Prenatal Appt News!

Well this morning I had my second prenatal appointment... after the doc checked my blood pressure she told me to lay down... then she got out the DOPPLER.  I was NOT really expecting that, guess I had read that you could hear the baby's heartbeat by now, but hadn't really considered the doctor would check today.  So needless to say, Riley was not with me at this appointment unfortunately.  Unfortunately because within 5 seconds of her putting it onto my belly she smiled and said "well you definitely have a baby in there"!  After  I realized that the static like, muffled noise was actually the sounds of our baby's little heart racing...I was so happy and relieved to know that everything was ok with our little EMER.

After I left the doctor's office it really set in that there is a LIVING baby inside of me!  My eyes got all blurred...as I tried to get to my vehicle!  I called Riles right away to let him know.  I am sure my description of what it sounded like was not a very good one, but I know he was happy to know that we finally had proof!  He will get to hear and see it all next week when we have the ultrasound....and I am sure it will set in for him as well.

Well...that is all for today, just happy to report that Emer is healthy and well!  God I can't wait to meet this little one!

Emer Update

Well poor little Emer may have been used as a launching pad the other night for the dog!  I don't think I have ever seen Emer's Daddy so upset with that poor pooch.  Hopefully it didnt hurt the baby.  Everyone assures me these little creatures can withstand a lot so hopefully that is the case.  Guess I have to be a lot more aware when laying around with Koho...he's small but he runs and jumps everywhere!

Gramma Karen is down this weekend...she got here last nite.  She says that anyone that knows anything about pregnant women would notice that I am pregnant.  Guess my "larger than normal" bust is a clear give away!  We got to show off all the cutesy little things we have bought so far.  She brought a little pregnancy journal where I can write in every day.  Unfortunately for her she has already got to witness the little "burps" that come up out of nowhere.  Great Gramma Gabruch also sent up a list of names I had told her to put together if she had any requests.  To my enjoyment...there were many names on there that were pretty darn HIP if you ask me!  One was even NEVEAH-- heaven spelled backwards!  So that was neat to have her input although she assures me "you name it whatever you want"!

This weekend we plan to do some shopping once Julie is down so will post an update as to our buys!

Almost 3!

Well, we are almost to the 3 month mark!  And so far so good.  Thankfully I am slowly becoming LESS tired (although Riley may disagree), less hungry, and Emer has moved a LITTLE off the bladder from last week!  My website tells me that the baby will be approx. 3.5 inches by the end of the week.  That is about the size of a lemon!  That's pretty darn big I think!    This week I have my next doctor's appointment.  I don't expect they will do much at it, just check the vitals I suppose.  Next Friday we have the first ultrasound. This will check for Down Syndrome and a few other things.  It will be super exciting to finally see some movement...and some PROOF of Emer's existence!  We are really looking forward to it!

This week my Mom and Clinton and Julie are all coming down.  The plan is for Clinton to take the spare bed from us....making LOTS of room for us to start collecting for our little one.  Julie and I plan to do some serious shopping for whatever we can find while the boys watch little Wyatt...and a bunch of hockey!  I still have not stepped foot in a maternity store so I am looking forward to checking them out.  Luckily though, Meghan surprised me with a bunch of maternity clothes/books and other goodies last week--what a nice surprise...all will definitely come in handy soon!

Other good news- we have all but decided on a little girls name!!  SOOO excited.  I think the boys is actually picked too, but would still be nice to have one more name picked for each...just in case!  But we won't push our luck!  Riley had a dream this weekend...that we had a BOY.. so not sure how a Daddy's intuition plays into things, but guess we will wait and see.

Thanks for checking up on us!  Lotsa Love...the Spaks!

Emer on the Bladder!

What the HECK!  The frequent trips to the bathroom have just now hit me in the last couple days! When I actually get there I barely have to go!  Pretty funny though!

Aside from that I shared the news with my boss this week...who was very happy and not at all surprised.  His wife has even offered to hook me up with a good doctor...she was in labour/delivery for 25 years as a nurse.  So think I will likely take her up on it!  Can't hurt to have a decent doc!

Nothing else is new.. almost time for another pic on sun/mon. Not to worry..once I get a few I will put them all up together...it will make it more interesting!  Catch ya later!
