Hello everyone!

Well what a busy few days it's been!!  Saturday we had our first childbirth class and it was very informative!  This week was all about what to expect in labour, delivery and recovery.  We learned about pain mangement (give me the drugs!)  and different ways to cope with labour.  I actually feel ok about everything - it seems like more of a reality now...but at least I know what I'm getting myself into.

Sunday we had our 2nd shower, at Julie's house in Barrie.  (I will post a few pictures that I have here at work, and a few more later from home.)  It was a great turnout - we had friends and family from both mine and Dan's sides which was fantastic!!  And again...Cletus got spoiled BIG TIME.  This morning I woke up early and went through everyhing and believe it or not I found homes for all of it.  (Of course, once I finish the 3 loads of "new baby" laundry that may be a different story, LOL!)

This morning was another check up and all is well it seems - baby's heart rate is still good, although for the first time it wasn't on the right side of my belly!  I knew baby has been moving around a  lot more in there...

I think that's all for now.  My next appointment is July 2 at 9am and I'll be sure to post the update!  After that visit I start going weekly.  I'm getting close that's for sure!

We had our tour of the Oshawa Hospital last night and it was really informative!  We saw where to check in, saw the rooms where they do the inital examination, and then we got to see the Labour, Birth and Recovery Rooms.  So I will be in the same room from labour until 2-3 hours after birth, when I will be moved to my hospital room.  We're still checking into what our insurance covers, but I'm thinking even if it's only semi-private I will pay the $40 and upgrade.  I think it'd be worth it since knowing my luck I'd end up stuck with a crazy roommate!

The nurse giving the tour went over how they'll put in the epidural and all that  fun stuff, and Dan almost passed out! LOL...good news is they ask Daddy to leave the room for that anyway .

The other cool thing is that baby will get to stay in the same room with me, providing everyone is healthy which is great.  They even have a kitchen for us to use to we can bring our own snacks, meals, whatever.

During our stay (typically 48 hours) they also let us (and show us how to) bathe the baby and all that fun stuff!

Anyway it put my mind at ease in one way...but made it really seem real too!!!

Happy Monday!

Well my first shower was yesterday and it was great!  I went downtown to meet up with Meghan, and then she took me to a restaurant called Bodega where my mom and sister were waiting for me!  (I knew friends were going, but not Mom and Julie too!)  We had a nice brunch on the patio and of course - Cletus got lots more great gifts! 

The girls did an amazing job buying practical AND fun things all at the same time.  Aunt Julie got this really cute stuffed lady bug that turns into a pillow, and we got the baby monitor, vaporizer, wash cloths, those adorable hooded towels with booties, and some very cute fuzzy things as well. :)  There are pictures in the Photo Album!

It was really great to see everyone.

Anyway...week 32 is here...so in anywhere from 4 - 8 weeks I'm gonna have a baby!!!  Holy crap... this week baby is the size of a jicama (picture posted..I had to look it up!)

I hope everyone is doing well - one more shower to go, this Sunday is the big family one!  And I have a doctor's appointment next Monday  the 16th so you can expect a full update then.

...That's right...only 9 weeks to go!

This morning I had another appointment with my OB.  All is well - baby's heart rate is nice and strong and regular, and my tummy is measuring at 32cm.  (Still 1 cm ahead but no cause for concern!)  My blood pressure is good, I passed the Diabetes screening test...but I'm up 7 pounds since 4 weeks ago!!   I'm trying not to let that get to me though...

The only issue is that I found out today that my doctor doesn't deliver in Port Perry where we'd planned on going, and where I've booked the birthing classes.  So we're going to tour Oshawa and then decide from there whether the Port Perry birthing suites make up for not having my own doctor present.

I go back every 2 weeks now, so June 16th at 10am is my next appointment.

We had our maternity photos taken this weekend which was really fun!  Dan wasn't overly excited about it but he was a great sport.  I'll be sure to post some once I get them.
