Baby Hiccups!

Ah- the sweetest thing at some ungodly hour last night... while dying from the heat, I notice that little Emer must have the hiccups!  It lasted for at least 10 minutes and I wondered if I would ever be able to get back to sleep... but it was so sweet!

Our weekend away in Golden was super.  Exactly what we needed- some relaxation and time away to do whatever we wanted.  We had dinner both nites at a little restaurant on the mountain..they had the best chocolate banana creme brulee!  one of the trip's highlights I am sure.  Our cabin was perfect.  It was all redone with pine trim everywhere and a 4 poster bed made from pine logs.  Outside there was a hot tub (yes everyone..we turned it down!) and a fire pit.  Not to mention an herb garden that supplies the restaurant with fresh herbs everyday.  It was such a hot weekend, but we were glad to be away since the cabin was so well isolated in the trees.... we would have been much hotter at home!  Somehow we managed to watch a few movies, tour kicking horse mountain and do a little browsing in a few stores as well.  Now we just need to figure out when we can go back!

We are very glad we got our trip in before it was too late.  I am starting to get a bit uncomfortable these last few days/week.  Sitting for any length of time really bothers the top part of my stomach - it is still completely numb and feels like a large bruise...and the area is about the size of the palm of my hand now.  Still not too sure why that is.  Putting ice on it seems to help, but I am not too sure if that is ok to do or not!?!  Aside from that I had to laugh on our way home yesterday as we stopped half way for a bathroom break and my sandals didnt fit!  I had to wedge my feet in there... I was in and out in about 3 mintues... and there were already big red marks where the straps were!  Ah- gotta love the heat!  Riley did find me a little paddling pool yesterday though.  It should be just right to jump into tonite!  :)

Well hope the heat is not taking too much out of everyone-- and that you have a great Canada Day!

Love the Spaks!

Calcium Something

Today's Doctor's visit was surprisingly quick with no wait in the waiting room and no other patients ahead of me- what a change from the last one!  I met a new Doctor that COULD be one of the 12 to deliver Emer so guess that was good.  Blood pressure has dropped back down so there is no concern there.  Weight was fine, they dont even say it out loud now, so I like that!  Emer is measuring at about 32 weeks... we are about 31.5 so just about right.  Baby is still head down with its BUM in my ribs... that explains the 4 inch radius of bruise like pain in that region!  The heartbeat was between 120 and 130..oh boy... we better get to work on that little BOY name!!  Emer only booted the Doc once this time which was good.  The only real news we found out was regarding Mom!

For quite some time I have been having some sharp pains somehow involving the bladder. So finally they sent me for some lab work last week and the results were in.  Apparently it is looking like I have Calcium Oscillate... I think that's it.  Anyways, it's basically urinary trac stones.  It's nothing serious and is common in pregnancy and there is not much they can do for it.  I was told to keep an eye on things and if it gets bad to go to the Maternity ER at our hospital... blockage is the only real concern.  If this happens it could mean a shunt to allow the stones to pass... and most likely a delivery "while we are there"...the doc says!  So in the meantime, Tylenol is really my only option, but I think I will be just fine.  As long as things dont get worse, we are all good!  Ah- told you all, Emer wants to join us early!  It's too early though, so we hope things will stay the same for now.

Anyways- that is today's update.  Promise we will ACTUALLY take some pics this week and post them early on in the week.  Have a great "sort-of" long weekend everyone!

Baby Emer!

To Baby Emer,

We are getting so excited to finally have you join us.  As much as it seems to be taking so long, it really has flown by and before we know it, you will change our family forever.  Feeling your much stronger kicks these days is amazing.  I know you are growing a lot now and can picture your cute litle face in there.  I hope you aren't getting too lonely in there!  It seems you are inching your way up and under my ribs as far as you possibly can these days, but I still must say I don't mind at all.

Yesterday your Daddy and I watched you bumping around in my tummy for at least 10 minutes.  It looked like you were dribbling a basket ball at one point.  Dad is amazed that you are so strong.  I am dying to know if you are a boy or a girl!!!  But I suppose if we have waited this long, we can wait 60 more days.  I am starting to think that you will come early though which would be even better!

Well- sweet dreams, Baby!  We will see you soon!

Love Mommy!

62 Days till Emer's Arrival

We had a busy weekend doing some more shopping and a bit of pampering for moi!  My mom was down for one last visit before Emer's arrival.  We had one "job" for the weekend which was to finally get the baby room decorated.  We had a heck of a time finding what we needed but managed to eventually get some stuff up on the walls.  We must take some pics and post them-- tomorrow perhaps.  We now have 3 stars (2 beige, 1 navy) hanging and the cutest wall plaque ever....it reads "all because two people fell in love..."... brings a tear to your eye hey!! :)  Thanks Mom!

Aunty Donna joined us as well on SAT-- the three of us went for pedicures which was so nice... and did a bit of shopping. When we got home, my darling hubby had a gourmet feast waiting for us!  between Saturday and Friday afternoon I was pretty much played out!  Well,...my feet were anyways!  Yesterday when we ran out for a bit my poor feet would barely squeeze into my sandals.  They looked like stuffed hams!  So, amongst everything else I had to find a new pair of sandals that had BETTER fit until the end of the pregnancy!  Emer has really stumped Grandma Karen as the self-proclaimed baby-sex-teller is baffled by my pregnant belly.  She has no clear idea at this point whether Emer is a boy or girl!  Apparently this is a first!  We thought it was quite funny!

Aside from that things are well.  The baby is growing every day and my belly button is starting to show some signs of outward movement now.  I wouldnt class it as an "outtie" but it is showing through my shirts now!  Still no stretch marks to speak of (knock on wood!), but my heartburn is back in full force.  My lower back is still hurting at night and lately I have noticed my entire pelvis cracks when I get up in the night...not sure about that... but guess flexibility can only be a good thing right!?

This thursday is another doc appt- seems like just yesterday we had the last.  Just hoping the blood pressure has stayed put for now!  Then FRIDAY we are off to Golden for our weekend get away.  Plan to do some relaxing and eat some good food at the local fab restaurant there.  Weekends are slowly closing in on us now as we anxiously await our new arrival.  Not knowing the sex is killing me... but I am so glad we have left the surprise till the end.

Hope everyone has a great long weekend!

Lotsa Love, Kyla, Riley and Emer!
