Baby has arrived!

update
The furniture arrived yesterday. Everything looks really good. I have all the drawers open because it smells like the wood. Which Johan says is expected when it is made from all wood . So hopefully they will air out in the next week or so and then I can put in the few clothes that I do have for him. I made the bed with the bedding so I could take a picture. But I'm going to take it all apart again because I need to wash it all. And it might just collect dust sitting there for the next 3 months. Also we plan on him sleeping in our room for the first few months so he probably won't even use the crib until December or January. I'll post the pictures soon. I love the way it looks. We still need to hang the curtains and the wall hangings. And I need to get the stars for the wall too. And we need a lamp for the lampshade. Take a look at the theme picture I posted a long time ago. ....... We didn't get a chance to register this weekend, we were just too busy. And I don't think we will have time next weekend either. But hopefully the following weekend the 4th or 5th of August. ........ Here's a funny story: The other night I was laying in bed and I realized that I hadn't felt him move in a long time. So I tried poking my stomach to get him to move, but nothing. So I had Johan get the ipod and we put the headphones up to my belly and played him some music. I told Johan to play something with a good beat. He chose Snow by the Chili Peppers. And it worked. The baby started moving around. I don't know if he was dancing or just mad I woke him up. But he was moving and it made me feel better. ......... I went for my glucose test last Friday. It wasn't as bad as people said it was. It tasted like a cross between cough syrup and fruit punch kool-aid. I should get the results at my next appointment August 4th. ....... Here's a sad story: I went to put on a pair of pants yesterday and when I was putting them on they ripped. Now I'm down to one pair of jeans and two pair of shorts. I'll be in maternity clothes soon. But to make me feel better that pair of jeans is a size 2, although they are no where near buttoned when I wear them. I'm so thankful for the bella band. I've gained about 16-17 pounds so far. People tell me that I look good and that it's all in my belly. But I never know if they are telling the truth or just saying something nice. Because I feel huge. And Johan agreed, I can always count on him for his honest opinion.

Our LA Vacation part 2
That night we ate dinner at Don Jose's. Johan remembered it from when he lived there. (he was born in Orange County). It was good. I had the veggie burrito, he had the fish tacos. After we went cruising down by the beach and had some DQ. We walked down the end of the pier and watched the sunset over the ocean. .......... Monday we went back to the Huntington Beach. There were a lot less people there than on Sunday. This time we came prepared with spf 50. Johan still thinks he got a bit burned even with the 50 on. ..... Then we went to IKEA. One of my favorite stores. I wish they'd build one here in Vegas. ...... Monday night we went down to Costa Messa and to Newport Beach. We ate at a Japanese restaurant. Johan ordered sushi. I ordered vegetable tempura. When the sushi came the waitress set in the middle of the table. I guess thinking we'd share it. Anyways I hear the lady at the next table over saying "she's pregnant" loud enough for me and Johan to hear. I wasn't going to eat the sushi, but even if I was, what business was it of hers what I ate. .... Afterward we went to the movies and saw the new Pirates movie. It was good except there was no ending. It just stopped. Now we all have to wait another year before we see what happens next. ....... Tuesday morning we had to check out. The hotel actually had a free full breakfast that was included in our room rate, however we never made it there in time. But there was a Starbucks and Noah's Bagels right across the street. After we checked out we drove up to Van Nuys. We went to the Japanese garden there. It was so beautiful. I took a ton of pictures, but of course it's much better in person. I recommend it to everyone. And it was only $6 to get in. The only bad thing was it was so HOT!. It is summer so you miss out on all the maple trees in color. And you miss out on the wisteria in bloom (they bloom in early spring), same with the cherry blossoms. But we did enjoy all the summer blooms. ..... We headed home after that. The drive back went very smoothly compared to the drive to LA. Although gas in Baker was $3.79 a gallon for the cheap stuff. Talk about price gouging. They know people have to fill up there, they are in the middle of the desert with no other choice. ....... All in all I'd say it was a great vacation. We did exactly what I wanted to do. Hang out at the beach, enjoy the ocean, relax, and visit the Japanese Garden. I can't wait until we can bring little Joshua to the ocean. I was watching all the families and the kids playing in the sand. It's too bad we live so far from the ocean. I wonder if we'll live in Las Vegas forever. I really like living here, except for the lack of water. ..... Anyways, it was a good vacation, except that two days into our vacation, our credit card stopped working. After getting a hold of the credit card company I found out that they stopped the cards due to "our information being compromised" which had nothing to do with our trip or our spending, it just happened to be coincidental that it happened at that time. I guess that it was a good thing that they stopped the cards before anything had happened. ...... It's always good to go on vacation, but it is always good to come home. Too bad I have to go back to work tomorrow.

Our LA Vacation part 1
We're back from California. We had a great time. We went to escape the hot Las Vegas summer. Unfortunately they were having a heat wave in southern California. It was 108 F with humidity on Saturday. We tried to stay near the beach, it was atleast 10 degrees cooler near the water. I'll be posting photos soon. But I'm going to post only a few on this site, I'll be posting a lot on our other site. If you don't have the web address, email me and I'll give it to you. ...... The vacation didn't start out so good, it's only a 4 hour drive from Vegas to LA, maybe 5 with traffic. So we left Vegas (the first time) at 3 pm. We did not arrive at our hotel until after 1 am! See we got an hour into the trip and our Focus couldn't handle the heat and the mountains. It kept stalling out, and wouldn't go over 50mph. So we turned around and drove all the way back (very slowly) to Vegas. We rented a car (not an expense we had planned on) and then started out again to LA at 7pm. We hit a lot of traffic at Victorville. There must of been an accident with chickens or feather pillows or something. Because when we finally got through the traffic there were feathers all over the road. But we made it finally. We stayed in Huntington Beach. ........ On Saturday my cousin, Kara, called me. She just so happened to be in LA too. She lives in Pennsylvania. I met up with her at her hotel. I haven't seen her in years! She was staying at the Chateau Marmont. There were all these famous people there. We saw Ben Stiller's dad (Jerry), Kate Bosworth, and Penelope Cruz, (her dog peed all over the hotel lobby floor). Kara saw a bunch more people while she was there. A bunch of people from MTV. ..... After we left we went driving down Sunset Blvd. It was a very nice drive through what I think they call The Hollywood Hills. All the roads in Vegas are very straight, so it was a nice change to be driving through all the curvy turns. We ended up in Malibu. We went to the beach there. It was very clean I thought. Although parking was hard to find. Sometimes I feel so land locked here in Las Vegas. It was so nice just to sit and look at the ocean. We drove Pacific Coast Highway all the way back to Huntington Beach. .......... Sunday we spent almost the whole day down on the beach in Huntington. This beach is HUGE! I thought much better than Malibu beach. There must of been thousands of people there. The beach keeps going and going and going. It was really clean too. Not like the beaches back in Rochester. And there are lifeguards, and bathrooms, and a place to buy food, or rent a boogie board. The water was so nice, not too cold, but refreshing in the heat. The waves were coming in pretty good. There were a lot of surfers. We were wearing SPF 30, which we reapplied twice, yet somehow us whities still got burned. I think we were the two whitest people there. You could go blind looking at the refection coming off of us. I kept my belly covered the whole time, except when I was in the water. I read that the sun can increase the chance for stretch marks (which I currently don't have and would like to keep it that way). Anyways no one wants to look at my big white belly. It was kinda hard laying on the beach when you can't lay on your back or stomach. We should of brought our lawn chairs.
