They're Fraternal!

John and I had our second ultrasound yesterday. We were hoping to find out the sexes of the babies but apparently we can't be told until Week 24 which seems quite a while for parents to find out the sexes of their twins (I had someone tell me that she found out at 18 weeks... I don't want to wait anymore...lol). We were lucky enough to find out that they are fraternal twins. There are two placentas, the babies are in different sacs and this also means that there were two eggs and two sperm.

It's exciting to learn atleast one new thing each time we go because our technician doesn't say much at all. He just kind of sighs, grunts or says 'good'...hah. All in all, the babies look healthy. They're perfect size for this stage and they're kicking away. We also got to bring home pictures today which was a nice change as last time we went in, they didn't give us any. Along with pictures, Daddy (John) got to take some more video which he then adjusted when we got home.

Daddy is a great artist and he put the music to some Nirvana lullaby songs. It looks great. We can't wait to show the babies when they grow up and to just keep it for ourselves as one of those beautiful memories. It almost makes me want to cry because I can't wait to see the babies. I have such a love for them already and I know Johnny feels more for them each day. I think we're going to be great parents and I know we're anxiously awaiting our arrival of our little ones.

I think today I'll go buy a monitor so that we can hear the babies heart beats on our own. It'd be nice for those lazy days at home or just to get that reassurance when we're concerned.

Until next time!!

Kicks

The "flutters" have now turned to kicks and I can already feel some sibling rivalry going on in there...jks. I have the feeling that they let me know when they're uncomfortable rather than when they're comfortable because I can lay or sit in a specific position and they'll boot me until I relax and then it seems as though they go to sleep...haha. It's cute. Starting to feel more movements from Twin (b) who doesn't move too much. Twin (a) I can feel every day... and have been for about 2 months now.

At some point through my days I can look down and see that my stomach is lop sided because one will be sitting higher than the other baby... it's really creepy to see...hah. If you poke the one side that's sitting in farther, it then puffs up and it seems as though the baby then fills the space.

As time draws near, (although I still have about 4 more months to go, if not more) I keep getting more excited.

Purchases: So far we've got some clothing and some diapers and a swing. I've been looking on eBay for another identical swing and it looks like I'll be able to cut a deal with another member who also has twins. I'd prefer having two swings, it might help me out a little for those days when I'm exhausted. My mom had bought us our carseat and our stroller way back in November and now after finding that we have two babies she has asked that I take the stroller back and get the double on her dime and an extra carseat. John's parents have stated they will be buying us a crib and his mother even joked about two so that might even be a possibility...haha.

More pictures will be posted soon.

Pains

The last two nights have been interesting as I've been startled from a deep sleep with pains from the muscles and stomach stretching. It's painful and I think I'd rather it happen during the day when I'm awake because waking up at 2am and not being able to get back to sleep isn't very fun. It's 3:30am now and I'm up doing laundry and will soon be getting ready for work. The good thing is that I usually fall asleep early so I'm still getting about 5-7 hours of sleep.

Hopefully this will pass soon.

TWINS

July 9th 2008

Wow, today has been a crazy surreal day. John and I just found out that we're having twins. It's still so hard to believe and it's definitely going to take some time to sink in. We're excited but also really scared at the same time.

Last week I was telling myself how exiciting it will be to finally meet our little one, now that's plural. So much to do in so little time.
