Ultrasound Update- 18 weeks 4 days! Well the ultrasound is finally done. I was so busy at work this morning that had forgotten all about drinking my water until Riley was about to pick me up for the appointment. I didnt think much of it since water normally finds its way to my bladder very quickly anyways. Managed to swig down both of the bottles of water I had and thought I was "good to go"! Then we get in for the ultrasound and the lady tells me my bladder isnt full enough to get all of the measurements so she sends us back to the waiting room to "drink 2-3 more glasses of water and wait 20 min"! As we are leaving the room I already feel uncomfortable walking and am sure that it's just a matter of waiting and that no extra water is really necessary. But Riles makes a good point saying...we dont want to get sent out AGAIN so I'd better drink some water. So I settle on 1.5 glasses. Done! That was all fine and dandy until my bladder started to ACHE! I was fidgeting...and complaining...just a bit...:) And Riles starts trying to distract me with pictures on the internet etc. I was having none of that. You know it's not a good sign when you find yourself wondering if it might actually be possible to PEE yourself in public! But it got worse when I pretty much had a meltdown and started to cry! I had no idea how much longer it would be before they would fit us back in... so i decide I MUST go to the bathroom at least a bit just to take the edge off. As I get up I can barely walk! When I get back Riley gives me MORE water...just in case. Within about 4 minutes I MUST go again. Then we FINALLY get called back in to the room...it's now been another 30 minutes. I feel like I might explode as she starts the ultrasound again. She looks and says "um, it looks like your bladder is about to burst" UM..DO YOU THINK!? She makes me go and empty 2 full cups... much to my delight! They were able to finish the ultrasound finally!
Things we learned when we finally got to do the ultrasound include Emer's little heartbeating now at only 144 BPM..hmmm..might have to change my hypothesis to a BOY! Emer was not a very cooperative baby, making it difficult to complete all of the measurements that they needed, but we did get to see a little hand, face and spine. We thought this ultrasound would be a bit clearer than it was but nonetheless the baby has definitely changed and all looks good so far! Riley is convinced he knows its a boy now, although I still haven't figured out if he is being serious! I couldnt make out much on the screen so how he could have picked that out is beyond me! Well... less than 5 months till we find out forsure!
Have a great weekend everyone...enjoy the pics! |
Peg Perego Anyone?! So I am anxiously awaiting the ebay auction to end today at 3pm to see if I have "won" us the "privledge" of buying little Emer's car seat and stroller! So far it looks like I will get it for half of the selling price here! Here's hoping! The stroller weighs only 15 lbs compared to most strollers which are 35-40 this will be a GODSENT! If we dont win it we are back to square one I guess!
Aside from that lately I have been wondering if I am feeling the baby moving a bit. Hard to say... either it's my imagination or I have completely missed the whole "fluttering/butterfly" feeling I read about. Either way, we will see if it happens again today! Riley was bugging me as we read on line that at this stage the baby sleeps something like 18/24 hours each day... he says it's something like MY sleep schedule! Overall I have been quite good lately though. Fewer headaches at least... and when I get them they aren't until the end of the day...just in time to see Riles unfortunately :)
Anyways- tomorrow is the ultrasound so we will keep you posted if we find out the sex and will let you know if we get a steal of a deal on the stroller! Unfortunately I am away all next week so you may not get much in the way of updates... wish me luck in the middle of nowhere...better known as Saskatchewan... for those of you that are Saskie's...no offense...however where I am going really IS the middle of nowhere! :) |
Happy Easter Everyone! Well we enjoyed a nice long weekend with our visitors! Andrea and Reid, Derek and Nat came to visit us from Regina. They tuckered me..and Riles... out on Friday with the afternoon shopping excursion, and a couple late nites, but we had lots of fun and it was worth it! Battled with heatburn a bit the last few days, and of course the usual neck/head aches, but other than that am feeling fabulous. Baby Emer has decided to make an appearance.. I swear in the last week alone. Walking around the mall I no longer felt PUDGY...but PREGNANT. To be honest, even though I was so looking forward to this, it kinda freaked me out wondering how BIG am I really going to GET!? Seeing those women who, to me, look ready to POP any day... is kinda freaky! BUT, my husband, the sweetie, assures me I am "cute" and that he is happy to see Emer's baby bump appearing after such a long wait. Andrea helped me find a pair of black dress pants at the GAP so am feeling very comfy in them this morning! A nice change from the ever tightening pair I have been squeezing into the last couple weeks.
Today Baby Spakling is exactly 18 full weeks! This Friday we will have our next/final ultrasound...this is bitter sweet for us as I was so anxious to book it but now know it will be so long until we see our baby again. Riley will be watching for "it"...in the ultrasound so we will keep you posted if we determine the sex.... I am dying to know, but the plan is NOT to find out... but an accident would be OK too! Tonight we will take the new pic and will post tomorrow! |
Baby Change Table- Check! SO the hunt is over at last! The change table/dresser has been ordered and will be here anywhere from 2-8 weeks from now! It's as close a match as anything and is plenty big with lots of storage.
Our weekend was pretty uneventful.. just some shopping on Saturday. Managed to find a few shirts... even a few non-maternity sweaters that cut off below the bust.. they will be perfect for work. Only found one "acceptable" pair of dress pants but I am determined to hang tough till the weekend so I can look at one more store before committing to them! Good thing it's a short week!
Aside from that I think what I have read on the internet is TRUE... that close to 60% of all Daddy's to Be experience some type of pregnancy symptoms throughout the pregnancy! Riles had heartburn yesterday which he NEVER usually gets and hadnt even eaten much of anything. He's also been tired and had a sore back! Who knows forsure, but I am convinced he is having some "sympathy symptoms" for me! How cute is that!?
Anyways- havent taken this week's picture yet, but will post it tomorrow! Have a nice short week everyone! |
