Baby has arrived!

Rushing Baby Em!

Yesterday we had another doctors appt.  Daddy came with us for this one... of course...we ended up waiting for 2 hours before being seen.  Still not sure how that is possible for a scheduled appt... but whatever! We met the doctor that will be replacing my very pregnant doctor... we both really liked her.  My doc had decided it was time to get things going at this appt... but we kindly refused her efforts in favour of letting EM come when he/she is ready to join us.  We would prefer as little intervention as possible. I know.. everyone else is probably thinking they would be begging the doc to get the baby out by now... but we are perfectly happy waiting at least another week.  We need at least one more weekend to ourselves afterall... or maybe it's my interest in making sure my feet, hands and hair are all in tip top condition before all the excitement begins.  At this rate I am hoping it's no earlier than next WED. But we will welcome Emer whenever it's time!  We are all ready to go.  The heartbeat at this appt was 140... who knows at this point!  Riley and I honestly do not even have a GUESS as to what the sex is... I can't decide what I think it is!  We will be ecstatic either way... guaranteed!  Other things we learned at the appt include that there would seem to be no progress yet on Emer's arrival although the baby is now very low.  ALso, my blood pressure was back up... which means... GUESS WHERE I GET TO GO TOMORROW!  back to the freaking hospital for another 2-4 hour wait.  I am told that that doctor will decide what to do from there...induce me on the spot... have me make an earlier appt next week to do a follow up... or wait for my next appt next THURS.  I am a bit mistified as to why I have to go back since it's just BARELY high again... and I am convinced the 2 hour wait and dehydration at the doc office yesterday played a big part in it... and I am crossing my fingers there will be no talk of an induction!  I dont' understand the HURRY here.. dont get me wrong.. I want nothing more than to meet our baby... but when it's TIME.. and it's not time.. let alone overdue!  I am a bit nervous we will have the same doc as the last time at the hospital.  He could barely speak English... there is no way I will go down without a fight on an induction based on his recommendation!  Anyways- planning to head to there first thing in the morning.. in hopes that my blood pressure will be at it's lowest with little stress.... I will take plenty of food and beverages.. and just be prepared for the longest wait possible... hopefully I can stay sane that way!

Aside from that, some of you may have noticed that we have changed our voice mail at home... now if we dont answer you will receive a short update on the baby.,.. in other words... NO...there is no baby...we're just not home... or YES... we are on our way... or YES...had the baby and aren't taking calls!  That's the plan. We know how panic can set in these days when phones dont get answered so figured we would address that right away! haha.

One more thing- yesterday Whitemud surprised me with a fabulous lunch... with mini crave cupcakes, tim horton's coffee..the best pizza ever... and of course a few presents!  We got a great baby einstein play centre and a bunch of toys and things off our registry!  It was sooo nice ! and unexpected!  They have started an office baby pool so we will see who takes home the loot on that!

Stay tuned- if there are any updates we will let you know.. this hot weekend outta almost kill me... but at least it should be relaxing! Have a great weekend everyone!

Emer's Baby Shower

Another busy weekend for us!

Friday we babysat little Faith and all was good! We think we are getting pretty good at this kid thing!  Saturday we had a few friends over for a BBQ which will likely be our last for awhile!  It was so hot Friday and Saturday, that I think I am permanently swollen now! By the end of the night on Sat my feet were the laughing stock of the party... they looked like Flinstone feet and I think the "cankles" have now turned to "thankles"..since they seem to go from about the knee down!  YUCK! Sleeping with my feet elevated that night seemed to help but they ached each time I got up to go to the bathroom.  Add to that, my throbbing finger.. from the ring I still had on... and that equaled very little sleep for me!  So Sunday when I got up I was determined to figure out a way to at least get my ring off before the finger turned purple!  Since I read that any medical type place could do it we went to the medicentre right for when it opened... only to find out that they didnt have the tool to do it..so off we went to the emergency care place ... not quite an EMERGENCY... but that is where they told us to go.  While we waited there it was close to 11:00 so Riley started phoning around to some jewellers to see if anyone could do it. We just assumed that no ACTUAL jewellers would be around on a SUNDAY... but to our delight he found one that said they would do it so off we went to the mall and in no time my finger was feeling better already.  once the baby comes I will take the ring back in and get it put back together.  They assured me I was not the only one to come in with the same problem!

Sunday afternoon Riley went golfing while I went to Emer's shower with all of the Lafarge Ladies (or ex-Lafargers) that was put on by Lainey.  Her place was all decked out for the occasion with balloons and flowers....not to mention the FULL spread of food on the table!  We totally gorged ourselves... there were even CRAVE cupcakes...need I say more!  We did a bunch of visiting and everyone got caught up... then we played a few games.  One was to guess different flavours of babyfood... some of them were NASTY!  And then everyone cut a piece of string to however big they thought I was around.  SOME were close.. others we just plain OFF... Me AND the one women could fit in her peice of string with a full foot left over!  Oh well- lots of fun... and I can't believe how many cute things Emer received from people that have never even met this critter!  We now have a full supply of baby books, we have babymonitors (Riley's top priority!), lots more sleepers and onesies, lots of stuff to keep Emer smelling good after baths etc.. more blankets and one full set of the RABBIT dishes that I am sure everyone remembers... everything was abolutely adorable... and the afternoon was perfect!  Thanks again ladies... and special thanks to Lainey for everything that went in to making the afternoon perfect!

