Hospital Stay The first night in the hospital was pretty bad. I think we both slept a total of 20 minutes. It seemed like every half hour someone was coming into the room to do somthing. Joshua stayed right in the room with me, and there was a pull out bed for Johan. The nurses were all pretty nice. I had a nurse for myself, and then Johsua had his own nurse. The baby nurse helped me alot in learning how to breastfeed (still something I'm working at mastering). We had to keep a chart of how often I fed him, how long, and of his poop and pee. The only way to really monitor how much goes in to a breast fed baby is to monitor the output. Friday was pretty much a blurr. I was still on the IV with morifine. ..... Dr. Fleisher didn't come and see me, but Dr. Torres did. He works with Fleisher in the same office and it was his week to do the hospital visits. He came and examined me everyday. The pediatrician also came everyday and examined Joshua. He had his hearing checked. They do it by placing these things over his ears that make a clicking sound and then monitors on his body that I guess register his response to the clicks. The first time, one of his ears didn't pass. But the nurse said that happens all the time and most likely because he fell asleep. They did it again the next day and both passed fine. ..... When Dr. Torres came by on Sunday he said I could go home that day or stay until Monday. I decided to go home Sunday. |
