Baby Shower Number 1
I had my first baby shower yesterday. And I want to thank everyone for coming and for all the generous gifts. Personalized thank you's to follow, but in the mean time I just wanted to tell everyone thank you very much. And a very very special thank you to Melissa! I couldn't have done it without her. She was the best co-hostess anyone could have. She worked so hard and put in alot of time and effort to make my shower so wonderful. I had so much fun and I hope everyone else did too. I'll be posting photos as soon as I get around to it. I spent most of today just organizing and sorting out all the wonderful gifts. I am really tired today. I think yesterday took a lot out of me, and it's going to take a few days to recuperate. There were so many people here, I counted 33 people. I felt so spoiled that everyone came and "showered" me and Johan with gifts. And food. There is so much food. Jayme and Roger made a three tiered cake for me. And they made it my style, chocolate filled with peanut butter cream an crispy. Mmmmmmmmmmm. It was soooo yummy! There's photos on Roger's myspace page for all those who want to see. The games were all really fun too. I didn't win any of them though. Okay, so everyone knows where I live now, so don't be strangers, come see me sometime (just call first please) I'll be here, reclining (doctor's orders). ...... P.S. - We all missed you Cynthia :( Hope you had a good time visiting your family. Send me an email and let me know how you and Lou Lou are doing.

Getting ready for the shower
I've been getting ready for the shower / party tomorrow. Melissa came over today and helped me decorate. Actually she did most of the decorating and I sat on the couch. The place looks really good. The food is almost done. All that's left is to make tonight is the cheese spread and get the artichoke dip ready. Then tomorrow just the last minute stuff like cutting the watermelon and traying up all the crackers and breads and stuff. There has never been this much food in my refrigerator, ever. I was thinking of taking a picture because some people have teased me in the past about always having an empty fridge. It's working overload to keep everything cold. I'm really hoping it doesn't die on me. It shouldn't it's only 2 years old. ...... Melissa brought me a present from a girl at work who can't come tomorrow. She got me baby books, one is a touch and feel animal book and the others are a box set of Curious George books. Both I had registered for. Okay, I better go finish the food now.

Doctor's Visit week 32
I went to the doctor's last Friday. I measured right on track. So that is good. I did lose 1 pound though since my last appointment. The nurse told me. I was afraid I was going to get a lecture from the doctor, but he didn't mention it. All he said was that I was now measuring accordingly. All the usual stuff: checked my urine, blood pressure, listened to the heartbeat, went over my kick counts. I had to sign my c-section forms. The kind of forms where they tell you that your having major surgery and here are all the rare things that could happen. I told Dr. Fleisher that I was a little disappointed that I wasn't having a regular birth. He said I could try one if I really wanted to, but he didn't recommend it. He said that based on the size of my pelvis bone and the size that the baby is estimated to be, the birth would be very difficult. And most likely he'd have to pull the baby out. And that I might end up with an emergency c-section. It is safer for the baby to be born c-section. So that's it, no going back now. I asked about all those "rare" complications that were listed on the form. The most serious one was that I could have uncontrolled bleeding and he'd have to remove my entire uterus to stop it. I asked if he has ever had that happen. He said that in his entire career he has performed a thousand c-sections and the amount of times that has happened he could count on one hand. He said that if the patient is going to bleed to death, he will remove the uterus to save the life of the patient. I just have to trust the Lord that this won't happen to me. I do trust my doctor. He did perform a c-section on his wife when his son was born. I had asked him that at my very first appointment. And knowing that has made me calmer about the c-section. I'm also scared of that giant needle their going to be sticking into my spine. I wonder if they numb the area first. I'll have to remember to ask that next time. Or maybe I don't want to know the answer. ...... Lets see what else happened. I asked him who performed the circumcision. He said it is the pediatrician. I selected one from the list they gave me as recommendations. I just chose the only one that was with my insurance and wasn't too far away. I chose Foothills Pediatrics on Eastern and St. Rose. ...... I asked him to define what he meant by bedrest. He said I didn't need to actually stay in bed, but I am to recline as much as possible because it increases blood flow. ....... He's sending me for another ultrasound. I guess this is going to be the routine. I remember at the beginning that he said as long as everything goes good I'll only have one ultrasound, and now I'm going on number four. It's in two weeks on September 13th. And I have my doctor's appointment right afterwards. Johan won't be able to go with me he'll have to work. .......The only time I ever leave the house now is doctor's appointments and church. But I did have to go to Bellagio and have my paperwork filled out. What a hassle. I don't want to go into it, it'll just get me in a bad mood if I start thinking about it. Next week I need to go to the union office for more paperwork.

Venting over my rye bread frustrations
I've been trying to track down some rye bread for my rye bread dip. I had a terrible time finding it last time I made this dip a few years ago. None of the grocery stores sells it. It seems like no one in this town sells dark rye bread or pumpernickle bread. I miss Wegman's, they'd have it for sure. I've been calling bread bakeries in the phone book and I find it amazing how the employees don't know whether or not the rye bread they sell is dark or light or even what a pumpernickle is. Maybe the average person might not know the difference. But if your employed at a bread bakery I think you should know what type of bread your selling. I'm going to end up having to go all the way across town to get it. The only place I found that sells pumpernickle is the Great Buns Bakery way down Tropicana. That is the only place I found it last time. If I didn't have to make so much stuff I'd probably just bake the bread myself.