By the time we got home last nite my feet were ready to explode again!  But today is my last MONDAY at work... tomorrow my last TUESDAY... you get the point!  :)  Doctor's appt is on WED so we will find out if things look like they are moving along.  I am hoping that Emer holds off until at least SUNDAY.  After that , it's fair game!  We are still "getting along" very well together and I am not getting overly anxious to have Emer vacate just yet, which is a good sign I think.  But I am getting anxious to meet him/her.   Riley is on 24 hour standby at this point...thinking it could happen at ANY minute.  (He is a little ansy I think!!)  It's adorable how he is keeping track of everything that still needs to be done. At this point I dont think I am allowed to put anything off!  We are not sure what we are doing for our last weekend..assuming there is one... but looks like a supper out one nite...maybe a movie... and a nice breakfast on sunday!  As long as I get to enjoy 2 afternoon naps over the weekend.. I think I will be good!  COME ON EMER... come out and meet us already!! :)

Have a good week!

37.5 Weeks

This morning we had another doctor's appointment.  There was no wait and I got to have the doctor's attention for more than a minute which was nice!

My blood pressure is nicely sitting in the 120 range again now so all is good in that regard.  The baby is measuring on track and is "fully engaged"!  The reason we can be so sure is that the doctor proceeded to PROD me so deeply on the pelvis that I winced in pain!  I was not very happy... she could have at least WARNED me!  The babies heartrate was around 137-140 today.  Baby is still very active and overall I am feeling good.  I have been puffy lately and have taken off all my rings...except for the one I am convinced we will have to CUT off!  YUP... we tried everything last nite... and my finger still hurts... and the ring still remains.  For now, it's not cutting off my circulation, but when and if it does I suppose a trip to the jeweller may be required!  I can't say I wasn't warned...but my periodic puffiness seemed to turn a bit more permanent overnight!

Tonight we will install Emer's carseat and then pretty much everything is ready to go!  Just a few more things to pack in the hospital bag and that is about it.  We have eased up on the nesting this week in order to try and relax as much as possible.  This weekend we will have one last hurrah with a few friends as we are having a BBQ.  Then Sunday is a shower for Emer with the ladies from Lafarge.  I am looking forward to seeing everyone there.

Well- keep your fingers crossed that Emer makes a speedy and simple entrance into this world... in a roughly short time frame... we are beginning to realize that our time as a "couple" has nearly come to an end and that our lives will be forever changed when this baby arrives.  As they say "it's the end of an Era!"... the Kyla and Riley era... but we know there is nothing that will compare to what we are about to experience.  Riley claims he is not sleeping lately because he is getting so anxious for Emer to arrive.  I just can't wait to see the little person that Riley and I created.  eeeek!!

Well good luck to all of you BABY POOLERS... we will keep you posted on who guesses the closest!  Thanks for checking in on the Spaks!

Full Fledged Nesting in Effect

Hope everyone enjoyed a nice long weekend!  It was so nice to be at home with Riles and not have any concrete plans.  Unfortunately we did not attend the wedding in Cranbrook that we had planned as both Mommy and Daddy required some rest and relaxation with all that has been going on the last week or so.  We managed to fit in a movie date the one night and a few good meals just incase this is our last opportunity!  We got about 8-12 hours of sleep each night which was much needed.  Aside from that we both were obsessed with the things that need to be done in the house before the baby arrives.  Dont ask me why or how some of the things ended up on the list, but before you knew it I was scrubbing and disinfecting each door and door knob in the house, cleaning the washing machine and dusting the frames of the kitchen table chairs!  Needless to say my list has continued to grow as more things cross my mind...including repainting of all of the white trim in the house!  Like that will get done anytime soon! :)  Of course the house still looks like nothing has been done...since I did all the things no one would notice in a million years!! ha.  But we are getting close!  Riley finished up the garden shed he built and got it all organized so that we can make some room for storage in the house... Emer's stroller will even have a place soon enough!

Emer is now 37 weeks old!  And fully baked.  I tell him/her EACH day that they are welcome to come out and meet us whenever he/she is ready!  I am still getting lots of movement and even on cue if I really try hard!  What a good baby!  Doc appt again this thursday and Emer's "Lafarge" shower is being hosted by Lainey this weekend so we are looking forward to seeing everyoine at that!  Hopefully they wont all have the same reaction as Lainey as she said "you like that one of those women where you say...she looks like shes ready to pop!" I guess that means I am at least looking like I am ready to have this baby!  Luckily I am still feeling well and have no real complaints.  Only 9 more days left of work and am looking forward to wrapping things up!

I will attempt to get another picture posted here right away this week.  Please keep your fingers crossed that Baby Em will join us soon!!  Have a great day!
