Baby has arrived!

2007-11-01  (17 weeks)
I prefer my regular doctor!!
So today I had my third pre-natal doctor's appointment and I ended up seeing a doctor-in-training guy first. So he was feeling my uterus to check position and size and he was pretty rough. So I mentioned that it was making me sore he looked at me like I was crazy!! I was pretty ticked off, it's not rocket science, my uterus is growing everyday and if you knead it like a loaf of bread it's going to be a tad uncomfortable!!

So then he listened for the heartbeat, and he worried me over that. Here is my baby's heartbeat info so far:

12 wks 6 dys was 142 bpm
17 wks 2 dys was 120 bpm

So the guy says that I might have to go for an emergency ultrasound because they would rather the heartbeat be at least 130, so he goes off to find my regular doctor. As soon as my regular doctor came in, everything seemed a jillion times better. He said that it's just fine to wait until my November 14th ultrasound, and that a heartbeat of 120 bpm could mean the baby was sleeping. They actually like to see a bit of variation in the heartbeat because the baby could be active sometimes and sleeping sometimes.

Anyway, I was very glad that Pete got to hear his son or daughter's heartbeat, that was a very nice moment. It is weird how we could also hear blood flowing around in there. I am hoping and praying that my baby is fine, because that doctor-in-training really freaked me out. What a dingus.

So I've been laying on the couch all afternoon due to his rough exam, which I didn't appreciate. I hope it's my regular doctor on November 29, I would much prefer that!!!

Almost 17 weeks pregnant
I have been so spoiled this pregnancy. I took a stress leave from work right before I got pregnant, and it's been great to be at home and just enjoy being pregnant. Of course, there have been some discomforts along the way, like incredible exhaustion, nausea/vomiting, and digestion adventures. My back is starting to get sore, although I'm sure I haven't seen anything yet :)

I actually can't imagine going to work right now. It feels like the only thing I can think about is April, and my baby being born. I am supposed to return to work on November 6th after a few extensions to my sick leave, but I've received correspondence from my boss saying it's a slow time at the office and there may not be work for me.

Oh what a tragedy. I never fit in at that office, it's too small, and the workload was really uneven between the three employees. Myself and the other girl had a lot of work to say the least, while the one guy had hardly any work at all and what he did have he pawned off all the time. He was really the reason I took my stress leave, I have never worked with such a professional slacker in my whole life. He's not educated in accounting, he got this job because he has experience in the industry. Let me tell you, this guy is no prize that's for sure.

Anyway, I would be happy to not be around that slacker for the rest of my life, so I'm not exactly heartbroken. The only issue I have is that I'm getting told there's no work, yet they hired a new girl to replace me for my sick leave. Shouldn't they lay her off once I'm done my sick leave? I feel like they want to keep her since I'll only be back for three months then off for maternity leave. Although, she may fit in a lot better than I did, I always felt really out of place there. Everything about that place really bothered me, and no one else seemed to care! It's a very odd place and not what I imagine when I think of a great accounting career. One of the issues was that I was hired at a time when two out of three of the employees left. So there were two of us that were new, and we were stuck with that one slacker who had experience, and he is not the helpful, selfless type that's for sure! If this new girl is such a superstar it's because she got to join the firm during a slow time of year when only one employee left, instead of right before tax season with only one jerk for a trainer.

As you can see, I really disliked this job. I can sum it up in one word: BLECH!! I already have the form from unemployment to extend my benefits, and if I don't hear from my boss about whether there is work I'm filing it and I'll be happy to never set foot in there again :)

I really feel blessed that I have been able to enjoy almost 17 weeks of pregnancy without having to deal with any stressful files, the jerk who takes a nap at his desk after he eats lunch, and the boss who really can't get his act together. I don't know what I'm supposed to do in life, but really the decisions seem to kind of happen, and they feel right when they do. Like being pregnant. It's perfect and I already love my baby so much. And not returning to this job that I really dislike. Double perfect :)

From a fellow April due date friend
This was a cool post on one of the pregnancy websites I go to, it's so cute :)

Why did God make mothers? These are answers given by 2nd grade school children to the following questions:

Why did God make mothers?

1.She's the only one who knows where the scotch tape is.

2. Mostly to clean the house.

3. To help us out of there when we were getting born.

How did God make mothers?

1. He used dirt, just like for the rest of us.

2. Magic plus super powers and a lot of stirring.

3. God made my Mom just the same like he made me. He just used bigger parts.

What ingredients are mothers made of?

1. God makes mothers out of clouds and angel hair and everything nice in the world and one dab of mean.

2. They had to get their start from men's bones. Then they mostly use string, I think.

Why did God give you your mother and not some other mom?

1. We're related.

2. God knew she likes me a lot more than other people's moms like me.

What kind of little girl was your mom?

1. My mom has always been my mom and none of that other stuff.

2. I don't know because I wasn't there, but my guess would be pretty bossy.

3. They say she used to be nice.

What did mom need to know about dad before she married him?

1. His last name.

2. She had to know his background. Like is he a crook? Does he get drunk on beer?

3. Does he make at least $800 a year? Did he say NO to drugs and YES to chores?

Why did your mom marry your dad?

1. My dad makes the best spaghetti in the world and my mom eats a lot

2. She got too old to do anything else with him.

3. My grandma says that Mom didn't have her thinking cap on.

Who's the boss at your house?

1. Mom doesn't want to be boss, but she has to because dad's such a goof ball.

2. Mom. You can tell by room inspection. She sees the stuff under the bed.

3. I guess Mom is, but only because she has a lot more to do than Dad.

What's the difference between moms and dads?

1. Moms work at work and work at home and dads just go to work at work.

2. Moms know how to talk to teachers without scaring them.

3. Dads are taller and stronger, but moms have all the real power 'cause that's who you got to ask if you want to sleep over at your friend's.

4. Moms have magic, they make you feel better without medicine.

What does your mom do in her spare time?

1. Mothers don't do spare time,

2. To hear her tell it, she pays bills all day

What would it take to make your mom perfect?

1. On the inside she's already perfect. Outside, I think some kind of plastic surgery

2. Diet. You know, her hair. I'd diet, maybe blue.

If you could change one thing about your Mom, what would it be?

1. She has this weird thing about me keeping my room clean. I'd get rid of that.

2. I'd make my Mom smarter. Then she would know it was my sister who did it and not me.

3. I would like for her to get rid of those invisible eyes on the back of her head.

My first entry
I am excited to start a pregnancy journal, it started to become more real to me that I am having a baby when I heard the heartbeat at almost 13 weeks. It was 142 bpm, unfortunately Pete didn't come in for that appointment so he missed it, but he will definitely be in there for my next appointment on November 1st.

I get to go for my first ultrasound on November 14th, I am so nervous, but I decided to go to the clinic above Penningtons in order to find out if I am having a boy or a girl. My sis told me  they are a lot nicer than the people at the hospital, who will not tell the sex at all.

I felt the baby move once for sure, at almost fifteen weeks, I was laying down on my right side and it felt like someone was rowing a boat in my uterus. It was a funny feeling, really cool, and lasted about twenty seconds.

We like the name Carly Grace April for a girl, and Peter Ivan Derek for a boy. I have two middle names so that's why I am giving my child two middle names. I have a sense of disbelief that this is actually happening to me, I am so grateful and hopeful, and it's funny because being pregnant makes me want to plan to have another child soon after this one haha. We'll see if I still feel that way later on :)
