First Doctor's Appointment

Last Friday, we went in for ou first doctor's appointment. After a horrific day of morning nausea for mom and a terrible night of the same for dad, we anxiously made our way down to AAMC. It was 3rd trimester day at the OBGYN. Apparently it was also family day. There was one mom-to-be who left with a parade of at least 5 children who all looked to be under the age of 10 and apparently had 2 more on the way. Us expecting our first sat watching this in total awe and fear. I know that I could not handle having an army of children. I have so much respect for those women who can handle it.

So anywho, after a long wait we found out the everything is going well so far and we are now 10 weeks along. The highlight of the visit was the ultrasound. We were both so amazed to the see the little peanut. He/she is just hanging out doing a head stand. It was very comforting to know that this little adorable grape size baby is the cause of my feelings of icky-ness over the past few weeks.

We went to CT over the weekend to see my family and we're back in MD to ring in the New Year with Brian, Jeff, and Kate. Yay for 2008!

I am looking forward to the next month being over

Happy Winter Break!

I just said goodbye to all of my students for the break! Yay! I'm hanging out at school for a few minutes before heading over to the staff Christmas party feeling very relaxed and excited.

I'm very excited about the 10 day vacation. I'm very excited that in one week we're going to the doctor. I'm very excited that by the end of break most of our close family and friends will know that baby is on the way :)

I told Ms. Cook this morning. She was so happy that she screamed! She thinks that our plan for telling our families for Christmas is perfect, too!

My task over the next few days is to make sure that I have all of my shopping and such done... but for now it's time to party :)

Twas the week before Christmas...

It's been a rough week... "morning" aka "all day long" sickness kicked in full swing this week. I sleep a lot. Friday night I slept for 12 hours and last night I slept for 15 hours. Bizarre part is that I still needed naps during the day. Ed and PC (my 16 year old cat) are having sympathy nausea symptoms as well. It's cute.

We hosted Ed's office Christmas party last night. It was a really great time. Piper (our kitten) was the center of the party. Funniest moment was when one of Ed's coworkers commented on his wife playing with Piper and asking if they could get a kitten. He said "Good thing you don't have a kid!". Next year!

We were supposed to have a winter storm last night that ended up just being rain. So it's gloomy outside and there is little hope for a snow day tomorrow. Oh well!

Less than two weeks until we go to the doctor for the first time. I'm excited and nervous as you can probably imagine. God willing, everything is going well. As miserable as I feel most of the time, it's normal from what I can understand so I'm not too worried. I can't wait for the first ultrasound!

We have a week to go before Christmas and I just hope I don't sleep through it!

PS Happy Birthday Grandpa (even though he doesn't know he's going to be a Grandpa yet! Hehe!)

Christmas Time is Here...

I just gave Ed a hug and he touched my belly and noticed that it's starting to get a little bigger! Yay! Last week I couldn't button my pants anymore. I thought it was too soon for these problems, but apparently not! I love the weekends because I get to wear comfy pants that actually fit!

I still feel nauseous, but haven't actually gotten sick yet (thank goodness!). I've started to get headaches when I'm hungry (every 2-3 hours), especially when I don't eat something right away. Today is a gloomy day outside, but it's a very relaxing to be at home on a Sunday.

We put up our first real Christmas tree yesterday after an interesting adventure at a Christmas tree farm. Long story short, we did not cut down our own tree and ended up getting a very nice Fraiser at some random garden place that we passed on the way home.

We went downtown to watch the yacht parade in the harbor last night then had a yummy dinner out with Jason and Danielle before the adventure of putting up the tree continued. The tree is still a little crooked, but only if you look at sideways :)

I'm excited to start wrapping presents and piling them up underneath the tree. Maybe I'll start after a nap this afternoon. I'm so sleepy!
