Baby has arrived!

Oh, the many changes

As my belly continues to grow, I can feel the baby move a lot.  It's a nice reassurance that he's doing okay.  He's still very active at night and is starting to be more active in the mornings.  I also notice that he responds to orange juice and other sugary things.

I've had a lot of changes too.  I'm starting to learn that I need to laugh at myself instead of getting upset with all the jokes my body is playing on me.  The hormones are the easiest to make fun of.  What else would make me tear up while watching Tila Tequila or Flicka!?!  And poor Brian has to sleep with a fort of pillows surrounding me (to prevent me from sleeping on my back and to prevent my ankles from becoming any more “cankle-sized” than they already have become.)

But I must say, Brian’s taking it like a champ.  I had Saturday School this weekend and when I came back he had the nursery already painted! J It’s too cute to see him get excited over his hard work.  I notice that both of us go upstairs and peak at the nursery.   Even Harley’s been hanging out up there a lot more.  I think she knows something’s up.

It will only be 3 more months until the little man is here!

Beginning of the third trimester

I am now officially in my third trimester and a lot has been happening.  I have been growing like crazy and can now feel the baby move often.  Brian has felt him too. He likes to be active late at night and early in the morning.  Sleep is already getting to be limited.  I guess that's mother nature's way of gradually saying learn to cope without it.

My doctor's visit was Wednesday and I had to get my finger pricked for a routine gestational diabetes test.  I am happy to report that I am okay.  I also found out that I have already been having Braxton hick contractions.  Lately, when I walk for more than 45 minutes my stomach gets as hard as a rock and come sometimes be painful.  It's hard to believe that I am getting these already but the doctor said that drinking water will relieve them.  If only water was the cure for labor...

Also, I am very happy to report that mom is out of the hospital and slowly recovering.

The Joy of Registering

On Monday Brian and I embarked on our tedious journey of registering at Babies R Us.  We had prolonged it long enough.  It was time.  I must say that it wasn't as bad as what I was expecting.  I thought we would be completely lost.  I had done a little research prior to our trip.  Lori and I went there Friday and she gave me the low-down on all the goods and I've been picking Christy's brain as well.  I thought I was in pretty good shape.  (Not a pro by any means, but good shape.)

When we we received our "gun" Brian went to town.  He was too funny.  I lost him several times when he started zapping away.  I had to remind him that the gun couldn't be used at Bass Pro Shop.

Overall, I think we did pretty well.  We finished most of it.  We will  have to go back and add more things once we pick out the decor for the room.  Grandma is going to be helping me with that.

It's a...

We had our ultrasound yesterday and it's a BOY! He looks just like Brian with his skinny legs, "voluptuous" lips, and of course the little (or as Brian would say "BIG") member.  I used Christy's trick and drank some Mountain Dew before I went in so he would be moving around.  He was kicking like crazy!  Brian was shocked that I couldn't feel a thing.  I was so nervous about not feeling him but the doctor said that my placenta is in a spot that the baby is kicking it instead of my stomach wall so it's like he is kicking through a pillow.  I am so glad that he had all of his little organs and fingers and toes.  I couldn't sleep the night before.  I thought I would be more excited to find out if it was a boy or girl but I was more nervous to find out if everything was okay.  Brian and I had originally always said we wanted a boy first.  However, we both, in the back of our minds, thought it was a girl.  Maybe we were siking ourselves out.  Regardless, we would be happy either way.  But I'm so happy to have a boy first!!!

Now that we know it's a boy I need some name ideas.  Do you have any suggestions?
