Baby has arrived!

2006-10-01  (36 weeks)
October!
October is finally here! Wow, only 17 more days until little Joshua makes his arrival. I had my doctor's appointment on Friday. All the usual stuff, weight (125), urine, blood pressure, listened to the heartbeat, checked my kick count sheet. I had my strep B test. Thats a test they do with all pregnant women to see if I have the strep virus, if I do then they'll give me antibiotics during delivery. I asked about if they will numb me before they stick me with that giant needle into my spinal fluid. I was afraid to ask because if the answer was no, then I didn't want to know. But thankfully the answer was yes. I don't know why I'm so afraid of this needle, I'm not afraid of other needles. I asked about my hospital stay. The c-section will be on wednesday morning and he said I'll be going home on Friday afternoon. I asked about what the rooms are like. I'll have my own private room and private bathroom, and the baby will stay in my room the whole time. My next appointment is this Friday. ...... We went shopping this weekend to buy all those things that we still needed to get. We went to Babies R Us and printed our registry. We bought all the things on the registry that we needed. Basically we bought everything except the toys. We bought the co-sleeper, the stroller/ carseat travel system (this is Ingemar's gift to us), the pump, the boppy pillow, and a ton of other small items. We also bought a carbon monoxide detector. So now the only things we still need are more diapers, sheets for the co-sleeper, and we need to buy a nightstand. Those who have seen our bedroom know we have zero furniture in there and need some sort of table next to the bed. And we also need some sort of table or shelf in the nursery near the changing table to put the wipe warmer on. But that's about it, I can't think of anything else we need to get before the baby gets here. We need to organize all this stuff. ...... I assembled the swing and the pack n play. I'd wait forever if I waited for Johan to assemble the things. (in his defense though he is working two jobs). I still need to put together the co-sleeper and the stroller / carseat is still in the box. We need to put the carseat in the car and then get it inspected. ........ When I put together the swing I tried to put Austin in it to test it out and take his picture, but the silly cat wouldn't stay, he wanted nothing to do with it. I do think that the swing goes really fast, even on 1st speed, and there are 6 speeds. Maybe though when the baby is in the swing it will go slower because of the added weight. I was reading reviews of the swing online and I find is strange that some mothers would complain that there were too many safety straps (over shoulders, and across lap) because it took too long to put the baby in and take the baby out. I'd rather spend the extra minute strapping the baby in to insure the baby wasn't going to fall out. ........ I'm a bit worried about if Austin might jump in the pack n play. For those who don't know, the pack n play is a bassinet and changing table, that will later turn into a play pen. We have this downstairs. I'm not worried about him jumping in the co-sleeper or crib because those are in the bedrooms and I plan on closing the doors when the baby is in them. But the pack n play is downstairs. So far though Austin has paid no attention to it, he was more interested in the cardboard box it came in. ..... Lets see, what else. I had to go to Bellagio and have more paperwork filled out. What a hassle it always becomes. I had to have paper work filled out to keep my insurance for an extra month. See, if I don't work for 3 months in a row I lose my health insurance, so I filed to have Bellagio extend my insurance for an additional month (the max allowed). So now, after 4 months I'll lose my health insurance, but it's okay because I'm still insured under Johan. ...... We went and pre-registered at the hospital. We are to be there at 7 am on the 18th. Only 17 more days. ...... I set everything up with the pediatrician. He is going to come to the hospital after I give birth. But he doesn't do the circumcision there, I have to take the baby to the doctor's office for that. ....... What else. Oh, today I stood on the scale and it read a shocking 128 pounds! Maybe it was that half a pizza I ate yesterday. But I am very proud to say that I have not developed a single stretch mark. I lotion my belly 2-3 times a day, and never expose it to sunlight. I'm not sure if this is the reason but it must help. Although I hear some women get shrink marks after they give birth.

Ultrasound 36 Weeks
Today was my 36 week ultrasound. I'm actually 36 weeks and 1 day. And finally reached that point where I don't need to have a full bladder for the ultrasounds. Which makes it a much better experience. Everything went good. My fluid went up. It went from 10 to 11.5, which is now really good. She said the baby weighs 6 pounds 8 ounce. Which would mean that he gained 1 ounce a day over the last week. His heartbeat measured 133 beats per minute. She said it was good. Thats about all. I see doctor Fleisher tomorrow. It's only 20 more days until little Joshua makes his arrival. Lets hope he doesn't want to make an early appearance.

Only 3 Weeks Left!
Wow, I can't believe it but 3 weeks from today our little Joshua will be born. Check out the ticker at the top of the page, we're in the home stretch now! I was in the nursery today trying to pick out his "coming home" outfit. I'm not sure on which one yet. He has this really cute t-shirt that says "Born in the USA" that I'd like him to wear, but I want to keep it looking nice because I plan on him wearing it for a photo session with an American flag in the background. I wonder how big he'll be when he's born. I only have a few newborn sized clothes, most everything I have starts at size 3 months or larger. I need to pack my bag for the hospital, just incase I go into labor before the 18th. And I know I still need to post the photos of the baby shower. ...... Johan's been painting the guest bedroom. The color is called Baked Scone. It's the same color we have in the bathrooms. This is finally the last room in the house to paint. It only took 2 1/2 years to paint it all, but it's finally almost done. ...... It's become so hard to sleep at night. I just can't get comfortable. And it's getting so hard to breath. Little Joshua is getting so big in there that my lungs just don't have enough room to expand. According to What To Expect When Expecting it should get easier to breath some time soon, but that hasn't happened yet.
