Baby has arrived!

2006-04-01  (10 weeks)
I'm sick!
It's Saturday April 1st. We're leaving a little bit to fly to Rochester for my dad's surgery. We'll be there until the 10th. I don't think we'll have internet access there, so I won't be adding an entry for a while. His surgery is on the 4th. So everyone pray for him that all goes well and he has a quick easy recovery. Also I haven't been feeling well at all lately. The last two days I've been sick. Yesterday I had a bit of a fever. I've been taking tylenol. I have a list of medicines that are fine to take while pregnant from my doctor. The fever has passed, but now it's in my head. Stuffy nose, sneezing, watery eyes, coughing. and I've been throwing up too. Don't know if it's the morning sickness or from the cold. But the fever is gone, and that is what is important. I'm just not looking foward to this cross country red eye flight tonight. I hope I don't throw up on the plane. The medicines on the list from my doctor that I can take are: tylenol, tylenol cold, sudefed, robutussin, claritin, benedryl, tums, and mylanta. Yesterday I actually went home early from work. This is the first time in the 3 1/2 years that I have worked there that I have missed any work due to being sick. In fact I have never once missed a day of work that I was scheduled for. If I wasn't pregnant I would of just filled myself full of day-quil and kept on working. I don't feel bad about missing work at all, my little angel is much more important.

First doctors appointment! (part2)
Lets see where did I leave off.... We spent a long time talking about what I can do, what I can't do. What to eat, what not to eat. Basically there is not activity or excersise that I'm limited from doing. I shouldn't do lunges and squats, but he said it's not from being pregnant, he says that all women should avoid those exersises. He says that I need to be working out, even lifting weights, which I normally do the bowflex. So as long as my pregnancy goes normally I shouldn't have to limit my physical activity as long as I'm not tired or feel pain. I really like this doctor. He's not one of those stiff doctor types. He's more laid back. He kinda reminds me of Howey Mandell a bit. Johan said maybe it was just "casual Friday". Also he says I don't need to limit the types of foods I eat either. As long as everything is in moderation, I can eat it. Like a coke, or 1 cup of coffee. Fish, he says I don't need to worry about the mercury content because for it to have an effect I'd have to consume an enourmous amount. He said he wants me to eat more fish cause I'm not eating meat or chicken. He said I can have shell fish, eggs with runny yolks, just about anything, as long as it's in moderation. He gave me a perscription for prenatal vitamins. They're not too much more expensive than the GNC ones. They're $60 for a 3 month supply. So the other big thing that happened was we were able to hear the heartbeat for the first time. He said that he normally doesn't do it this early, but he thought I was thin enough and he'd try to find it. And sure enough there it was. bah-bup, bah-bup, bah-bup. He said it's usually around 160-180 bpm, but he didn't time it this time. It was so amazing to hear the actual heartbeat. It makes this real now. I can't stop thinking about that heartbeat. Thats our baby. It's such a beautiful miracle to know our baby is growing inside of me. Another thing about the doctor that I really liked was when he found the heartbeat, you could tell he thought it was a beatiful thing too. He seems to really care about his patients and the babies, my baby. I can't wait now until week 18, thats when I'll have the ultra sound and see the baby. I'll go to the doctor every 4 weeks now until week 28, then every 2 weeks. My next appointment is Friday, April 21st. After my appointment I had to give blood. They took 9 tubes of blood!!! I couldn't believe how many tubes the lady took out. But it was for a good reason, so it wasn't so bad.

First doctors appointment!
We went to our first doctors appointment. There is so much to tell. I don't have much time now, so I'll just write a bit now, and then a bit later. This appointment was just a lot of information and a lot of paper work. So the first big news is that he set my due date at October 25th. not the 27th which I had calculated. So I wasn't too far off. I'm due on the 25th, but the baby is on schedule to be born about one week before that by cesarian. He said that I'm too petite for a regular birth, unless I really wanted one then he'd try, and it would be hard and then I might need an emergency cesarian anyways. So why even try that, I'll just do cesarian, it's much safer, and he recommends that. Plus I'll get to avoid all the labor pains. So our baby will be born around the 18 of October. I'll know the exact date as we get closer.

Started on the nursery.
I'm feeling a bit better today, not so sick. Yesterday I felt really bad though. We're starting to think about the nursery. Right now the room has a BowFlex in it. We're going to move that into the other bedroom. My dad installed a ceiling fan and light fixture in the nursery-to-be. It was quite a difficult job because he needed to crawl through the attic a bunch of times. So thank you dad. And your little grandchild thanks you too. We think we'll put up a chair rail half way up. And we might do a wall paper on half, or a border along the top. This would only be on the three walls cause the fourth wall is almost entirely closest. We go to the doctor this Friday. I can't wait, I'm really hoping they do an ultra sound. We'll see.
