11th week Yesterday I went to the doctors in Glens Falls. We decided on Glens Falls because Chip knows many doctors in the area that are highly experienced and to be trusted, which I feel most comfortable with. When we went there on Monday, we were expecting to have an ultrasound, but since this is all new to me, we found out that we were in fact not going to have an ultrasound, but we would be able to hear the baby's heartbeat. We were told we would have to schedule a seperate doctors appointment if we wanted to get an ultasound. Styles was there with his family and it was quite a bit of a dissapointment. My dissapointment lifted a bit when the doctor put the instrument on my stomach to hear the heartbeat and it was so amazing!! It sounded like galloping horses. The heartbeat was SO fast! It made it that much more real. Before we left, the doctor handed me a bunch of papers and a prescription for prenatal vitamins. I had been taking regular prenatals, but I guess those aren't good enough. So I have to go do that tomorrow.
When we left the Dr's office, Trish, Chip, Styles and I headed over to the Glens Falls hospital. I got my bloodwork done (6 vials and I almost passed out!), then went out to dinner. Trish got us a cute little baby sweater and hat, which was black and grey just cause no one's sure of the sex yet. It was so cute! I can't wait to put it on him/her. Once we finished dinner, we headed back over to the hospital where we waited to get an ultrasound (Thanks to chip!). We were called into a dark room and the woman rubbed a KY type of liquid onto my stomach. It was a little cold, but soon warmed. The moniter was turned toward the lady, and because I was lying down I couldn't see it. So styles got the first look of our baby! He was pretty awed by everything, and once the lady finally turned the screen toward me I couldn't tear my eyes away from it. We could see the baby in there which was amazing enough, but what really got us when when baby bridges started moving his arms and legs around. It was SO awesome!! That was when it was absolute reality for me, that I had a life growing inside of me...my maternal instincts really kicked in. After we got the printouts of the ultrasound, I couldn't stop staring or thinking about it. I had a perma-smile on my face the whole night! Styles thinks it's going to be a boy, but I guess we'll see next month!
So far i've been experiencing the norm in terms of symptoms-breast tenderness, nausea (i've vomited a few times),feeling like i'm PMS and headaches. It's all worth it though! I just can't wait till my stomach actually starts to look pregnant instead of the in between is she, or is she just fat? I can't wait to get my bump!
PS....tomorrow's my 25th birthday! Happy birthday to me:)
