Baby has arrived!

2008-03-08  (20 weeks)
5 months and stranded

The blizzard of '08 has marked us stranded, so what are two bored people to do?  We go four-wheeling on the top field.  We found ourselves being true adventure seekers.  We found coyote tracks so we figured we'd follow them and see where they lead when, to our amazement, we hit a huge drift.  Bummer... Brian's digging his way out of this one as I'm contemplating writing a message in the snow to any plane that might pass by.  As Brian is "dogging paddling" through the knee-high snow trying to unbury his beloved vehicle, I cannot help but to laugh hysterically.  All I could think is if this baby could only see it's daddy now...

But don't worry, we're all fine. If you were only there to appreciate the stupidity... It was classical.

We bought our crib today and Brian has it all set up! Harley even tested it out.

No More Hiding

I can no longer hide behind my fleece vests.  The baby bump is definitely out for the world to see.  I am noticing new changes everyday.  I still haven't felt the baby move but I am constantly reminded it is there.  I no longer can sleep on my back or I wake up and my arms are numb.  I also cannot sleep through the night.  I have to get up at least once or twice.  And sleeping in is out of the question even on the ever so nice snow days. (I know, what's happened to me right!?!)  I guess I had to give it up eventually.  I think it just passed on from me to Shawn.  Enjoy it while you can Shawnay.  I also notice I get tired a lot easier.  I was shoveling snow the other day and had to take it easy for a while. I also feel the sudden urge to sigh or almost grunt when I bend down to pick up things off the floor.  Attractive, I know.  Oh, and shaving my legs was really hard today.  I have no balance anymore.  I fell in WalMart while trying to pick up a can of soup that fell out of my hands.  Don't worry it was one of those graceful slow-motion falls right on my butt.  It was embarrassing to say the least.  Thank goodness I wasn't having an emotional moment otherwise I would have sat on the floor crying my eyes out.  Beside balance, another thing that's gone is my memory.  If Abby hadn't told me I left my coat at her house, I would be without still today.  I would've never done that before.   My hope is that my body, balance, and memory return after July otherwise this baby is going to be really embarrassed to be seen with its mother.

Doctor's Visit

Today's visit went really well.  First of all, I didn't gain a pound!!! Woohoo! I was stressed the entire month and now my weight is on track! Secondly, I'm really getting the peeing in a cup thing down.  I used to feel so bad for Brian because he would be waiting and waiting outside the restroom and now...I've conquered the stage fright.  And finally, we were able to hear the heartbeat again and it changed.  It was 140 beats/minute.  So I guess that means it could be a boy after all.  The nurse tried to find a second heartbeat but all she found was echoes so it might only be one.  We will find out for sure on March 10th when we will have the ultrasound!  How exciting!
