reading is very FRANK about the gory details.  I think I was not quite ready for that.  I am hoping that by the 9th month I am just so ready to have the baby arrive that I will not mind!  I think I wont read any more for awhile!  I like to live in my "bubble world"!

Well, we have not been good about taking pics lately but we will get a belly shot tonite and shots of the baby room all set up... promise to post them tomorrow!  In the meantime, we hope everyone has a great day!

Riley, Kyla and Baby Spakling!
